INTRODUCTION
Organisation working style have to concentrate on both effectiveness as well as
efficiency while performing task because it is mandatory for achieving goals within a span of
time (Alloway, Bibile and Lau, 2013). It is an responsibility of leaders that they motivate their
employees so that they can perform their functions effectively. Participation of employees within
enterprise operations is necessary due to having a responsibility of workforce for properly
working which aid in meeting goals at a given period of time. These action will help in future by
retaining employees. Assignment is based on C. & J Clark international Ltd, it is British
International shoe retailer and manufacturer. It was established in 1825 by James Clarks and
Brothers Cyrus within Street. Organisation is having a 1,000 branded franchises and stores all
over the world as well as sell their products by third party. This project involve various
documents which are important for recruiting and selecting for organisation. Their are various
styles of leadership which are discussed in this report. Higher effectiveness can achieve higher
work performance while working with people in groups also it is compulsory to measure
performance properly as well as developing needs.
TASK 1
1.1 Prepare a documentation to recruit and select a new staff members
While recruiting a staff members, main focus of organisation should be on documents
which are needed by them (Savikko and et. al., 2010). Manager of HR have to keep as well as
collect all documents of employees working in Clarks. So, while doing a recruitment, Human
resource manager tries to analyse knowledge and skills of applicants who came for job. It is very
important to know the skills of applicants as it will help in performing a work effectively. It can
be done in the following way.

The job vacancy is there in Clarks organisation which is very popular for footwear firms.
Job Vacancy : Store Manager
Role : Permanent
Report to: HR manager
Pay Salary: Up to £30,000 p.a.
Main purpose of the job: The employee will be representing Clarks store as well as have to

lead a team. They have to stimulate people to meet their goals along with that be an
impassioned follower of Clarks as well.
Main responsibilities and duties:
 Lead the employees by giving proper services which will began from good sales and
ends at providing a good experience to buyers.
 They have to track losses and profits along with that also plan the events of training
for the organisation.
 They have to maintain proper records of stores on daily basis.
PERSONAL DESCRIPTION
Applicants should have experience in a retail sector and they have made their existing
organisation earning higher profits. They should have best skills of communication and leading
so that they can motivate their employees easily. The appointed person should able to guide
teams members, provide best service to their buyers and promote brands.

1.2 Impact of ethical, regulatory and legal considerations to the process of recruitment and
selection
Their are some rules and regulations that are needed to follow by the manager of HR
while recruiting a store managers within Clarks. Some of ethical, regulatory and legal laws
should be followed by HR manager while recruitment and selection are given below: Equality Act 2010: It is established for workers so that company cannot discriminate
among each other on the basis of religion, caste, race, colour etc. Therefore, Clarks will
organise the process of recruitment and do not make any discrimination between
applicants (Arnold, Fletcher and Molyneux, 2012). Equal pay Act 1970: As per this act, it is important that workers who are working on
same level should get equal pay. Clarks should ensure that salary should be discussed
while recruiting applicants.
 Employment protection Act 1978: By this act, the main concentrate is spreading
awareness about all rules which have to follow for protecting a job within company. This
is needed to apply by workers.
1.3 Take part in the process of selection
As a HR manager trainee at Clarks, I am having duties to involve in the process of
selection that is organised by organisation for hiring a new employee for the post of store
manager (Azhar, 2011). Its my duty to see whether tasks is organised in an proper way. Steps
which are organised in the process of selection within Clarks are given below: Searching of applicants: HR manager will search a candidate who will be best for the
vacant position. As they will search lots of people who are interested for a particular job.

 Short-listing of candidates: After searching of interested candidates, then they organise a
short session in which they check the CV of each candidate and analyse with a vacant
positions as per their qualifications. Interview: After short-listing, HR organise an interview in which there is having a face to
face interaction among both. In this HR ask few questions and check the knowledge,
confidence and many more skills. Final selection: This is a last step of selection process in which they select a candidate
for a job and provide them appointment letter.
3.2 Importance of team working as a leaders and handling a conflict condition
According to the given condition in a case study, two candidates which are selected by
the HR team like as A & B. This both candidates are good equally as well as both applicants are
having capabilities and skills that is needed for performing at a job. It is very critical condition
for HR to choose a best workers for Clarks but they cant select both applicants. This will provide
rise to different kinds of disputes between tools (Bush, and Middlewood, 2013).
HR manger duty for handling a condition in an proper way as well as give best solution
of it. So, according to situation they though to use some middle method so that no disputes will
arise and company will select a worker. For this I apply these following steps:
 Firstly, HR manger go through their CV and see their qualification, experiences, skills
and abilities of both who is having more experience and qualities will be selected.
 After this, again they will organise a process of interview in which they will observe
their skills of leadership and workers handling. If they both clear interview then person
who will score higher will be selected for a particular job (Peterson, 2011).
By this method, they will easily overcome with issue and no conflicts will take place
within the process of selection.
1.4 Own contribution in the process of selection
I am Trainee human resource manager of Clarks. It is my duty to collect all the
documents which are needed at a time of hiring. After that I will post a advertisement of Store
manager in newspaper. After that I will call applicant for interview. The applicants will know
about job profile as well as needs by job description provided by advertisement. Applicants come
for interview will selected on the basis of their knowledge and skills.

As a HR manager, I will take interview of selected candidates. Hence, what skills and
abilities of the vacant job position will ask questions as per job. Choose a best applicant for a
vacant position of Store manager in Clarks. I also ensure that their should be no discrimination
among applicants come from job interview.
I ensure that their should be sufficient fund for conducting a selection process in an
effective manner so that no problem should take place at a last moment. If any disputes take
place then I will be responsible for it. Hence, it is typical to perform all functions properly and
accomplished process at a time.

2.1 Attributes and skills required for leadership
If particular person wants to be a good leaders then they should have capabilities and
abilities which aid in becoming different from others employees in Clarks. Through having skill
full leaders then organisation can meet their objectives as well as aims in an easy way. By the
leaders guidance, workers will perform their work as well as motivate them in an proper way.
Skills needed for becoming a effective leaders are discussed below: Honesty: It is important for leaders to have this attribute. Through that it will aid in
showing the right way to employees and perform their responsibility in an ethical way. It
will assist firms as they will not include any type of illegal matters (LEADERSHIP
MATTERS, 2015). Commitment: It is important for leaders to become committed towards their tasks. As it
will also help in teaching their workers the same along with this it will became a good
motivation factor for them which will assist in enhancing productivity. Positive attitude: Therefore, leaders have to face various problems in Clarks. They cant
loose hope and have to keep a positive attitude within organisation so that they can solve
problems in an proper way. This attribute will aid in dealing with problems which have
to faced by workers.
 Communication: It is very important that they should have perfect communication skills
so that they can communicate with workers in an proper way. It will aid in enhancing
productivity and profitability of Clarks.

their task in an innovative way. Hence, by this
it increase the level of productivity.
The managers are need to use different
concepts while performing their job and make
a enterprise successful.
Leaders need to follow the path from where
they can give advantages to the company as
well as meet the objectives.
The management should know all issues which
are faced by their workers.
The leaders are having duties to solve all issues
which are raised among workers within firms.
Management gain workers trust by providing
higher motivation by providing them what they
want.
Leadership is possible when having mutual
trust within each other.

doest mean that they are having skills of

There are different styles of leadership that should be applied by leaders for motivating
workers and take a proper decisions also (Morrison, 2010). In Clarks managers apply Autocratic
and democratic styles of leadership. Comparison between these both styles of leadership are
discussed below:
DEMOCRATIC AUTOCRATIC

proper authority is with leader only.

Autocratic leadership style is implemented when they have to take a decision which is
confidential then Clarks use this style of leadership and Democratic is used when they want lots
of ideas on an particular problem is discussed with all employees as well as all decisions related
to workers are discussed with them so that they can work smoothly within the company.
2.4 Motivating employees for achieving objectives
It is a compulsory to motivate employees which is performed by HR managers so that
they can perform operations in an effective way. For this purpose of Clarks uses various theories
which are given below:
Maslow's Need Hierarchy Theory
It involve five steps which is discussed in detail below: Psychological Needs – It is a basic needs of people within Clarks such as shelter , water,
hunger etc. Safety Needs – After meeting all basic needs next a employees desire became its security
at workplace, home everywhere by Clarks (Drennan, 2012).

manager should give some extra advantage which will motivate them in an positive way

 Self-actualization Needs – After meeting all above requirements, then a people want
more improvement as well as provide their all needs should completed.

If leaders of Clarks assign task within groups then it will become easy to complete their
work within a span of time (Goffee and Jones, 2013). These actions will proceed into a
profitable conditions for Clarks. Some of advantages are as follows: Increase productivity: Each particular person are having abilities and talents which are
used for completing of their work. If same people working within a group will enhance
profits for individual and Clarks as well.

 Social Active: Leaders which are friendly with their workforce will aid in completing all
operations of Clarks.

Their are different types of approaches that are used by managers so as to accomplish
task as well as also analysed workers performance by observing their performance as given
below: Learning styles of Workers: Employees are having different learning styles of each
person. Leaders plan according to their skills of learning so that they can understand their
work and can give full efficiency to organisation.

individual productivity within the Clarks. By motivating it will help in giving their best
within the company which will enhance productivity as well as profits.

are different from managers. Their are certain functions that has to accomplished by HR
managers within a limited period of time. It is an main task of every human resource managers
that he has to recruit and select a new workers for their organisation for increasing companies

juniors performance. Main responsibilities of leaders is to encourage their members so that they
