INTRODUCTION
The concept of employee relation is referred as the effective relationship among
organisation and its employees. Basically, employee relation is the efforts of business to create as
well as maintain effective relation with organisational employees. positive employee relation
helps organisation to enhance employee engagement and loyalty for long period. Organisation
provides training and development as well as motivation for the purpose of increasing employee
morale and performance. In this report the chosen organisation is Sainsbury which is one of the
largest supermarkets in United Kingdom. The organisation is founded in the year of 1869 by
John James Sainsbury and headquarter situated in London, England, UK. It has 1,428 shops in
various locations. In this report significance of employee relationship, various employee
legislations are discussed. Apert form that different rights and duties of organisational employer
and employees are mentioned. Analysis of stakeholders and their positive and negative impact on
employee relation is being covered.

Employee relationship: The concept of employee relation is termed as procedure which creates
relationship with organisational employees. There are various strategies and planning is
developed by the organisation that enhance employee morale, motivation and retain them with
organisation for long period. Sainsbury maintains human resource management department that
resolve all employee problems and conflicts to enhance employee engagement as well as
maintain effective employee relation. Well-motivated employees contribute in organisational
success and attain higher work performance objective as well. Sainsbury focus on employee
issues and resolve them properly in order to enhance employee performance (Bui, Zeng, and
Higgs, 2017). The human resource management department formulates various strategies that
provides various benefits to employees and creates positive working environment as well as
working life balance to retain them with organisation for long period of time.
Importance of employee relationship to Sainsbury:
Positive relationship between employer and employee facilitates Sainsbury to accomplish
defined goals and objectives and enhance employee productivity, performance and retain than
with organisation for long period of time. Sainsbury emphasis on developing effective relation

with customers and provide them training for generating career opportunities. Importance of
employee relation are mentioned below:
Enhance employee retention: Sainsbury organisation maintains effective employee
relation that facilitates encourage employees to attain high work performance objective and
enhance employee loyalty and motivates them to retain with organisation that contribute in
growth and development of business. If organisation do not maintain effective than employees
leave organisation that enhance the overall cost of business to recruit employees and provide
them training to perform task efficiently. Better employee relation enhances the feeling of
satisfaction and comfortableness that provides various competitive advantages than competitors.
Reducing conflicts: At workplace various problems and conflict are raised that affect the
working performance and productivity of employees that ultimately impacts on organisational
goal and objectives. Management department of Sainsbury resolve these conflicts to ensure
effective running of organisation (Gao and He, 2017). Effective employee relation facilitates the
respective organisation to enhance employee performance through resolving their problems
effectively.
Increase employee loyalty and motivation: Sainsbury creates positive working
environment at work place that enhance employee work performance and loyalty towards
organisation and keep them engaged with organisation for long period. Sainsbury treat
employees as a valuable asset that help the organisation to attain defined objectives and ensure
growth and development. Employee loyalty help respective organisation to accomplish pre-
defined goal in effective and efficient manner.
Facilitates growth and development: Effective relationship of employees facilitates the
organisation to attain the objective of growth and development to gain various competitive
advantages than competitors in current business environment (Gkorezis and Kastritsi, 2017).
There are proper various training is provided by Sainsbury to employees that help to attain them
career opportunities and enhance their work performance that directly impacts on organisational
growth.
Employment legislations: There are number of employment laws as well as legislations
are developed by government and local authorities that provides various power to employees and
facilitate the organisation to support functioning in order to attain all goals and objectives
efficiently. These laws and legislations must be followed by the Sainsbury to run business
