For the purpose of this project you are required to select your workplace or a simulated operation with
staff (colleagues) relevant to your training as negotiated with or instructed by your trainer or teacher.
You are required to develop a complete WHS system for the chosen organisation, addressing all
criteria outlined below. For this purpose you will be required to consult with colleagues to identify
existing work place processes, WHS processes and procedures in order to develop the actual WHS
system. All evidence of consultation must be documented, including names, dates and details
discussed and attached to this project.
Your work may be submitted electronically or as instructed by your trainer or teacher. Where links are
provided you are encouraged to access these to explore supporting information and aids provided.
All sources you access and use for the purpose of developing this WHS system, must be listed and
referenced.
1. Provide an overview of the activities carried out by your organisation. Include a statement for
the structure, characteristics and needs of the organisation.
Auvers is a restaurant and café that provides service related to the food products and coffee.
It is located in Sydney. Various activities are carried out by the organisation such as it
provides coffee, food items. Innovation in creating better environment of the restaurant is also
a major concern of the organisation. Company offer a very good quality coffee for the
customer. It is the major reason for the increased customer engagement of the company.
ingredients for food products are sourced from the Australian Farmers in order to keep the
best quality of the food product served by Auvers café. Structure of the organisation is
inspired by the art. Company believes that the art is the shared experience of one’s angels
and demons (Auvers Sydney, 2021). Characteristics of the organisation include high quality
food products, Appropriate equipment, atmosphere, satisfaction and safety of customer. The
company need to develop the business and explore the environment of the restaurant in
different location across the world. Auvers café provide the best quality coffee and
environment to meet the needs and desire of the customer in order to increase the customer
satisfaction and engagement as it will improve the growth of the organisation and lead to the
better recognition of the organisation around the world

2. Access the state legislation relevant to your state of training and the Safework website and
identify the legislation that applies to the organisation.
There are various laws and regulation that are implemented in order to maintain the safety of
the worker in the organisation. Australia developed a model to ensure the safe work and
training in the country. Work Health and Safety became legally mandatory law that allowed
states and territories to implement them as their own regulations. The laws include WHS Act,
WHS regulations and codes of practise.
Model WHS Act: Work Health and Safety act focus on the nationally consistent framework that
secures the health and safety of the employees in the organisation.
Model WHS Regulations: It focused on the requirement in order to support the duties in the
Model WHS act. The Rules and regulation were prepared for the Act that help the model to
achi9eve the major objective of providing safety to the workers in the organisation.
Model Codes of Practise: It refers to the practical guide that achieve the standards of health
and safety mentioned in the Act and regulations. Approved cods of practice include evidence
of risk, hazard or control. It also includes code that identify the practises in the circumstances.
Legislation that applies on the organisation include
Protecting the workers of the organization and other persons from distress with the help
requiring duty holders that remove or reduce the risk.
Promoting the facilities in order to provide information, advice, education and training for Work
Health and Safety
Developing and Maintaining national agreement of WHS laws and providing a consistent
national strategy to Work, health and safety of employees.
Ensuing the security with Act through effective and appropriate measures in the organization.
3. Identify the relevant model Codes of Practice that apply for the organisation, for example
Manual Handling; Managing the Work Environment and Facilities; Consultation etc.
Different codes of Practises have been applied by Auvers to ensure the Work health and safety of
the people in the organisation. Effective work environment of the company is greatly affect by the
safety of the workers. Codes of practises for the safety of the people implemented by Auvers are as
follows:
Manual handling: organisation provide guidance to employees that conduct information on the ways
that can help the worker to manage the risk of disorders of muscles, nerves, joint and other injuries
arising from hazardous manual task in the workplace. Information are provided to the chefs in the
restaurants to keep them safe from the burning and other injuries that may cause during the
operational activities in the company.
Managing the work environment and facilities: Company provide practical guidance to the employees
on method that could contribute in maintaining safe and healthy physical work environment.
management of the organisation keeps all the facilities in order to reduce the risk related to the health
and safety of the employees in the company such as fire extinguisher, medical equipment, toilets,
hand washing facilities and keeps the workplace healthy to ensure the safety of the workers in the
restaurant.
Consultation: company provides a safe and healthy workplace environment where employees are
kept aware of health and safety matters in the organisation. Managers talk about the health and
safety with the employees and share views and information. Consideration of employees are also
taken in the decision related to the safety of the people in the Company.

4. Consult with your colleagues and identify:

4. Issues with machinery, equipment or materials
5. Incidents or accidents which have occurred
6. Known or identified issues with training
7. Provisions for security emergency procedures in place
Consultation has been done with the owner and restaurant manager of Auvers restaurant in
order to discuss the health and safety of the employees. adequacy facilities are provided by
the organisation such as welfare and a healthy good working environment that allows the
employee to work effectively. Workers also feels safe in working at Auvers. However,
communication in among the employees is not effective. Issus related has been raised
shortage of inventory and safety equipment in the organisation. Existing arrangement for
consulting include regular scheduled meeting and team discussion and changes are made
that may affect the health and safety of workers. However, issue has been identified related to
the slippery floor near the dish washing area. But other facilities are very good such as staff of
the restaurant have appropriate restroom, uniform changing facilities. It also includes common
area for the employees. discussion with manager of Auvers restaurant also stated that the
provisions are taken effectively for security emergency procedures in the workplace of the
organisation that include keeping emergency updated. Issues in machinery equipment arise
as sometimes heater does not work and microwave also does not work properly. Training of
the employees is also complicated that lead to the misunderstanding among the employees
related to the utilization of health and safety measures in the restaurant

Objective
The major objective of Auvers is to improve the health and safety measures by implementation of effective
health and safety policy that reduce the hazard and improve safety of workers in the organisation.
Legal compliance
Employees must manage and conduct activity in such a manner that ensure the safety, health and welfare of
the employees in the organisation that include use of cooking equipment, health and safety inventories and
sharp utensils.
Requirements and provisions
Organisation must have appropriate equipment in order to handle the emergency n the organisation such as fire
extinguisher, medical equipment and emergency alarm in working condition. Employees must take the customer
and other staff out of the restaurant immediately after emergency alarm beeps.
Employer responsibilities to provide a safe workplace
Employers are responsible for the safety of the employee, others measures including responsibility towards the
proper condition of the assets. It a duty of employer to keep the assets well maintained.
Employee responsibilities
Employees are responsible for the transferring the wrong information. Communication in the organisation must
be effective for the safety of workers in the organisation.
Requirement to consult, designated times
It is essential to conduct scheduled meeting of the employers and employees in the organisation to take
effective measures and decision related to the health and safety of the employees. consideration of employees
is necessary before taking decision.
Use of work health and safety representatives and committees
roles and responsibilities related to the health and safety of the employees the health programme of the
organisation must include the following measures by the health community.
Provide a forum for committee members to discuss WHS issues
Develop plans or procedures to resolve the identified issues
Recommend corrective actions to reduce hazards
Address any additional health and safety issues
Evaluate reports submitted by the HSRs
Training requirements for each policy and procedure
Effective training must be provided to the employees in such a manner that can be easily understood by the
employees of the organisation. There should be no complexity in the training procedure. Training plan of the

Hazard identification and risk assessment provisions
In order to identify the Hazard employee and employers must be alert every tie if someone see, smells or hear
something strange, inform others and take necessary measurement in order to reduce the risk of hazard.
Evaluation of risk and deciding the precaution is the major responsibility of the employers in the organisation.
