INTRODUCTIONOperational management refers to a focus on the practices that is designed to monitor andmanage all the processes within the production and the distribution of products and services. Theproduct and creation and the service development are the largest activities that operationmanagement mainly focuses on (McFadden, Stock and Gowen III, 2015). The primary goals ofthe operation management is to manage purchase, monitor inventory and preserving the quality.The analysis of the company's internal process is also included in the operation management.The supply chain management and the logistics are the two terms that for operation management.In both areas' operation management has firm foundations. For an instance in order to meetdemand of the customers the understanding of global trend in supply chain management can beuseful. The careful planning of resources can be done with the help of logistics. In order to fulfilthe strategic goals of the business the operation management can be used. The process of planning, implementing, controlling procedures for the efficienttransportation and storage of good is known as logistics. The aim of the logistics is to satisfy theneeds of the customers. For very company the operation management is the core function. Byusing the concept of operation management the people, technology, and all other good servicescan be managed that are needed in production goods and services (Mitra, 2016. ).Introduction of the company and the two selected topics The Cambridge University Hospital NHS foundation trust is one of UK's NHSfoundation trust. In the Cambridge area and in the south-east England this trust provides healthycare for people. The specialist care is being offered by this hospital. For the efficientfunctionality and provision of health serveries operation management is essential. A considerableamount of reform is being there in health care sector and also the jobs of these who manage theheath care operations is also changing as well. All the needs of the patients is being looked afterin this hospital (Mosadeghrad, 2014.).The two selected topics is the managing quality and the second one is JIT, lean andagility. The effectiveness of the treatment can be improved through the quality management andalso the with the service that is being given to the patients the satisfaction will be increased.Quality management in the health care is gaining increased attention with an ageing populationand increase in health care costs. On the needs of the patients the effective quality managementwill focus as the effectiveness of the treatments and appropriateness of the service will be judged1
