INTRODUCTION
Work based learning is analysed as educational plan or tactics that offer real life experience
to its scholars associated to work within they can applied on academic as well as technical ability
and also develop their employability. It also consists theory with practices and also maximises
knowledge of intersection of tactical forms of understanding. In this report, the Travelodge is
taken in to consideration with the aim of completion of the document (Podschuweit and
Bernholt, 2018). It is a private company which operating in the hotels and hospitality sector
throughout the UK. It was incorporated in 1985 and is headquartered in Thame, England. This
particular document will consider information about skill audit and develop a personal
development plan. They also offer explanation in context of short report which support in
evaluating competencies and ability needed for executing work in an adequate form.

Personal skill audits related to the process of making contrast between abilities as well as
skills in perspective of the competency and abilities that required for performing particular
function or role in appropriate manner (Song, 2018). Within this, my personal skill audit which

According to above mentioned skill audit, it can be summarised and analysed that there is
huge and lot of gap for skill development and enhancement that will provide me support in
acquiring important skill towards job role of sales manager in Travelodge (Çelik, 2018).
Preceding, mentioned personal skill audit can use by me for conducting internal determination by
SWOT analysis model that will help me in assessing and clarity of area where development is
important for sales manager job profile within the specific hospitality sector company.

 Team development is my shortcoming
that creates issues for me when
executing in a company. With this
limitation, i cannot support in making
and developing an effective team which
will support in accomplishing daily
base target in appropriate manner.
 In addition to this, my other weakness
is technical skills as I am not good in
executing my function and
responsibilities by utilising new
technologies and other software.
 Market research skill is also one of my
main shortcomings and it is importance
for me to progress my specific ability
for executing as a role of a sale

manager in management because it will
support me in shaping target people
needs and demands.
Opportunity Threats
 With the support of determination skill,
I will be able to get several options as
with the support of it, I will be able to
determine sales of the establishment in
effective manner (Miller, 2018).
 While executing the role as sales
administrator role in company,
ineffective market skill will work as a
risk for me as due to this, I will not able
to determine necessities and needs of
customers in effective and efficient
manner.
Personal development plan refers to the invariable process of knowledge and acquiring
new abilities and skills for executing the job openly or correctly through official guidance
process and analysing execution of other employees. Personal development plan is considered as

making development in my some skills, I can make progress in planning as well as commence
the work duties. With the support of team development skill, I can create and build an effective
sales and marketing team which will support me in offering information about the sales and the
achievement of targets which are set by the management of Travelodge to accomplish in a set
time period. Along with this, by making development in my market research skill in set time
frame, I can get information about the demand and preferences of consumers this will support me
in making development in organisations sales and profits (Song, 2018). Whereas development in
technical skill will support me in performing my job duties and accountabilities in faster or easier
manner as well as maintain the record about the sales etc.

Interpersonal skills- Strong communication skill and ability is analysed as a most crucial
skill that is needed for particular job within business establishment (Çelik, 2018). The
communication ability is crucial for specific job to motivate subordinate or performing their
work and accomplish objective on time. Therefore, interpersonal skill supports the people in
motivating its employees that assist in maximise in profitability within Travelodge.
Team development skills- In Travelodge, it is needed for sales manager to have team
development in order to maximise profits of company in upcoming time frame.
Technical skills- This skill is needed for the job role of sales manager because with the use
of software like MS office they can maintain the sales related record and other work in more
amended form.
Market research- It is analysed as foremost accountability of individual to organise
research in context of aware with the consumer needs which support in maximising sales of
Travelodge in upcoming time.
Creative thinking ability- This is another effective skill that will also required for the job
role of sales manager because with the help of it the person can think in creative manner to offer
services which help in accomplishing competitive benefits over competitors in the marketplace.

This has been analysed form the above information that with the help of having effective
skills, I can make development in some of abilities and competencies. For example, I have good
interpersonal skills which will support me in gaining different skills and abilities like
communication, leadership and motivational skills which will support me in making interaction
with consumers or guests, leading team and encourage people of the team so that they can
perform their work in more developed manner. Along with this, during the learning and progress,
I also face a gap in my communication skill which is occurred due to different languages of
communication (Voet and De Wever, 2019). In Travelodge, there are number of consumers visits
which belong form different regions as well as use different languages in their communication
which create issues for me.
5. Include a short report for your planning for a future career role
In order to get success on the role of Sales manager in Travelodge Hotel, I will plan to make
development in my knowledge, skills and experiences. Firstly, I will make focus on my
competencies like communication and research skills because when i will have good

communication then I will able to make effective interaction with people or target audiences.
This will support me in offering detailed information about the consumer demands and
necessities. This will help me in providing services as per then and retaining consumer with the
firm till long term (Miller, 2018). This will also beneficial for my career development because
when I will perform well on my current job role then it will support me in my growth and
success as well as promotion. Along with this, I also planned to learn different languages
because on my current job role, it will be crucial for my future development. Because with the
help of it I can easily interact with different customers who use different languages as it will feel
them more comfortable and they can easily share their perception regarding services, hotel and
about their demands.
CONCLUSION
As per the above defined information, it has been assessed that work based learning offer
real life knowledge to its scholars associated to work within they can applied on academic as
well as technical ability and also develop their employability. It also merges theory along with
activities and also maximises knowledge of interaction of tactical forms of understanding, In this
assessment, there is a discussion towards skill audit and also manage personal development plan.
