INTRODUCTION
From the word Leadership, one can get and interpret various images in the mind, where they
figure out some Political leader or business leader or any social leader from history and frm
present as well (Chen, and Rybak, 2017). But in concrete words, leadership is considered to be
the task of doing things right in the right manner and also getting them done from others as well.
Leaders are involved in setting direction, build an inspiring vision, and create something new.
Leadership is also considered as the way of seeking the path and securing the "win" for the team
and for respective organization that could be really dynamic, exciting, and inspiring. While,
leaders are engaged in leading the people, they are also doing the work and getting the work
done from employees. Therefore, management role in leaders is also inevitable, in guiding their
employees in right destination, in a smooth and efficient way (What Is Leadership? 2019).
In this report I have discussed various scenarios related to leadership styles, skills and
attitude that was shown by me as leader. The leadership scenario is of the time when I was
leading a team of 8 people and we all were engaged in developing a Mobile application related to
workout for people willing to do at home. This application had been developed last year at the
time of COVID-19 and lockdown. The company wanted it to launch at this time so that people
can manage their exercise and workout routine at home, at that time of crisis. The report is a Self
reflection report on leadership style, at that time of leading the team, and is divided in 5 different
activities. Each activity is dedicated to a separate aspect of leadership. Whereas, in the activity 5
I have also analyzed my different strengths and weaknesses as a leader.
ACTIVITY 1
In this activity of the report I shall be analyzing and discussing various feedbacks and
reverts and opinions that I had received while organizing my team of product developer workers.
As, me and my team members were also engaged in managing the quality of products, that are
Mobile applications for working out at home, therefore, in this scenario, there were a lot of
feedback and reviews received by us, from consumers, from the company for which application
was being developed, from people in society and from the team members themselves. The
experience was helpful, learning, hardworking and inspirational (Sousa, and Rocha, 2019). Many

of the suggestions that were received were very inspiring in building up future capacity as well.
Also, it is worthwhile of mentioning that, as Mobile application was being developed in a team,
suggestions that were received by team members at different places from different people were
also shared equally. In this concern, many social media platforms and messenger application of
modern technologies like, WhatsApp and Instagram have been really helpful. These platforms
had supported in many ways, the foremost being, conversations and sharing of ideas were made
in continuity between the team. Besides communicating in team, members also made their
private communication, where they helped each other personally as a friend. Also, sharing of
ideas and suggestions in virtual modes were also possible, in the form of photos, videos and
graphics s well. Frequent video calls were also supported. In this way, while developing the
Workout application, sharing of suggestions and feedbacks, that forms a very essential part of
communication were facilitated and supported by the mechanism as well. Also, in this section of
report, important feedbacks that had been received by the Team, in overall, had been discussed,
together with the ways these suggestions were implied and responded by the Team.
The most important and the most frequent response of the people was regarding the ways
leadership was probably effective. Many observers said that efficacy of overall team
depends over the ways its leadership is performing. There is a very popular quote as well,
that when blind leads the blind, they both fail, but in this team work, that was done by 8
members team of us, leadership was not blind, neither were the members in the Team.
However, it would be also right in a way to mention that, there was as such no leadership,
we all were working in a team. There were times that while working my team members
had debate with me on right things. Many times it is possible that team members are
having some good, effective and practical knowledge of any particular matter, and for
that matter I had instructed to do in my way, possible ways could be inefficient,
traditional or obsolete (Karagianni and Jude Montgomery, 2018). But, the team members
were having some realistic and very efficient knowledge. And, so on that note, members
had made some crucial and effective debates with me. On my part, there was a clear and
sheer acceptance. I had accepted their due suggestions, and respected them as well. I have
not reacted like, I am the leader and things has to be done according to me only. My team
members were well established and intelligent engineers, technicians and application

developers. Only 2 of them were new joiners. Besides, all others were having some
reliable experience in this regard.
As it was mentioned earlier as well, in this section, that communication techniques and
methods were effectively chosen and also they were really effectively utilized by the
team members. The most important thing, that can also be said as some unique in its
regard, that the techniques of communication were chose by entire team collectively. For
example, developing a WhatsApp group could be said to be as the most common idea
that can come in someone’s mind, but it was getting ready indeed in minds of team
workers (Leffler, 2020). The most obvious reason behind this was seen as, most of the
members in the team, that had professionalism and years of working in this field and
developing applications, they believed in professionalism only. Many of them went on
mentioning that, we shall be developing a separate application completely for handling
team communications. But, the newer generation resisted to it. Their arguments were
really genuine, where they told that why should be we investing time and money in a new
application when our work is due for developing another application, which does really
matter. Also, the newer generation members laid down multiple benefits that WhatsApp
chat platform had. Biggest doubt in the minds of team members, was regarding the level
of privacy that WhatsApp has. Members argued that, as they will be communicating over
this platform, there are chances that communications will not remain private and can be
accessed by third party. But, members made it sure that communications here are end-to-
end encrypted. They laid down several practical examples when communications were
tried to get accessed but they were not made possible, because the restraint barriers are
stronger. Also, there were many litigations and legal cases that had made efficacy of
privacy on WhatsApp. Also, terms and conditions of WhatsApp itself are also very much
efficient, related to privacy. In this manner, when all these points were put forward by the
team members, confidence of other team members was also booted, and they agreed to
this mode of communication. Also, there was an advantage that, number of members in
our team was low, restricted to 8 only. Therefore, management of communication
through such channel could be easily facilitated. Besides, together we all were just a
team, that had joint hand for developing a Mobile application of Workout, for another
company and we ourselves were not a company. therefore, no secret details of the

company itself as such were getting shared on WhatsApp, we were only making our
regular work communication (Polat, Arslan and Dincer, 2017)).
Another, most overwhelming review that was received by us was regarding the efficacy
of performance of all the workers. This review was one of the most remarkable and
prominent for the entire team, because it was made by supervisors of the company for
which Application was being developed. They came over to visit the developments that
were being made and to observe that whether or not work is going as per se targets. And,
when they made their observations, they insisted on making an informal meeting with the
team (Knight and Novoselich, 2017). Although, that meeting tuned into a party and many
encouraging remarks were made by those supervisors for the team. At best, they pointed
out that all members in the team were proficient doers, no one of them seemed to be
wasting their useful time, and they all seemed really dedicated. These remarks were
accompanied by appreciations for the quality of work that was being done by workers,
and also within targeted time range. Also, those supervisors remarked that members here
were motivating each other. They were not just helping out each other but also they
insisted on raising bar of standards of work for each other. Another observation of those
supervisors was a gratitude towards the leader of the team. They said that leadership had
emphasized over one thing very appreciably. That, they emphasized on keeping number
of members in a team low, so that understanding and management between all can be
smoothened. This was not just a remark, but they said it is a gesture of gratitude, because
through this work is getting done efficiently and well on time.
ACTIVITY 2
How do you show leadership in your current role? Please provide examples.
In the current example of Team work, that i have reflected in this report, I assess that
leadership role shown by me had been a very significant and prominent one. I feel that, the
best decision of myself was adopting a democratic and positive approach in dealing with my
team members. I allowed them of having an equal participation in working altogether. As t
had been discussed in the earlier section that, I allowed all members to make their respective
decisions and never tried on anyone to get my decision imposed in an authoritative manner.
