regulations and legislations has been illustrated for the cited firm to enhance the effectiveness of
application of safety policy and procedures.

Smart Hiring Ltd is recruitment firm that possess different officials from varied fields in

organisational structure that is led by Managing director along with the potential support of
assistant director and various departmental superiors. However, all these highest level authorities
are responsible to make sure that the departments under them perform defined tasks and

In addition to this, policies related to slip, trip and fall is applied which emphasis on
assuring the floors are not slippery as well as proper railing attached with the stairs along with
this proper sign boards are stick at the danger areas so that people can remain away from such

management needs to insure him/her by doing so, company ensures that if any casualty take

working environment it is important for the top level management to make sure that they strictly
abide the set of rules and regulations for the safety purpose.
4.3 Systematic review of health and safety policies and procedures of Smart Hiring Ltd
According to British Law, UK there are several rules and regulations related to health and
safety are framed to ensure the execution of ethical and safe working environment within the
business workplace. Some of them are as follows:
 Discrimination is one of the most common issues that an individual faces at the
workplace. In this regard, it becomes important for the senior managers of Smart Hiring
Ltd to make sure that they treat each and every individual equally as well as provide them
equal growth opportunities so that they can remain loyal towards the functioning of the
company (Neill, 2013).
 Proper equipment and technical gadgets need to be set at different areas of office
premises such as fire extinguisher so that risk of fire can be managed and controlled
adequately. In this regard, fire risks assessment should be carried out by the management
of Smart Hiring Ltd so that employees can be given better environment work in.
 One of the most common health related hazard is smoking. Therefore, several posters
should be pasted at different walls of Smart Hiring Ltd premise which clearly showcase
the slogan of “Smoking is prohibited” (Syed and et.al, 2012). By doing so management
will be able to ensure health environment within the firm as well as create awareness
amongst the employees not carry out such activity and stop others to do so.

4.4 How to carry out the practical application of health and safety policies and procedures
In regard to carry out the practical application of health and safety policies it is important
for the senior authority of Smart Hiring Ltd to undertake various HSE policies which are as
follows:
 Health and safety regulations 1992 display screen equipment’s: This policy play
significant role in Recruitment Company like Smart Hiring Ltd because employees are
constantly using computers in regards to gather wide range of information for developing
appropriate database of jobs, vacancies and the data of job seekers (General safety
measures, 2012). By the means of this, employees easily match the right job opportunity
for right candidate. Therefore, top level management of Smart Hiring Ltd needs to focus
on this policy in order to make sure that employees are physically and mentally well to
carry out the work.
 Mandatory insurance policy, employer’s liability act 1969: The main purpose of this
policy is to provide guidelines regarding the importance of insurance for the workers. As
per the British Law, it is the responsibility of Managing Director of Smart Hiring Ltd to
undertake the policy and insure each and every individual employees (Yagci, 2011). In
this scheme of medical and life insurance can be offered to the employees so that they
can start protecting them from financial burden in case of any misfortune.

In conclusion to the above report it has been articulated that operations of business
consist of series of activities that needs to be managed and controlled in appropriate manner for
generating better outcomes. Managing business activities is an essential prospects because it
helps in mitigating the variances within the functioning as well as reduce the effects of risks and
uncertainties associated with the operations. However, having suitable framework of firm’s
activities leads control the activities in more effectual manner. Thus, improving the internal
process, top level management of Smart Hiring Ltd has been recommended to adopt quality
culture as well as undertake TQM so that monitoring of activities can be done effectively. In
addition to this, different health and safety related policies and framework are illustrated to
provide guidelines to the senior authority of Smart Hiring Ltd for ensuring better working
environment for the employees as well as the people associated to the business.
