INTRODUCTIONHuman resources management consider the overall activities which are performed bymanagement in order to manage the action as well as performance of employees withinorganisation. For this report the chosen company is Mark and Spencer which is a leading Britishmultinational retailer. Its headquarters is in London, UK. The purpose of this report is to explainthe purpose, roles and responsibilities of HR function. Approaches to workforce planning,recruitment, selection, training and development etc. Effectiveness of employee relation as wellas engagement and key aspects of employment legislation. Evaluation of employee relation andemployment legislation in decision making and meet the objectives of business. Preparation ofjob specification and description. Along with this use of technology, online resources, digitalplatforms and social networking in improving the process of recruitment and selection are alsomentioned in this report.TASK 11. The purpose of the HR function and the key roles and responsibilities of the HR functionAn effective human resource function can boost the performance of employees andaccomplish the objective of company. The main purpose of HR function is to assist firm fordelivering their strategy and goals by effectually managing performance as well as people. Key roles and responsibilities:HRM generally concern about the management of resources as well as people withinorganisation. The functions of HR included managing, forming, executing and supervisingregulations that are compulsory for all employees (Cox, Arnold and Tomás, 2013). All this assistin hiring appropriate candidates for the job that assure effectual implementation of overallactivities of business. All this aids in facilitating satisfaction to workers that develop wholeproductivity of company. The HR Manager of Marks and Spencer is accountable to managemany activities as well as functions at workplace so that morale of their can be increased such astraining and development programs, recruitment and selection, rewards and compensation etc.For example, HR manager have to hire proficient candidates so that their organisationalobjectives can be attained. After which, training sessions has been conducted for staff whichenhances their skills and capabilities to perform allotted work more effectively.
