INTRODUCTIONHuman resource management is most valuable and important function of an organisation.This function is basically related to hiring, compensation, performance, safety, wellness,benefits, motivation and training. Additionally, it is a predetermined approach to manage peopleand work culture in an effective way that help in achieving company's goals and objectives(Foster, 2014 ). In this report, the organisation chosen is Mark & Spencer, a British multinationalretailer headquarter in London. This report is going to analyse the purpose and function ofhuman resource management that are applicable in workforce planning and resourcing andorganisation. Moreover, analysing strengths and weakness of different approaches inrecruitment and selection process as well as benefit of different human resource practices withinorganisation for both employer and employees. Furthermore, analysing importance of employeesrelation and key elements of employees legislation and its impact on decision-making process.Hence, application of human resource practises in work related context by using specificexamples. Purpose and function of HRM applicable to workforce planning and resourcing organisationHuman resource management is an essential part of an organisation. It includes functionand purpose that help an organisation in performing their task and activities in an effectivemanner. Purpose of human resource management: The purpose of human resourcemanagement is to provide development to employee's work related to their knowledge skills andexperience in their roles and responsibilities (Pattanayak, 2018). It basically help employees andemployer to work together in order to improve efficiency in performance and meet uporganisation goals and objectives in stipulated time period. Following are the purposes of HRfunction:Internal employee's engagement: In an organisation, human resource management workto increase productivity of employees as well as improve their working criteria. Eventually,managers of Mark & Spencer need to implement appropriate plans and policies for theiremployees and staff members in order to bring improvement in performing task.Cultural sensitivity: In an organisation, it is duty of human resource management tomaintain cultural sensitivity in workplace. Itsmain function are applied in hiring, recruiting, selecting, acquiring, developing, providingtraining and development session as well as compensation to employees.Recruiting and selection:Recruiting and selection is one of the essential function ofhuman resource management in every organisation. It help managers of Marks & Spencer inscreening and selecting right candidate for right job description at right time. Thus, it will helpmanagers in attaining their goals and objectives in an accurate manner.Managing employee's relation: In an organisation, employees are pillar of success. Thisis one of the essential task for mangers of Mark & Spencer to maintain employees relation in anappropriate manner in order to reduce conflicts and misunderstanding among employees andemployer.Roles and responsibilities of human resource management: In today's context, humanresource managers plays an important role in an organisation (Bratton and Gold, 2017). It helpto build and execute strategics and planning, administration as well as managing people withinorganisation.
