INTRODUCTION
Trends of business are changing quickly around world nowadays and the entities that
don’t modify accordingly, cannot endure. It is the job of the leaders to create a changes adapting
environment within the organizational structure. Organizational change is brought up as a set of
activities that come to revise and alter previous procedures, methods, organizational behaviours,
strategies or some other thing, through defining some directions. Organizational change includes
the bundle of various activities that results modification or change in processes and directions
that impact the manner in which the establishment worked before (Al Barwani, Flores and Imig,
2018). The successful structure of organisation change show the enhanced learning capabilities
of a company which may lead industry towards innovation.
For a better understanding of organizational change and leadership importance, the
organization has been chosen is TESCO Plc. Which is a large-scale supermarket grocery retail
chain founded by Jack Cohen in 1919 in England, UK. This report covers different examples of
organizational changes, driving forces relate to these changes, barriers and techniques to
minimise these barriers.
TASK 1
P1 Examples of the affects that change has had upon the organization's operations and strategy:
Organizational change is required for an efficient and effective corporate planning. In
order to make these changes, leaders need to work with human resources division and
departmental managers. There are different examples that need to be monitored for
organizational change:
Competition: In the current market place, competition can trigger the organizational
change. The competition level in market helps the business in deciding its short term as well as
long term objectives and planning. Short term changes may include the training and development
of the staff so that they can be more knowledgeable and talented to defeat the competition in the
market (Bennis and Thomas, 2020). Introduction of new technology in the business and
production and development of new products from the futuristic view can be considered as long
term changes that will require new planning and strategies.
Management: Alteration or change in the management can take place in organization at
any time. This change may affect the current department of the manager and all other groups that

are in contact with that manager. For making managerial changes, the company should make
sure the a qualifies replacement must already be presented there so that emotional impact of
losing key manager can be controlled and corporate culture can be maintained.
Procedures: sometimes organizational changes take place in the process system of the
company which helps in improving the efficiency of the company (Chatterjee, Ghosh and
Chaudhuri, 2020). It may include the alteration or change in whole manufacturing process which
may change the procedure of ordering raw material, shipping and transporting system of the
company, employee layoffs, purchasing and selling habits and even a design change in
production department which need a powerful and convincing strategy planning to be
implemented.
Cost Reduction: Organizations need to check their system on a regular basis so that
ineffective and irrelevant activities and duplication of the work can be detected. Organizational
change leads the process of cost reduction which may be emotionally difficult for the staff .
Employees may strictly resist this change as they have to compromise with their comfort zone
hence the management has to work on its strategies so that changes can be adapted without
hurting sentiments of the workers.

In order to survive in today's competitive market pace, it is necessary for the organization
to introduce organizational change within the company. These changes increase the efficiency
and improve the performance of organization and employees as well (Evans and Mason, 2018).
Changes may impact the organization positively or negatively which totally depends upon the
relevance of the change and organizational behaviour toward the change. TESCO Plc can take
the advantage of market competition and skills of the employees with the help of theses changes
which also helps in deciding short-term and long-term goals of the entity.
