Background to the study
High staff turnover is mainly associated with and represents the number of workers who
has left out the organisation or their jobs. The issues of high staff turnover in many cases
represents that these left out places are not quickly replaced by new employees and are mainly
the result of having a poor hiring policies and decisions along with a bad and ineffective
management. Thus, the issues of high turonover are mainly reflected with an imbalance in supply
and demand of employees which hampers and negatively affects the productivity and efficiency
level of employees. There are many reasons and factors which lead to issues of high staff
turnover comprises of lack of equal growth and progression, feeling of being overworked, lack of
effective communication and workplace recognition along with poor and ineffective workplace
management. Therefore, current investigation is conducted and lead out to develop a better
understanding about the cause of higher employee turnover in the hospitality industry along with
analysing its overall impact on the management prcatises.
The organisation selected for current research project is Hilton Hotel which is a well
known American multinational hospitality company having a broad portfolio of resorts and
hotels across the world. The main headquarter of Hilton Hotel is located at Virginia, United
States along with presence in more than 103 countries of world comprising of UK, China, India
and many more. Currently , More than 420,000 Team Members and workers are globally work
across in the corporate offices of Hilton along with in their owned, managed and franchised
properties. Therefore, a huge workforces and effective management of employees is required by
Hilton Hotel to retain its talented employees for a longer period. Thus, Hilton Hotel is selected
for current investigation as it is a multinational organisation with a huge workforce thus,
provides a better base to analysis about the issues and cause of higher employee turnover in the
hospitality industry along with its analysis its impact in the overall management prcatises of a
firm.
