INTRODUCTION
The aim of the report is to demonstrate understanding of ethics and values in an organisation
context. Ethics are the beliefs, norms, and value an individual ascertain while taking decisions
into life. Ethics are significant to set boundaries of working in which there are various rules and
limitations are adhered. This report is classified into three sections, in which first will provide
clear judgements on ethics and its factors on workplace, second will show cause and effect
relation and lastly, important of collaborative working(Chavan, and Carter, 2018). The
organisation undertook for this section is NHS and Sainsbury's. Both companies are well reputed
firm of London, United Kingdom.
MAIN BODY
TASK 1
A) What is meant by ethics and factor
that affects it.
Ethics and factors for diversified range of
activities.
Ethics are the principles and norms
which differs from one individual to other as
they are based on individual’s culture,
perception and values. Every person is
indifferent in their behaviour which is
influenced by the society and culture they
live in. People desires to live peacefully and
treated with respect, love and dignity which
all comes under the ethics set into society
and culture. Ethics are significant while
conducting business, campaigns, workshops,
education or any activity in which people
are involved(Elden, 2017). These ethics are
termed as morals which reflect what is good
and bad a business should perform while
regulating business activities. Ethical code
of conduct gives rise a business to
sustainable development as they follow all
cultural perspective into their working.
People does not want anything which hurt
their sentiments or values they believe in, so
it is essential for business who work in
diversified range of locations and activities
to identify their customers and their
perceptions(Haas, and Eble, eds., 2018).
Main examples of ethics a business must be
undertake are honesty, fairness, and
community interest while serving to society.
There are various factors that affects and
highlight on performing ethical
consideration are legislations, social

pressures and personal code of conduct
which are fulfil by Sainsbury' s.
Personal code of conduct: An
individual has their own values and
perceptions to buy any product from market.
They work on their set ethics which
influence on the decision making of
Sainsbury’s. for example, vegetarians are
only look for particular food shop where non
veg items are not servicing as it is not under
their ethics and culture to eat in that
environment(Hall‐Clifford, 2020). For
instance, Sainsbury’s ensure about
customer’s behaviours and wants by keeping
two different departments for vegetarians
and non- vegetarians to provide fair demand
and serving into society
Social pressures: There are a lot of
social pressures organisation face in terms of
security and health concern of society. Any
allegations on product and service of
company will lead to winding up. Therefore,
ethics must be followed in terms of superior
quality products, safe equipment’s and wise
language while delivering service.
Sainsbury's work under all these ethics as
the products are highly quality affective with
professional conduct into organisation to
treat all their customers equally with
respects and dignity.
Legislations: Government intervention
create influence on miss leading acts,
unethical code of business, breech of acts
and unfair treatment into society. These acts
influence on business to take wise decisions
during business activities so that customers
would not loose trust and loyalty towards
company. Sainsbury's perform all the act of
fairness towards employee, investors,
shareholders and customer by providing
equal benefits whether in pays or price and
product.
B) Discuss why workplace ethics are
important in an organisation.
