INTRODUCTION
Operation management is an administration of business activities that focus on
creating high level of efficiency for an organisation. Its main purpose is to convert raw
materials into finished goods or services that are capable to meet the requirement of
customers by supplying them qualitative products. The project is based upon Innocent Drinks
Company as being most probably known for its smoothes and juice sold in supermarket for
enlarging customers to purchase more of their products. The Chief Executive Officer of
Innocent Drinks Company is Douglas Lamont from May 2013, headquartered in United
Kingdom. This project describes managers and leaders with their definition, roles, functions
and characteristics (Bell, Gallino and Moreno, 2018). It further applies various theories, key
approaches and models of operation management that are played by both managers and
leaders. This project demonstrates the significance and worth for management of business
activities in accomplishing business ambition. Additionally, it assess the factors within
business environment that impact upon operational management and decision making
procedure of an organisation.

P1. Classify managers and leaders with their functions and character
Managers:- This is defined as procedure of top-level-managers to direct and control
the action performed by their leaders and employees with motive for accomplishment of
organisational goal. Its role and characteristics are described with reference to managers of
Innocent Drinks are as follows:-
Roles:-
 Develop goal:- The managers of Innocent Drinks focus on developing strategic
decision making procedure to generate new idea that is capable to congregate the
necessity of potential consumers.
 Increase motivation:- The managers of Innocent Drinks motivates their employees
by encouraging them to perform their actions with specialisation and less time
consumption. They motivate their workers by providing them tangible and intangible
rewards such as incentives, promotion, etc.
Characteristics:-
 Target-Oriented:- The managers of Innocent Drinks are highly target-oriented as
they have the determination to achieve the specific target within particular duration
that increase their efficiency (Deng and et.al., 2018).
 Respect for employees:- It is the duty for Innocent Drinks managers to respect the
efforts of their employees in accomplishment of organisational goal and objectives.
This develops employee relation through engagement and involvement by interacting
with one another.

Leaders:- It is the duty and responsibility of leaders to follow instructions and
commands of managers and to complete their task with proper direction and guidance as to
achieve their target which leads to achieve success. The HR manager of Innocent Drinks
must develop effective leadership through building corporate social responsibility,
maintaining good culture, values and ethics in order to sustain in perfect competition market.
The function and description of leaders are explained with reference to Innocent Drinks as

Roles:-
 Team Player:- The leaders of Innocent Drinks are described as team players in order
to take the whole responsibility of effective group upon it. This increase the ability to
perform their actions collectively to achieve specific target.

individual by decentralising their task through division of work that by describing
them their role, task and target that is to be achieved efficiently (Douglas, 2019).
Characteristics:-
 Develop employee relations:- The main characteristics of leaders in Innocent Drinks
Company is to develop employee relations through developing trust and faith, love
and belongings, engagement and involvement with each other.
 Effective communication:- The leaders of Innocent Drinks focus on communicating
with their employees through verbal and non-verbal communication skills.

Functions of Managers:- The managers functions their activities for being stable in
perfect competition market to achieve success. Managers of Innocent Drinks observe the
presentation of workers by implementing remedies for mistakes through strategising
corrective measures to improve it easily. These functions are mentioned below as:-
 Planning:- This procedure of thinking about the activities which create opportunity
for business to achieve success efficiently. It is the ability of Innocent Drinks
managers to forecast information related with creation and maintenance of plan for
developing strategy, tactics, operation and contingency planning. Leaders of Innocent
Drinks focus predicting strategies that leads to manufacture specialised product which
is capable to meet the requirements of customers.
 Organising:- It is the set of activities performed by workers through decentralisation
in accordance for improving specialisation (Kerzner, 2019). The main aim for

of employees by analysing their working style which is capable to produce qualitative

is to attract large number of buyers through supplying superior finished goods by
providing them high level of satisfaction. Leaders of Innocent Drinks control the
actions of employees by analysing their skills and capability with their time
consumption in particular activity.

satisfaction of buyers.

available in business which might create threat in accomplishment of success. The

such as B. Fresh Foods, Boost Juice Bars, Drinks and PepsiCo, etc.

upon business administration and managerial process (Tian and Jiang, 2018).

PESTLE Analysis for Innocent Drinks:- This framework analyse changes in macro-
environmental factors that affects growth and stability of business either positively or
negatively for achievement of organisational goals. These factors are mentioned as under:-

approaches and models of operation management that are played by both managers and
leaders include situational, system and contingency leadership. This project demonstrates the

significance and worth for administration of business in attaining business intention.
Additionally, it assess business environment through political, economical, social,
technological, legal and environmental factors that impact upon operational management and
decision making procedure.
