1.2 Impact of regulating and ethical ways to recruitment and selection process
Various rules and regulations are there which impacts the selection and recruitment
process of UPS company. They are-
Equality act,2010- Company do not make differences among all employees on basis of
religion,caste,sex,gender and other disabilities etc. So hence all employees get equal chance and
opportunity to perform work in firm. UPS can also provides salary and training to all staff
members.
Equal act,1970- UPS gives equal salary to all employees who are working on same and
have similar skills with capabilities. They can discuss with workers so that all employees do not
get demotivated and feel dissatisfied (Glen, 2003).

` Disability act- UPS recruits and select disabled people. Hence it provides equal chance
to people for performing work in firm. Thus they can show their skills and dedication. As a result
firm can perform successfully and smoothly (Kydd, Anderson and Newton, 2003).

life of individuals. They have to be executed by manager. This incudes details of joining of job
and termination.
1.3 Participation in selection process
In may views I have to recruit and select educated and dedicated employees who can
perform efficiently all activities in firm. Process of selection in UPS are-
Preliminary interview: In this step I takes interview to screen applicants among all
candidates. It is a good basis of selecting educated employees in firm

name,age,qualification,skills and experience in firm. It is important for company to have

Written test: It is done so that I can check potential and capabilities of candidate. This

can select competent candidates.
Checking references: I can monitor applicant personal information from their
relatives,past firm, and friends. It is important so that deserving candidate can be selected.
Medical examination: In this step I send applicant to evaluate that applicant is suffering
from any health related problems or not. It is crucial so that I can select fit candidate in job.
Appointment letter: It is provided to applicant who is selected in firm. It includes details
such as joining date,terms and conditions,salary etc.
1.4 Own contribution to selection process
In process of selection I had monitored my potential and skills. It had maintained all
records related to candidate so that qualified and talented employees can be selected. I had given
many advertisements in television and other details of company in online sites including
Facebook etc. (Lansberg and Perrow, 1991). It is done so that people become aware and they
can easily apply to the job. After this I have scrutinised the applications which have received and

call employees for interview. I had maintained proper eye contact and evaluate their personality
so that talented and competent staff members can be selected (Lepsinger, 2010).
I have perform reference test by receiving personal information of applicant from their
friends and relatives. Then in my proper supervision I has send applicant to medical examination
so that suitable candidate can be selected. Then I provide appointment letter to competent
employees which contain details such as duration of job, salary and function of their role etc.
So in my proper supervision qualified,educated and skilful employees is selected who
can perform efficiently and effectively in firm. It leads to success and growth of firm.
2.1 Skills and features required in leadership
Various skills and attributes which are required for leadership in UPS are-
 Honesty: It is crucial for firm that leader is honest so that they can give correct direction
to all staff members. Through this staff members can perform activities honestly and in a
fair manner. It prevents company from frauds and matters which are illegal. Thus firm
can run successfully and smoothly.
 Commitment: Leaders are committed towards their work and other duties. Thus they can
be good source of inspiration to other employees. Hence staff members are also
dedicated,punctual and sincere towards their roles and functions. As a result it helps in
improving the performance of workers. Thus all activities run in smooth and effective
manner.
 Positive attitude: Leaders solves problems and conflicts in calm and cool manner. They
never think negative in any circumstances. Through this they can deal with any situation.
Through this attitude employees can also think positive and can perform efficiently and
effectively in firm. Hence task runs successfully and smoothly in firm. It leads to growth
and development of company.
 Communication: Leaders can interact with all employees and tries to solve all issues and
conflicts arising in firm. Thus it increases motivation and enthusiasm level of all
employees. Hence they can perform activities in effective manner. Hence it can increases
productivity of employees. As a result it enhances profits of firm (Mitchell and Sackney,
2007).

Physiological needs: It fulfils basic needs of workers such as water,shelter and food etc.
Safety needs: In this employees life are protected from threats and danger places etc. It
gives security to them.
Love needs: Leader behaves with friendly and fair manner so that they can be motivated
and give good results.

Esteem needs: Employees are recognized through different rewards and seminars in
which they certificates. This increases their motivation level.
Self actualization: In this step manager tries to recognize staff members their skills and
abilities (Pepper, 2002) .

Hertzberg's theory: 2 factors are used to increase the morale of employees. First is
Hygienic factors through which it fulfil basic needs. Second is motivational factors which
increase the enthusiasms level by providing high status and recognition. It gives satisfaction to
employees (Pitkala, and et. al.2015).
There are other methods also. It includes treating all equal in firm. Firm provides training
to all employees and do not make discrimination on basis of religion and other criteria. Through
this it enhances potential and energy level and thus they can give good results.

There are various advantages of working in a team. Benefits of team working in UPS are-

Creates trust: When employees are working in a team then they can share their views

with matter as they are working in group.

that they can share their views with each them. It results in creation of warm and social

Decision maker and initiative: Leaders create strategies ,plans and motivate staff
members. They only take decision. They also guide other employees and hence employees also

There is difference in perception of workers, so it is essential to guide them so there is
uniformity in actions. There are possibility that manager has to motivate workers so there are
positive results out of workings (Richards and Armstrong, 2016). United Parcel Services plans
working in such way that there will not be wastage of time and overlapping of activities. This
monitoring help in guiding employees what has to be done and in what manner. There are some
methods which help company to improve effectiveness in company (Schmidtz, 2017).
Set up process and method- There are some set of activities which has to undertaken by
manger and it is essential to form them, so there will no confusion related to working style.

better way. Top level management of company help to improve quality of goods and services.
