company named Talk Talk Telecom Group plc. The main theme of discussion of this report is
the safety regarding the use of an information system and the process of decision making
with the help of information system. An information system in the collection of the entire

the organization, the process of decision making in the company and with the help of the
information system. The report finally discusses about the working and the skills of an

1. Introduction
This report is based on the analysis of the working of an information system manager
in the organization Talk Talk Telecom Group plc. There is the discussion about the
implementation of an information system in the organization as well.
2. Background
2.1 Brief Background Of Talk Talk Plc
Talk Talk Telecom Group plc is a company providing pay per view television
connectivity and internet access along with the facility of mobile network for consumers and
business in the United Kingdom. The company was established in 2003 as a subsidiary and
later in the year 2010, it became a standalone company. The company has its headquarters in
London. The company works for the provision of telecommunication lines to the residents of
United Kingdom. This requires the use of a lot of technology (Cauwels and Sornette 2015).
The technology is used for the controlling and the keeping the connection of the lines intact
throughout the day.
2.2 Background With Respect To Deployment of Information Systems and Databases
As there are many users the data of each of the user’s needs to be stored in the
database along with the data that will be used for the identification of the users by the
company (Cauwels and Sornette 2015). Along with this, there is an inclusion of an
information system for the management of the large amount of database that is to be used by
the company (Ceross and Simpson 2017). This report is for the analysis and the findings that
is to be related to the working of an information system and certain recommendation to
follow for the information system manager of the company.

3. Specific Analysis of TalkTalk Telecom Group plc
3.1 Analysis of deployment of databases
For the setting up of the data base which is to store all the details of the users of their
company as well as the details of the employees. Apart from this, other details are needed to
be stored for future reference and current working of the company (Al-Mamary, Shamsuddin
and Abdul Hamid 2013). All these data is essential to the company and require periodic
management and backup to keep the data under check. There a number of challenges
associated with the deployment of a database. Most of the development teams are given
insufficient amount of information for the development of the database. The management of
the company should look into the matter to make it clear to the development team the
complete requirement of the database so that the best quality of work can be delivered
(Audibert and Murray 2016). All the data is to be stored into the system should be shared
with the team to make it clear of the working of the database and the extent to which it is to

be used by the company. After the database has been completely set up the team needs to
work on the database to keep the data that is being transferred from being ruined over time
and lost when the database breaks down. A database for the Talk Talk Telecom Group plc
needs to be large enough to handle all the large amount of information that is being collected
by the organization on a daily basis (Ceross and Simpson 2017). Such a large amount of data
should be handled with the help of an information system. An information system would be
able to help the organization to cope up with the large amount of data and keep a healthy
track of the quality of data. This needs to be followed because of the large amount of data
that the organization needs to handle.

3.2 Analysis of decision-making and the impact of Information Systems on the decision-
making processes
For the organization, there needs to be a procedural decision making process for the
proper management of the organization. Decision making process is an integral procedure for
any organization. For the proper management of an organization there needs to be the use of
decision making processes (Esteves, Ramalho and De Haro 2017). Most of the times the
organizational members are left to make the decisions for the company at a fast pace without
the involvement of prior knowledge about the situation. With the help of the information
system in the organization, the managers would be able to make the decision easily. Studying
the database during the making of the decision would help in making the decision better
(Willcocks 2013). The outcomes of the study of the data base helps in the understanding of
the flow of work in the organization. This would help in making better decision for the
company. As the company has a collection of a large number of client, the assessment of the
decisions should be taken with care rather than in haste.

3.3 Benefits of Information Systems in decision-making
The benefits for the use of an information system management in the form of decision
making process is the advantage of having better communication among all the managers of
the company. This would help in understanding of the position the organization is currently
in. It has always been seen that better communication helps in better understanding of the
work of an organization (Galliers and Leidner 2014). Management of an organization is
based on the amount of information you have. Having more information would help in the
proper management of the company. This is the same for the company chosen for this report.
When the managers are able to see the amount of users and the client they have they would
be able to help the company in making better decision for the betterment of the company.
Having a complete collection of data and records in the company would help in
understanding the flow of process inside the organization (Laudon and Laudon 2015.
Keeping in mind all the work that is being done in the company the best use of the
information system would be for the development of better decisions for the company.
3.4 Risk of Information Systems in decision-making
The risks associated with the use of information system in the process of decision
making would be the problem of the information falling into the wrong hands. If one of the
manager is trying to share the information gathered from the information system then the
company may fall in the risk of losing valuable information as well as clients. The client if
gets to know about the leaking of the information outside the organization then they would be
able to contest a legal case against the company stating their right for the safety of their
personal information (Laudon and Laudon 2016). Another risk associated with the use of
decision making with the help of information system can be said to be the understanding of
the individual managers based on the information that is available to them. The contradiction
in the understanding of the information would hamper in the making of the decision making

during the meeting hours. With the help of the information system manager, the organization
would be able to track the access of the database and thus find the person that had accessed
the amount of data at the correct time. This can be achieved with the making of the
hierarchical development of the access of the data for the organization (Lidbetter 2016). A
person of a higher hierarchy would be able to access all the data and the person at a lower
level would be provided with a limited connectivity.
4. Explanation of the role of the Information Systems Management
4.1 Role of the Information Systems Manager
An information system manager should have the following key skills, which would
help him to manage the database of the company as well as the working inside the company:
 To have problem solving and analytical skills.
 To have strong technical skills.
 To keep calm even under pressure.
 To keep a keen eye for the small details.
 To have good teamwork skills (Valacich and Schneider 2015).
 To have proper time management skills.
 To have proper leadership skills and communication skills.
These skills are important for an information system manager to have to work
properly at an organization with such a high list of clients and information to handle. The
data that is coming into the system is large. It can be easily compared to a big data server
with respect to the company (Peppard and Ward 2016). Management of all these data needs
to be compiled into a good database so that the data can be easily viewed and analyzed by the
organization. The managers require the information to make the decisions for the company.

Decisions for the company is important to be made as these govern the working of the
organization. If one wrong decision is taken, it can hamper all kinds of working of the

The major roles, which the information system manager has to look after, can be
listed as follows:
 To provide proper evaluation of the needs of the organization along with the
accessibility of the data to the users of the database.
 Planning for the development of the information system security as well as the
mainframe structure of the database (Sgambato et al. 2015).
 To schedule timely updates for the system and provide security backups to the
information being stored into the system.
 To ensure that the users use the proper amount of connectivity credentials as per
their status in the organization.
 To look after the security based on the internal and external attacks.

 To mentor and train new employees who will be working under him or her for the
management of the information system.
 To keep the database being used up to date with the use of the latest technologies.

The above set of details can be said to be the job description of an information system

these working rules to make the best work for the organization (Roberts and Dörrenbächer
2016). Based on the above positive points an information system manager needs to be
appointed by the Talk Talk Telecom Group plc. This needs to be followed because of the
large amount of data that the organization needs to handle. The client list of the organization
increases day by day. For the proper management of the data being collected from the client
the need for an information system is the best suited option for the company (Romero
Moreno 2014). In order to manage the working of the information system and the security
concern of the work that the organization is doing there needs to be a capable information
system. This is the major priority of the organization.

From the above report, it can be concluded that the organization chosen for the
company, Talk Talk Telecom Group plc has the use of an information system for the storing
of the data and all the information related to the company should be able to view their data at
a single place and with better visuals. The assessment of the information would help in the
decision making procedure of the management at a much faster pace. The use of an
information system would thus help in the management of the information and the
management of the employees in the company. The company should also take into concern
the working of the information system manager in the organization as the company is seen to

handle a lot of information. For the proper hiring of an information system manager there
needs to be a follow up of the skills and responsibilities of the person being hired. If a wrong

6. Recommendations
For a recommendation for the company, it would help them in the better
understanding of the working procedure of the company with the help of an information
system. The information system manager is an important place for an individual, which
would help in the controlling of the databases in the company. The handling of the database
is of high responsibility. Proper management and analysis of the information system would
also help in the management of the decision making process by the managers. There should
be an improvement in the hiring of the information system manager as well as the provision
for the connectivity to the information system. The accessibility to the database should be
considered with the help of access id as well as time stamp for the use of the database.
