INTRODUCTIONPersonal and professional development is focused on improving skills and abilities inboth personal and professional life and career. Development activities focuses on increasinglearner's ability for organising, managing and practising various approaches which leads to bringimprovements in overall performance. Travelodge Hotel provides facility of accommodation topeople in sophisticated town of Ilford and aims at motivating and encouraging employees so thatthey develop their personal and professional skills. This will lead to bring effectiveness in theirperformance and business activities as well and further benefits achievement of overallobjectives. In this report, various approaches of self-managed learning and its benefits toindividual and overall organisation as well are explained. Evaluation of current skills andcompetencies and various processes required to implement development plan are discussed in thereport. Effective solutions for work-based problems are discussed and evaluation of effectivetime-management strategies is done further.

1.1 Evaluation of approaches to Self-Managed Learning Self-managed learning is a technique used by individuals to learn various differentthings from own self from surroundings. It includes setting personal goals and objectives,identification of purpose of learning and also includes developing strategies for identifyingways for achieving those goals and objectives (Dolga, Filipescu and Mazilescu, 2015). Self-managed learning approaches helps in properly managing the activities of personal andprofessional environment, which are explained as follows:Learning through reading and research: Reading books, articles, newspaper, magazines andnovels helps individual to gain information and increases knowledge. Research skills of staffand me as an assistant management can be developed by reading and while seeking for differenttype of information from varied sources.Seminars, conferences: Individuals can learn through various seminars and conferences as itprovides opportunity of sharing views, ideas and experiences of others. Speaking confidently inpublic and various presentation skills can be developed from attending seminars andconferences. This approach of self-managed learning is most suitable for staff of TravelodgeHotel.Learning through Internet and Social network: Various social networking sites like Google,Facebook, Twitter, etc. are popular on which people spend hours and contact with differentpersons from different parts of the world. These sites provide information regarding variousplaces and field, trends and culture adopted in environment, etc.Bulletin boards: Individuals collects different articles through internet and various sources andincrease self-knowledge and skills (Wegner, 2018).Kolb's Experimental Learning CycleImplication of learning cycle also supports continuous learning of individual like Kolb’sexperimental cycle of learningThis theory explains four stages for learning of learning and it isconcerned with individual's inner cognitive procedure. Kolb explains that learning includesacquiring different conceptual knowledge which can be applied for different situations. Fourstages of Experimental Learning Cycle are explained as follows:

Experience: In this step of learning cycle staff will be able to learn from different experienceshappening at home, work or other places.Reflection: This stage of learning is helpful for staff members as in this the individuals will beable to review and record experience refers to reflection (The Experiential Learning Cycle,2017).Conceptualise: This refers to generating hypothesis regarding own experiences in differentsituations experienced.Plan: Experiences leads to increase knowledge when individuals reflect their experience,interpret and test those interpretations.1.2 Ways to encourage Lifelong Learning in Personal and Professional ContextsLifelong learning is a never ending and continuous process that plays important role inboth personal and professional life. Lifelong learning provides benefits of remaining confidentand motivated to individuals (Patton, Parker and Tannehill, 2015).
