EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Talent Management introduces as handling the ability, power and competency of workers
in company. Main intent of this report is to analyse consequence of talent management on
business performance of Hilton Hotel. It is a chosen organisation which belongs in hospitality
industry. In order to achieve this objective, different activities have been taken by investigator.
Review of literature is important activity which has been completed by identifying view point of
authors about the talent management. Research methodology is another important part of
investigation which has been completed by following various methods and approaches. Data
collection will be completed by using primary source i.e. questionnaire. Data analysis is another
part of investigation which has been completed by researcher by using thematic analysis. It is an
effective type of analytical technique. Conclusion and recommendation introduces as a last
chapter of study which have been completed by accomplishing each objectives of investigation
systematically.

Chapter 1: Introduction
1.0 Introduction
Talent management introduces as an effective and systematic process of analysing the
vacant position, recruiting the right person, creating the expertise and skills of individual to
match the position and retaining them to accomplish long term business objectives. Therefore, it
is an useful process of thinking, pulling, recruiting, developing, retaining as well as transitioning
of employees to attain organisational vision. For this research project Hilton Hotels & Resorts is
chosen hospitality industry. It is an international brand of full-service hotel and resorts. It was
founded in 1919 by Conrad Hilton and headquartered in McLean, Virginia, United State. Main
purpose of conducting this research project is to identify the positive and negative impact of
talent management on both organisational as well as employee’s performance (Noe, Hollenbeck,
Gerhart and Wright, 2017).
This report based on different tasks which includes, research aim and objectives,
literature review, research methodology, data analysis and interpretation, recommendation and so
on. These are important activities which will be beneficial for researcher while completion of
research in systematic manner.
1.1 Background of the study:
This investigation is based on the talent management. It is the effective process of
finding, creating, training and keeping workers whose skills and knowledge best align with the
objectives and vision of an organisation (Moayedi and Vaseghi, 2016). Main objective of talent
management is to recruit the right workers the organisation can afford so that an enterprise
reaches its more potential for success and growth. Talent management played a positive role in
improving business performance of Hilton Hotels & Resorts. Maintaining individual identity,
recognition and reward, providing opportunities, job rotation, role design, flexibility, succession
planning, relationship management, training and development are main initiatives of talent
management in context of Hilton Hotels & Resorts. Apart from this, talent management also
have different drawbacks that will negatively influence on business performance. Along with this

talent management will be a greatest challenge for human resource within hospitality industry
(Collings, Scullion and Vaiman, 2015). It includes: unappealing company culture, increased
employee turnover, tightening talent market, higher total compensation demands, lack of
leadership etc. These are biggest challenges faced by human resource management within Hilton
Hotel. As it will negatively effects on business growth and success of an enterprise. In order to
overcome these challenges, adoption of flat communication, proper selection and recruitment of
right person, proper implementation of training and development program, development of
effective leadership style. These are useful and effective ways which will support an organisation
in improvement of its business success and growth.
1.2 Rationale/justification of research:
Main purpose about choosing this topic is to analyse role of talent management within
hospitality industry or Hilton hotel. This research will be more beneficial in both academic and
personal way. In personal context, this research or topic support researcher individually by
improving its different types of research skills i.e. literature review, data analysis knowledge,
data interpretation quality and so on. Thus, these are most useful skills for researcher and help
them while completion of investigation systematically (Silv and et. al., 2017).
Along with this, current study is also useful for students by increasing their knowledge
regarding the talent management and its impact on business performance of Hilton Hotel. One of
the main purpose of selecting this hotel as it is a global brand which will be beneficial for society
by providing job opportunities to unemployed people (Khilji, Tarique and Schuler, 2015).
1.3 Research aim:
Main purpose of this study is “To identify the impact of talent management on business
performance of an organisation”. A study on Hilton Hotels & Resorts.
1.4 Research Objectives
To develop basic understanding regarding the talent management.
To analyse role of talent management in enhancing business performance of Hilton
Hotels & Resorts.
To ascertain challenges faced by company while implementation of Talent management
within hospitality industry.

1.6 Summary of the research project
There are different activities require to be complete this project in systematic and
effective manner. There are some chapters which will be explained as below:
Chapter 1: Introduction: In this chapter, research aim, objectives, background and
rationale of study will be followed. As it is a part of research proposal which helps reader by
providing accurate information about the research aim and objectives.
Chapter 2: Literature review: In this part of research, secondary sources will be applied
for identifying in-depth and detailed information about the study. Point of view of different
authors will be analysed under this section.
Chapter 3: Research methodology: It is important section of research because it helps
researcher by providing information about different methods and approaches that are suitable for
current investigation (Valerio and et. al., 2016).
Chapter 4: Data analyses/findings/discussion: Thematic analysing will be going to used
for analysing, finding or discussing information about the topic in systematic manner.
Chapter 5: Conclusion: In this part of project, summary and result of entire section of
research will be archived in effective manner.
Chapter 6: Recommendation: In this section, some recommendations will be develop as
per the findings or discussion.
Chapter 7: References: Under this section appropriate and relevant references will be
created for making strong evidence to the information which is presented within the report.
Chapter 8: Appendix : In this part of research frequency table will be developed.

Chapter 2: Literature Review
Literature review explained as comprehensive summary of the previous investigation on
topic. It is explicit, systematic and reproducible methods for determining, examining and also
synthesizing existing knowledge of body that produced through practitioners and investigators. It
is comprehensive study as well as interpretation of literature that need to address on particular
area. This part of research provides theoretical base for an investigation that helps in identify
nature of an investigation. This section of article is summary of all investigation author read
before own research. It is excellent way to be summarise information and data that has been
published on particular area (Mohammed, 2016). For conducting literature review, secondary
method of data collection has been used by consisting different sources such as articles, journals,
magazines and internet sources. This literature review explains about role of talent management
in enhancement of business performance within hospitality industry.
Knowledge regarding the talent management.
According to the Brianna Whiting, 2019, talent management introduces as the process of
analysing, developing, training, keeping and retaining workers to achieve objectives of an
organisation. It is the full range of human resource process to pull, motivate and keep high-
performing workers.
The full range of human resource processes: Talent management refers as a set of
human resource process or activity that are integrated together. It means, activities of talent
management are bigger than the total of individual parts. Further it means as strategy of talent
management is needed to capitalize on its full potential.
Attract, create, encourage and retain employees: One of the main intention of talent
management process is to pull, create, prompt and keep employees for long time. As it will be
beneficial and important for the development and success of enterprise.
High-performing employees: It is a main purpose or motive of talent management is to
enhance employee's performance. It aimed at engaging, motivation and retaining workers to
perform effectively and accomplish long term goals of business (Pantouvakis and Karakasnaki,
2017).
Along with this, talent management have different advantages to employees as well as an
organisation also. Benefits of talent management for organisation are: achievement of vision,
keeping finest talent, win over challenger, builds up company's reputation, improved decision
