INTEGRATIVE SUMMARY
INTRODUCTION
THESIS STATEMENT-Corporate social responsibility in the contemporary period
consists of different areas of development of the society, of which one of the primary one is
that of water, sanitation and hygiene. The concerned report tries to explore the aspects of
CSR in this field for the concerned company.
The scope of the paper aims to provide the importance of water, sanitation and
hygiene in Australia. The paper also states the ways in which the concerned company can
provide proper sanitation, hygiene and clean water. In order to survive three things that are
essential for the development and survival of children and women are basic toilet, clean water
and good hygiene. However, there are billions of people who do not have access to proper
sanitation or improved water sources( The Conversation. 2018). Access to proper sanitation,
hygiene and clean water can also lead to healthy life, reduction of poverty, reduction of death
from disease and economic development. One of the leading causes of death for the children
under five years old are due to diseases related to water and sanitation. Therefore, enough
good quality drinking water, proper sanitation and good hygiene practices in schools is one of
the most important method in order to reduce the number of lives lost ( Ficci.in. 2018). The
short form of water, sanitation and hygiene is WASH. Lack of sanitation also results to
diarrhoea among children which contributes to large scale deaths. As Australia is very much
prone to droughts therefore delivering safe water to home is very essential. According to the
World Health Organisations proper sanitation, providing clean and safe water can reduce the
burden of disease to a great extent (The Conversation. 2018). Poor sanitation process had
resulted in premature deaths. Millions of people around the world suffers from many kind of

illness due to shortage of water. Most of the women spend maximum amount of time for
fetching safe and clean water. Therefore, there are lot of programs taken by UNICEF in order
to provide clean and safe water, sanitation which is quite improved into the schools.
One of the major areas of development is water, sanitation and hygiene in Australia.
Australia is very much prone to droughts and therefore many regions have imposed
restrictions on the usage of water. The Heath for Development Strategy has found that
investing for water sanitation and hygiene is a very important foundation for people’s health
and for maintaining good quality of life. Inadequate access to basic sanitation, poor hygiene
practices and safe drinking water can put a toll on the health of women and children . When
people are denied from attaining certain opportunities, rights and resources that the members
of different group have access to is known as social inclusion (The Conversation.2018).
Along with the access to water supply there had been lot of disparities while access to
sanitation between the rich and the poor based on geographical region and regions. Providing
adequate amount of water supply is also essential for social inclusion. In order to identify
poor households and people living in slums and by surveying their pattern of consumption
will improve planning for the poor and proper delivery of clean water will also be made
possible( Ficci.in 2018). Making flexible water points should be made so that more remote
households in order to provide disabled friendly latrines and water supply. As improper
hygiene practices and poor water can also lead to glue ear and permanent hearing loss. The
report therefore aims to provide information on how lean water, proper sanitation and
hygiene will save millions of people’s lives.
One of the main aspects of corporate social responsibility is developing proper
