Q1 Explain ways that the culture of health, safety and welfare can be promoted
and encouraged. (AC1.4)
A1. The culture of health, safety and welfare can be promoted and encouraged by the
following ways: i) conduct thorough risk assessment of the construction site
ii) Encourage the workers to report regarding the safety and health issues
iii) Develop a safety training sessions which will help the workers to prioritize
the safety and health concern in the Construction site
Q2 Explain how you identify opportunities to improve health, safety and
welfare and make appropriate recommendations (AC1.5)
A2. The safety, Health and welfare can be improved by the following ways:
i) Proper use of the equipment in the Construction
ii) Awareness
iii) Training
iv) Communication
v) Documentation
vi) Innovation
vii) Supervision
viii) Transparency
Q3 Describe how, and to whom health, safety and welfare responsibilities should
be allocated. (AC2.4)
A3. The contractor should be allocated to handle all the safety and health issues of the
worker who are working under his or her guidance. The employee should feel free to
deliver their safety and health report in regular basis to their contractor.
Q4 Explain methods and techniques of conducting site inductions and list typical
subject areas that should be covered. (AC2.5)
A4. Different methods or techniques to effectively conduct site induction are as
follows:
i) Ensuring that the work is completed safely
ii) Cover typical hazards
iii) Briefly explain all the first aid or the emergency procedures for any
hazards.
Q5 Explain methods that can be used to implement systems that can report and
record accidents, emergencies and near misses (AC5.5)
A5. The Construction management should prepare a RIDDOR (porting of Injuries,
Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations) team who will report and
record of Work related accidents, dangerous occurrence, Worl related deaths
and so on.

Q6 How do you ensure notices and hazard warnings comply with current
legislation, (AC3.3)
A6. Notices and hazardous warning can comply with the current legislation by:
i) Avoiding the falling objects
ii) Delivery of other site vehicles.
iii) Storing and stacking of materials.
Q7 How do you maintain accurate and appropriate notices and hazard
warnings for the workforce, visitors and the public, (AC3.4)
A7. Notices or the hazardous warnings should be maintained among the workforce
by: Specifying the site boundaries, developing the authorization methods,
specifying the vulnerable premises and groups that needs attention.
Q8 Why do you need to ensure accurate and appropriate notices are
maintained and explain possible consequences should they not be (AC3.5)
A8. Accurate and appropriate notices should be maintained in the construction site to
ensure that the work is completed without harming any worker’s health.
Q9 Describe the types of health, safety and welfare equipment and resources that
would be needed for relevant work activities.,(AC4.4)
A9. The worker should individually have PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) like
helmet, ear and eye protection, gloves and boots and so on.
Q10 Explain how to ensure that health, safety and welfare equipment and resources
comply with current legislation. (AC4.6)
A10. The equipments used in the construction site should maintain the Provision and
Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) which detailed
i) suitable utilization of the equipments
ii) It is used safely
iii) Used by the worker who are authenticated to use the device or equipment.
Q11 Explain how systems which meet current legislation requirements for
identifying and reducing hazards should be implemented. (AC5.4)
A11. RIDDOR team should be prepared who will gather information regarding the
hazardous side of the construction and analyse them and also deliver
information to the worker to rise the concern regarding the hazardous working
environment.
Q12 How would you obtain information on hazards and risks (AC6.4)
A12. Hazards and risk can be identified by operating HIRA process at any stage of the
work which will help to analyse the risk of the working environment.
Q13 How can risks and hazards be reduced and information provided to relevant
people (AC7.6)
A13. Risk or the hazards can be reduced by the following ways:
i) Suitable and effective training
ii) Avoid operating close to moving object
iii) Proper use of PPE
