This report is based on case study of three different learners that have mixed ability,
diverse background and age. Therefore, it has highlighted all crucial points related to the way
coach as well as mentor work with individuals students so that it can easily learn new things.
Moreover, it has consists of information related to justification of selected strategies that
contributed in meeting individual learners. At last, it has included action plan that helps in
identifying strength and areas where improvement needs to be done in relation to one to one

TASK 1 -REPORT
AC. 1.1 Responsibilities of coach, mentor and teachers while working with individual students
Coach, mentors and teachers perform crucial roles and responsibilities in enhancing
individual learning by providing appropriate guideline and supports so that they grow and
succeed in near future. Likewise it plan, communicate, support interns learning, find alternative
method the way individual can learn and attained its personal goals (Munde and Zentel, 2020).
Therefore, different roles and responsibilities of coach, mentor and teachers has played while
working with individual students can be illustrated as follows:
Plan and communication: The first and foremost responsibilities played by coaching, teacher
and mentor is planning of the way learner can learn new things for growth and development.
Such as teachers, mentor as well as coaching plan strategies, key actions that could be taken for

enhancing learning of Cassie, Aran and Lissa. Furthermore, it openly, clearly communicates
necessary information to them about things that need to be learned so that they can easily grape
the same.
Support interns learning: Another key roles and responsibilities played by teacher, mentors and
coach is that it provide necessary guide and support to different learners as per their needs and
preferences so that they can easily developed new skills and capabilities. Such as in case of
Cassie, mentor, coach and teacher provide assistances to it on the basis of understanding that she
has recently lost her mother that lead in depression (Kubat, 2018). Thus, on the basis of its needs,
mentor provide necessary resources as well as support so that it can quickly learn and get higher
success.
Assessment of overall understanding of learner: Teacher, mentors and coach took steps
related to assessment of overall understanding of leaner to identified things that it has learned
and areas that need to be developed more. Thus, it helps mentors, coach in gaining familiarity
about student learning pattern and deciding appropriate strategies that could helps in improving
its learning capabilities to maximum extend. Such as it is responsibilities of all coach, mentor
and teachers needs to assess understanding of three different learners as they have different
capabilities as well as skills to retained and learn (Ellis, 2020).
A.C. 1. 2 Difference between coaching, mentoring and teaching roles in context of working with
individual learners
From the above case study it can be interpreted that there are different roles that are
played by coach, mentor and teacher while working with individual learners. Likewise teachers
is most well known way that contribute other in learning things in best possible manner. They
have more knowledge, skills and capabilities related to specific subject that facilitate learning so
that student can quickly learn. On the other hand, coaching contribute in developing confidences
and helps in finding the way particular thing can be achieved in best possible manner. While,
mentoring by sharing its personal experienced with learners is able to motivate them about the
way they can develop skills (Rothes, Lemos and Gonçalves, 2017). So, it can be stated that
difference between coaching, mentoring and teaching roles while working with individual
learners can be explained as follows:

teaching also play role
in learning of Cassie
by communicating all
necessary information
related to L2
programme so that it
can learn. Cassie is
suffering from
Dyslexic problem so it
is facing challenges at
time of session
therefore teaching will
play in role to provide
knowledge through
different medium so
that it can learn.
ARAN For Aran learning
coaching will also play
important role as it
guide him to stop
drinking alcohol and
focused more on work
as it has achieved
distinction level.
Coaching will also
provide necessary
support to Aran as is
its trapped by family
expectations. So it will
guide the way it can
meet their expectancy
On the contrary note,
mentoring will tries to
build relationship with
Aran in order to
understand the
problem it has faced
and the way it can
motivate to learn for
better outcome.
Mentor also suggest
Aran to attend college
regular basis as it has
only 45% so that it can

The teacher will
provide all necessary
knowledge related to
the program so that it
can learn the same.
Teacher will also tried
to make session more

Aran is motivated to

things for further
growth and

LISSA Lissa wants to
progress onto
university so the coach
will assist in the way it
can achieved the same.
Mentoring will helps
Lissa in guiding the
way it can focused on
her studies and avoid
getting bored in order
to learn more things.
While teaching play
role of making session
more interesting by
including additional
activities so that
students such as Lissa
can easily learn and
develop their relative
skills.
So, from the above study it can be understand that coaching, mentoring as well as
teaching plays different roles in individual learning. They by performing their respective roles
and responsibilities is able to helps or support individual to learn and get more success.
A.C. 1.3 Effectiveness of coaching, mentoring and teaching roles in meeting individual learning
needs
The above study helps in reviewing that all the three roles that is coaching, mentoring
and teaching contribute in meeting individual needs. As all these play different and different
roles that lead in overall development and fulfilment of learning needs of individuals. Such as it
can be reviewed that coaching by putting its efforts tries to enhance the learning skills of
individual. At the same time it has learned that coaching contribute individual in accessing what
they actually already know or have which they can utilize to complete the task. So in the above
three case, coach on the basis of understanding of each individual needs assist them about the
method that they can use to learn new things (Dubey and Piroska, 2019). Thus, overall coach
assists, supports and encourage individual students to find answer related to the way they can
learn from program or avoid challenges.
It can also be reviewed that mentoring roles also contribute in meeting individual
learning needs as mentor have more experienced, knowledge that it share to its mentee.
Moreover, mentor is somewhat between teachers as well as coaches that does not have teaching
role but are expertise in specific areas thus can easily provide guideline to individual regarding
the way they can achieve their learning needs. Such as in context of the above case study,
Working with Individual Learners: Roles and Responsibilities of Coaches, Mentors, and Teachers_6
mentoring through its knowledge and experienced tries to understand learning needs of
individual and suggest alternative method that it could use to achieve the same.
On contrary note, it can be reviewed that teaching also helps in achieving individual
learning needs as teachers by making use of its skills, experienced and knowledge teach diverse
range of individual. Likewise, in order to teach lissa it has to add more activities that can make
students interested to listen things that are taught in the session rather than getting bored. At the
same time it is stated that there are several factors that are impacting on learning ability of
individual so teachers is considering them while providing knowledge. In context of Aran
teaching also helps in meeting its needs as he submitted work on time and achieve distinct level
so it will suggest to come regular in the class so that it can learn more things.
TASK -2 REFLECTIVE REPORT
AC 2.1 Justification of selection of strategies that is used to meet needs of individual learners
There are the specific learners in the case study named as Cassie, Aran and Lissa that
have different needs. Such as Cassie is 36 years old and lone parent having three children that is
highly concerned about its attendees in the programme. There are various challenges that she is
facing in its life such as it has lost her mother that has make her addicted to alcoholic, feeling
depressed thus all these have impact on its learning ability related to course. So she needs
support as well as care, motivate to do daily exercise as well as meditation in order to stay clam.
It will contribute in retaining useful information for longer time and reducing the stress level
that it is suffering from its daily life challenges (Batterink and Paller, 2017). Another strategies is
that she needs to be aware to avoid intake of alcohol so that it can easily learn as she has
academic ability to study the program. As alcohol is not solution of problem or resolve key issue,
challenges that are faced in personal life so it need to avoid the same to pursue the learning.
Moreover, Cassie is suffering from Dyslexia so specific educational techniques and approaches
need to be used so that it can easily learn. Likewise, as per my point of view, the it teachers,
coach and mentor needs to involve vision, touch and hearing in order to improve reading skills.
Therefore use of sense will contribute in enhancing learning capabilities of Cassie thereby it can
achieve the programme in better manner.
The above study also helps me in understanding another individual learner named as
Aran that is not regularly attending the college. Moreover, the above case study helps in
gathering information that he has recently involved in an gang that is highly known for selling
Working with Individual Learners: Roles and Responsibilities of Coaches, Mentors, and Teachers_7
drugs. At the same time does not have good relationship with its parents which it describe as
toxic as they forced it to do particular task or meet family expectancy. So, it can be illustrated
that he must provide a environment where the teacher or any other individual understand its
feeling, point of view as well as perceptions. He need to be motivated to attend the program on
regular basis rather than having fun with gang that is selling drugs as it impact on his
characteristic (Siegelman, Bogaerts and Frost, 2017). Moreover, family should not enforce him
to do task or set expectancy as it has caused him stress or make poor relationship with them.
Instead, they need to understand him and politely motivate him to become responsible, put
efforts towards learning new and new things to achieve greater success.
AC. 3.1 Resources required for effective multi-agency approach. The factors that are required
when working with learners in relation to provide appropriate supports
Multi agency is an approach that ensure that people that is suffering form specific issue
or at risk needs to be provided with multi supports at early stage so it can learn new things easily.
Actors in Multi-agency partners have more knowledge and capabilities to provide supports to
various individuals that are facing challenges. There are various resources that are required by
multi-agency to provide better supports such as language support, counseling, resources for
different learning needs and opportunities for development of numeracy skills (Schindler and
et.al., 2021). Such as:
Language support: It is the first and foremost resources that need to be provided to all
individual learners as all of them Cassie, Lissa and Aran belong to different countries. Such as
Cassie is from White british, Aran from Asian and lissa is African Caribbean, so they need to be
taught and learned in their own language so that they get benefits of program.
Counseling: Another resources need to be provided by multi agency is providing counseling to
individual learners as each of them are facing different issue. Counseling will help in better
understanding their needs and finding appropriate strategies that could lead maximum benefits
(An and Carr, 2017).
Subject specific professional: Individual learners mentioned in the above case study can also be
provided with professional that have more knowledge and skills related to specific subject. So
that they can use their capabilities and skills to teach the individual learn about the same for their
higher growth.
