INTRODUCTION
A Project is defined as a group of tasks that are completed by either an individual or a
team to attain a specific result. In a project, different inputs and outputs are measured so that a
particular goal can be achieved. Contribution in a running project is defined as a work that is
performed by different functional departments so that project can be accomplished in a simple
and systematic manner (Bell, 2014). This assignment is based on Eastern Airways which is a
Britain based airline headquartered in Humberside Airport, England, UK. This report will cover
the introduction of new product and other important aspects such as time, scope, budget,
stakeholders and their expectations, contingency measures associated with a project.
TASK 1
Create project control documentation to involve stakeholders, scope, time table and other
documentation
Project control documentation
Project documentation is defined as the material which offers official information and
evidence about a particular topic or project. It is an act that is related with authenticating and
furnishing with documents. An effective project control documentation plan is a set of officially
written or recorded material with evidences, proof and information. It will help in tracing
projects in an systematic and timely manner (Furber and et. al., 2014). As Eastern Airways is
going to initiate a new project in which organisation will manufacture a Jet which will be an
electric vertical landing and take-off jet. With the help of this project, a unique Jet will be
designed by Easter Airlines that can be control from ground or autopiloted according to the
requirement. In this regard, a project control documentation is defined below:
Basis Description
Aims The aim of this project is to produce an unique and advanced Jet that will
outpaces existing Jets in terms of features and benefits. This Jet will be
specialised in performing vertical take off and landings.
Objectives Main objective of this project are
 Manufacturing a Jet with unique and innovative features
 Increasing the revenues of company by 20% after launching the jet.

 Increment in profitability of company by 25% in upcoming 3 year.
Purpose Purpose of this project is to design an unique and innovative Jet that is capable
to take off in vertical direction and able to transit to level flight when flaps will
move.
Scope Scope of this project is very wide. This is because aviation and air industry is
advancing day by day. Due to enhanced facilities, people prefer to use this
medium of transportation rather than road or railways. As air planes and Jets
take less time in reaching to destination, innovative feature of this product will
be able to grab the attention of customer in a desired manner.
Time According to the observation and estimation, project manager in Eastern
Airways confirms that the required time to accomplish this project will be 18
months. During this time, all the components and features of jet will be
designed, tested and modified according to the requirements (Gamalielsson and
Lundell, 2014).
Stakeholders It is a group of people or an entire organisation which is related with the
business operations of a company. Stakeholders can either impact or get
impacted by the organisational policies, actions and objectives. In case of
Eastern Airlines, potential stakeholders are government, trustees and
shareholders of company, management, employees, trade unions, equipment
manufacturers, fuel companies, financial institutions, travel agents, customers
etc.
Resources Major resources required by Eastern Airline for this project is capital,
investment, skilled workforce, materials and equipments such as structure,
propulsions, aerodynamics, fuselage etc.
Budget Estimated budget for this project is around 60000 pounds. Out of the total
amount, 40000 pounds will be managed by company itself and 20000 pounds
form other sources like investment, loans from bank and other financial
institutions.
Risks There are different types of risks that can takes place while designing a new

product i.e. a Jet. Major risk that can be faced by company is machinery failure
due to which life of passengers and airline employees can be harmed. Other
risks associated with this project can be shortage of funds, time mismanagement
and lack of skilled workforce and appropriate knowledge (Gene Ontology
Consortium, 2014).
Contingency measures for the project
Contingency measures are defined as a plan which is formulated so that unexpected
outcomes can be tackled in a desired manner. This measure is usually adopted to avoid risks that
can take place while working on a project. These plans are usually defined by government or
business organisation. In case of Eastern Airway which is working on a project of designing a
Jet, contingency measures will be adopted by project manager and project team. This will helps
in overcoming uncertainties that can hinder the project success (Kuppuswamy and Bayus, 2017).
In case of designing a new Jet, Contingency situation that can take place is stoppage of
equipments which are required in designing jet i.e. Propulsion, fuselage, shortage of capital etc.
To tackle these situation, company and project manager is required to contact with multiple
suppliers so that timely arrival of equipments will take place. Due to this, issues related with
material and equipments can be deal properly. In case of shortage of capital, business owner can
communicate with multiple investor so that shortage of funds can be overcome without
impacting project activities.
TASK 2
Carry out project by keeping stakeholders up to date
In order to accomplish project work in a desired manner, it is essential for project
manager to interact and communicate with project member, management of company and other
stakeholders in a timely manner. Updating stakeholder such as government, trustees and
shareholders of company, management, trade unions, equipment manufacturers, financial
institutions, travel agents, customers, employees, fuel companies about project on regular basis
will benefits the firm in carrying out required modifications due to which designed product will
be more effective. In order to update stakeholders about different activities and levels of project,
project manager can take help of different measures which are mentioned below:

 Regular meetings: Regular meeting among different stakeholders on timely basis will
helps them in understanding the status of project. Due to this, project activities will be
traced and carried out in an effective manner. Regular meetings will benefits the firm in
carrying out required modifications due to which capabilities of Jet will enhance (Poulter
and et. al., 2014).
 Information sharing: Information sharing through different communication media such
as internet, social media, E-mails, SMS, meetings, seminars etc. will benefits the
company in updating their stakeholders in a desired manner. Due to these methods all the
information will be passed on to every individual which is related with project. Due to
which satisfaction level of different stakeholders will also enhance.
Keep project control documentation up to date
In order to keep project control documentation up to date, timely revision of activities
and strategies on regular basis is required. Along with this, continuous monitoring and checking
of different aspects such as resources and budget is required. With the help of this, it can be
acknowledged that whether project will be completed in specific resources or budget. In case,
external help is required, help from other suppliers and financial institutions can be taken.
Purpose, scope and objectives of project needs to be modified and updated on regular basis so
that uncertainties and errors can be corrected with the help of corrective measures (Smith, and
Dodds, 2017).
Report any unexpected event and take appropriate corrective actions
In case of designing a jet, unexpected event that take place is machine failure. It is a
common problem that can be faced in air-planes and Jet but this issue is very severe which can
create a threat to human life. In accordance with repair costs, delivery of passengers and goods,
total downtime, this machinery failure can became more severe. Some parts were partially
malfunctions that are easy to rectify and result will be minimal in this case. Reason for
machinery failure was improper operations that were carried out by operations due to the lack of
proper training and basic troubleshooting. Other reasons for that event was failure in performing
preventive measures along with failed approach in monitoring equipments.
Appropriate corrective actions in this regard are mentioned below:
 Never allow operators to use those machinery or Jet they are not eligible, qualified and
trained to run. This will helps in reducing operational errors.

 Company is required to follow preventive maintenance as it will decreases breakdowns
up to 35% to 45% and reductions in downtime up to 75%
TASK 3
Evaluate the success of project in relation with purpose, aims, objectives and other aspect
Project initiated by Eastern Airlines is a great success. This is because the concept choose
by company was innovative and unique. Aim and objective of the project was very clear due to
which project manager was able to formulate different kinds of strategies in an organised and
efficient manner. Project member and other employees were acknowledged with the purpose of
project in detail due to which all the work was performed and accomplished in timely manner.
Resources were properly managed and timely ordered and finances were maintained with the
help of appropriate budget.
Measures to improve project performance
There are different measures that can be adopted by concerned company so that project
performance can be improved. Some of these are stated below:
 Standardised project planning form starting along with project templates and planning
tools will benefits in enhancing engagement of project members.
 Dividing time in accordance will tasks and priority will helps in enhancing working
potential and performance of employees (Vehmas and Lahti, 2015).
 Appropriate risk management measures will benefits in tackling complex situations with
ease due to which project performance will enhance.
CONCLUSION
From above mentioned report, it is concluded that to run a project in an appropriate
manner, effective plan and strategies are required. Different aspects related with project such as
aims, objectives, purpose, scope, budget, resource etc. will helps in acknowledging minute
details of project in a desired manner. There are different way by which stakeholders can be
informed about project details on regular basis. This will helps in eliminating and modifying
errors in a timely manner.
