INTRODUCTION
Human resource management is defined as one of those effective practices that has
been conducted at each organizational workplace in order to recruit talented workers that are
capable to increase the productivity of a brand as well as performance level. The current
assignment will be based on ASDA, which falls under list of top 10 supermarkets in the
United Kingdom. Its mission is to be the most loyal and trustworthy retailers in the retail
industry. Brand vision is to enhanced the customer satisfactory level and deliver quality
products to target market. The main objective of chosen supermarket is to gain competitive
edge and be competitive forever. The study will explain duties, responsibilities and purpose
of human resource. It will define usage of SWOT analysis model in the context of brand and
varied approaches to select and recruit people. Furthermore, the report will justify
effectiveness and advantages of several methods utilized in human resource management
practices and benefits of employee relation, and engagement. It will clarify common on
adoption of flexible companies and working practice.
MAIN BODY
Challenges or issues faced by ASDA
It is not an easy task to sustain a venture within particular industry or market and gain
benefits through this. During the procedure of sustaining businesses, a company and their
management may face varied challenges. Here, certain problems in term of challenge may
discuss that ASDA as the most popular supermarket brand faced, which may put negative
impact on its productivity and activities of gaining competitive advantages.
High turnover-
It is one of the most common issues that several companies like ASDA faces, which
may decrease the performance level of company and also affect its customer satisfactory
level in negative manner (Rasheed and et.al., 2020). There are several reasons behind
employee turnover existed or may emerge at workplace that may negatively influence
worker’s motivation, behavior, morale and performance, which drive their attention towards
job switching that outcomes in high employee turnover. Due to lack of management support,
leadership style and performance appraisal are included in category of motives that occurs
this challenge and may put negative affect on supermarket progress as well as success.
Lack of worker’s contribution-

Just like above, ASDA may face another challenge and that is insufficient support
from candidates that may allow firm to obtain competitive advantages in varied terms
(Kokkodis, Lappas and Ransbotham, 2020). Due to this issue, management may take too
much stress because without contribution and efforts of talented and experience employees,
company is unable to grow and give tough competition to its competitors within retain
industry that available at national & international level. Just because of this challenge,
supermarket may lose chance to reach at global level and develop its brand presence all over
the world, which is quite essential for management to do so.
Less trained employees-
Each challenge or issue, may directly impact brand performance, its productivity and
image in market, which is not acceptable at all by its stakeholders. One of the biggest
challenges that may ASDA face is less trained workers and due to that they are unable to join
the process of aim achievement for which manager may require well-trained, knowledgeable
and experience candidates. Without above support, management may unable to obtain desire
outcomes because of this challenge. It may decrease operational efficiency of brand and
restrict to gain competitive benefits, for which strong and productive teams at workplace is
require.
Low retention rate-
It is one of those key problems that management and overall organization face and
experience their negative affects upon daily activities and practices conduct at workplace,
where many people including manager and leader may perform their duties (Schabracq,
2020). Within ASDA employee retention rate is low, which means that number of staff
members that have experience within supermarket is inappropriate. Poor HRM strategic
planning and implementation may a reason behind this challenge that losses competitive
position of organization in market. Lack of recognition, poor relation between management
and staff, etc. are also covers under list of reasons that emerge this issue.
Accountabilities and roles of HR and their aim as well
Human resource department within ASDA may efforts to increase the productivity of
brand, through which it may achieve strategic goals and objectives in effective manner. here,
certain initiatives by them may discuss below including their main motive.
