INTRODUCTION
Leadership and management plays a very important role in the organisational system. It is
essential to lead the employees in effective and efficient manner. Leaders are most important
component that directs the actions of every worker in proper direction and path. The company
included is Accor hotels that is a well established multinational hotel operating in more than 90
countries.

Leadership and management are very important components that are executed in the
organisational system. In order to run company in effective and efficient mode, it is necessary to
introduce these concepts properly (Easterby-Smith, Thorpe, and Jackson, 2012). Leadership
refers to the ability of any individual to influence the behaviour of workers towards attainment of
set goals and objectives. Every manager should develop leadership skills in order to carry out
process in proper mode. On the other side management is a concept of administrating the whole
system of company to ensure that work is carried out in conducive way. This responsibility lies
in the hand of top level of management.
Accor hotel industry have proper system of administration that guides its employees so
that organisation can able to achieve competitive advantage. It is responsibility of management
level to show right style of working so that mission and vision can be earned.
Q2. Two different definitions of Leadership
Leadership is the process of leading and directing the staff members of the Accor
hospitality sector towards the final purpose. Not all individual possess this characteristics of
influential behaviour. Every single member follows instructions of their leaders. Hence, effective
leadership style should be introduced. Basically, managers also play the role of leader that
instructs his team to reach final goals in set time period. There are certain policies, plans that has
to be followed by each and every member working in the organisational system. Therefore, it is
the individual that contains qualities of leaders (Laudon, and Laudon, 2015).
Leadership is the art of directing their followers to the right path in the organisational
system. Accor have several mangers of different departments that make their team work in

accordance to set rules and regulations. They always promote the sense of unity and synergy in
their team structure so that they can able to work together to achieve company's last mission and
vision. It is the duty of leaders to make the strategy clear in their minds so that they work
accordingly in their working life (American Gastroenterological Association, 2011). As business
have to operate in dynamic nature hence, they have to run accordingly in order to be in pace with
the changes. A very good example leader of current scenario is J. Willard Marriott who was the
founder of Marriott hotel chains which is run in many parts of the country all over nation. He
has number of qualities that has made succeeded in his career life. In Today's world Marriott has
high class image among people and that is because of owner who leads his company very well
towards right path. There are several other instances that have set good example in leadership
style and has motivated others to conduct work process.
Q3. Role Of a manager
Manager plays a prominent role in the organisation system. They have so many
responsibilities that they carry and is followed by them. Managers of Accor hotels have diverse
roles which are discussed below: Liaison role of manager: In this type of function, manager have to establish effective
communication, motivation system into the system so that employees can work properly
and rightly. They unified the efforts of every individual towards single goal. Monitoring role of manager: This role is very important that has to be played every
manager into business institution. In this, superior examine various factors that affect the
organisation and consider while making decision making process (Duffy, 2013). Resource allotment role of manager: It is the responsibility of manager to handle
various type of resources that are present in the system. Manager of Accor hotels have to
combine all the resources effective and efficiently so that no risks can be raised in future.
 Entrepreneurial role of manager: In this role, managers have to be innovative and
creative in their Working style so that they can perform task smoothly and efficiently.
They continuously concentrate on accepting new and dynamic changes that are
happening inside or outside the working environment.

Q4. Different Management Styles
Management styles refers to the manner in which different administration level functions
there are several approaches that are carried out in the organisational system. There are basically,
three level of management working in any single organisational system namely, top level,
medium and lower level. Some are discussed below: Autocratic style: Under this type of management style all power lie in the hand of head
member and there is no role of subordinates in the process. Autocratic leaders is further
divided into two parts namely directive and permissive. Consultative style: It is also known as dictatorial style of management, in which there is
no healthy relationship between employee and employer. But there is added advantage
which is included under this style that is less labour turnover, increase in loyalty among
every individual (Weske, 2012). Persuasive style: It is somewhat similar to autocratic mode. The difference is that this
type of managers influence their members to achieve the task and make them work
decorously. Democratic style: under this type of management style, superior and subordinates work
together in decision making process. Employees of higher skills and knowledge
contribute majorly in sharing their views and thoughts. Chaotic style of management: This is a modern approach in which manager render full
control to their subordinates in decision making procedure. It is mainly formulated in
innovative and modern company institution (Hoornweg, and Bhada-Tata, 2012).
 Laissez- faire management style: It is basically one of the most important style of
management in which superior encourage their team members in positive mode. They
motivate them to share their innovative ideas and thoughts that can be helpful to achieve
final vision and mission in particular time period.
Accor hotel adopted laissez faire style of management in which they give equal chance or
opportunity to contribute their ideas or techniques that aids in reaching the final goal and that is
to achieve sustainable market growth and share. Other motive also include obtaining high
outcomes in form of revenues or gains.

After preparation of this report it has been concluded that leadership and management is
indirectly linked with each other and plays important role in the organisational system. There are
certain characteristics that leader possess in order to influence the behaviour of every individual
for accomplishing final goals and objectives. The report include Accor hotels in which managers
play prospective function to combine efforts of everyone into single direction or path. Hence, it
become necessary to understand the difference between leadership and management which is
highlighted. There are several management styles that are available having different dimensions.
