The mobile apps mainly rely in the demand, location and food product's availability. The

This is a consultancy report, where as a consultant I am bidding a project for Company X,
which is a Small to Medium Enterprise (SME) providing food products to the catering trade.
This ensures to test important business skills. To win a client project, bidding is done so I need to
find what can be done in the future. This research ensures to develop an application for Company
X, to support its catering business.
Company X wants to ensure a competitive level of service, where it is considering the
suitability of an application creation for its customers. As, it is a food industry, it is not aware of
app development, subsequently this is given to a specialized company and it will need
investment of scarce resources. Hence, Company X is looking for a consultant to undertake a
scoping study to help determine the project requirements.
The advanced innovation helps various industries, for instance, the food industry can be
benefited with food delivery application. The food industry has high potential, which can result
in profit. With the growing usage of applications, the customers demand application for all sorts

pricing (i.e., 55% people), check out for new offers and deals (i.e., 38.2% people), order food
online (i.e., 30%people) and make reservations (i.e., 23.8%people).
In the world, by 20120 nearly 3 billion smartphone users will be available. Thus, it
creates large market demand, and provides the idea of mobile application’s importance to order
food. There are many food applications already available in the market such as Zomato,
Foursquare, Swiggy etc. This shows the competition to sustain in the market, and achieve
growth. The other fact that proves the importance of mobile application is Starbucks, which
achieved 16% profit through mobile application (Parmar, 2019). Moreover, by being a SME, it
contributes to the local economies, as it brings growth and technology to the community, for
business establishment. The main contribution is employment opportunities that it offers and the
local people.

The following section provides some of the key facts about mobile usage. Today, when
compared to the other media, people spend a lot of time online, especial the time that they spend
on mobile phones is increasing drastically. Around 62 percent of the global population could
change their mind about a brand, based on the opportunity of providing mobile apps or purchase
goods and services through smartphone. Nearly, 80 percent of the time spent on mobile phones is
spent using apps. Mobile applications give user experience that the responsive websites fail to
provide. Internet of Things (IoT) devices are mobile application centric (Rajput, 2015). Thus, in
today’s world, the mobile applications are becoming the dominating form of digital interaction,
and customers are on the move and using mobile application platforms to get there. Also,
whether they use mobile phones, tablets, smartphone, they have all the information they require
and that’s why mobile apps are extremely essential in today’s business environment.
“Mobile apps are not just for the B2C Market. Apple’s iOS is becoming the most popular
platform for enterprise app development – with 53.2% of developers picking iOS for corporate
app development compared to 37.4% of developers standing behind Android. RIM’s BlackBerry,
the old guard of enterprise mobility, came in a distant fourth behind Windows Phone with only
2% of developers supporting it.
Thanks to information technology and the application phenomena, the mobile
applications for the enterprises have allowed to move away from the form driven screens. The
applications of Business-to-Enterprise (B2E) are now expected to give guided and polished
business process, with zero learning curve. It is a blessing if the mobile projects work right for
the business, if not it can be a loss. When it turns out to be successful, it facilitates the benefits to
the change management, process conformity, training, and allows maximum throughput (Ninja,
2013).
Various small businesses have developed their own dedicated mobile application to
improve their potential of modern digital communication. The following advantages are offered
if a company effectively uses mobile application- It increases the company’s visibility to the
customers, it creates direct marketing channel, provides value for the customers, builds brand
and recognition, improves customer engagement, stands out from the competition, and ensures
customer loyalty.
