INTRODUCTION
Personal development plan refers to the activities which assist in improving self-
knowledge and identity along with developing talents as well as potential (Alsop, 2013).
Moreover, it improves the quality of life along with the contribution to realization of aspirations.
It is important as well as essential for the employees to work with personal and professional
skills so that they can attain success in their job profiles. Professional development can provide
the best knowledge to employees so that they can develop their career along with improving
performance. The present report is based on Marriott Hotel which is a hospitality company that
manages and franchises a brand portfolio of hotels and related lodging facilities (Personal &
Professional Development, 2017). In the assignment, discussion upon the different approaches of
self management learning and the different ways in which they can do lifelong learning for the
personal and professional development so that they encouraged.
TASK 1
1.1
Self-managed learning is an approach which assists in learning by using the proper
management process. It is way in which individual person can manage their own learning. Self-
management technique is helpful for the employees of Marriott Hotel in improving the
competency level by which they can attain maximum growth. Staff members have to take
initiatives in doing the work which succour in improving learning as well as knowledge and by
that, they can share correct information. The employees have to attend the seminars which help
in learning the new things (Apple, 2011).
There are different learning styles which can be used by the staff members of Marriott
Hotel like Kolb's as well as Honey and Mumford. Along with this, Marriott has to use Kolb's

learning style which will help in attaining the goals and objectives which are decided by higher
authorities of business entity. This style is divided into four parts which includes:-
Concrete experience – It helps in gaining new experience in the different situation
which includes the reinterpretation of the experience which exists.
Reflective observation – In this stage, it involves the thinking that is what we have done
and by that they can gain the better experience (Personal & Professional Development,
2017).
Active experimentation – In this stage, it helps in taking the test which is hypotheses so
that they adopt.
Abstract conceptualisation – In this, employees of Marriott Hotel have to implement an
idea so that they can find the best results.

Employees of Marriott Hotel have to think and get new as well as innovative ideas along
with the opinions which assist in identifying that where the staff members needs training which
aid in doing the proper development and improvement (Batesand et. al., 2014). According to the
same, employees as well as company can improve the performance in competitive market. The
employees of Marriott Hotel have to maintain the relationship and for that, they have to use new
structure which helps in the personal growth. There are so many methods which can be used by
the employees of Marriott hotel for lifelong learning that would assist in encouraging them to
perform work effectually. It includes:-
When the employees acquired the correct information then they can use self direct
learning and by that they can get motivated and do the the best work.
To manage as well as to learn new things, they have to use proper and appropriate
techniques.
Employees of Marriott Hotel have to develop or improve the personal knowledge so that
they can provide innovative merchandise along with the services to consumers
(Continuing Personal and Professional Development (CPPD), 2017).
For self-learning, apprenticeship is an essential element. Along with this, manager of
Marriott Hotel has to conduct training sessions so that they can attain the success.
