Introduction
The employees of a particular company are the most important assets of the
company. Depending on the works of the employees the organization may find
success. So the authority of the organization must find them in an active position
while recruiting. The assignment is about the different recruitment process that
the management of the company must follow in order to select the proper eligible
employees for the desired posts. There is a company named The United Parcel
Service, and the company is going to hold a recruitment process in the
organization. This is the world’s largest package delivery company. This
company is also related to the supply chain management solutions. The head
office of the company is in the city of Sandy Spring, Georgia, and United States.
UPS delivers more than 15 million packages on a daily basis to more or less 8
million people in more than 200 countries all around the world. The factors and
the issues that are involved in the process are given in the below section. In this
project the process of recruiting people in the company will be discussed. The
recruitment will be done through different process of interview. Before taking the
interview the details of the candidates will be taken just to shortlist the eligible
candidates. The interview questions will help to know about the knowledge of
the candidates and after finishing the interview part the selection of the candidate
will help the candidate to be the employee of the company.

Task 1
1.1 Documentation to select a new employee for the organization:
The recruitment process is the process by which the company selects the eligible candidates for
the desired posts in the company. The United Parcel Service has particular documentation
method to select the new employees for the organization.
Job Analyses- In job analyses all the information and details regarding a job is found according to
their importance relating to job. Lot of data is required to ascertain job description and important
elements like duties, necessary skills, work environment etc.
Person Specification- According to my point of view the eligible candidates must have a bachelor
degree in management course from a recognized university and must have good communication skill
and computer handling. The candidate must also have a two years' experience in the field of work. I
personally feel that the candidates must have a confident and a positive attitude in order to handle
different kinds of situations in the sales market.
Job Description- Required qualified and skilful candidates for the Area Sales Manager post. The
main job of this post is to supervise all the sales activities of a particular area. It means that the
responsibility of the Area Sales Manager is limited in an area where the sales will be done.
Advert- The United Parcel Service requires eligible employees to join the company. The vacancies
are available in the company for the management students. Come and join The United Parcel
Service and enhance your career by providing the best servitude.
Short listing Matrix- The candidates with proper eligibility will be selected through the interview
processes. The processes are, written test, GD and personal interview and the candidates passing all
the rounds will get the appointment letter from the company.
Invitation to interview: There are ten vacancies in The United Parcel Service for the post of Shop
Assistance. Interested candidates may mail there CVs in the companies email id that is given
below. The interview date is on 01.05.2017. The candidates with a bachelor degree in the
management study and having two years of experience can attain the interview. The place of the
interview will be announced by phone calls. All the best.

Interview questions: The interview questions are about to know the specification and the
knowledge of a particular candidate. The speaking power and the ability to handle the pressure will
be checked with the help of the interview questions. I personally feel that the eligible candidates
must face a tough interview round in order to make them efficient. It is actually the post is too much
crucial from the company’s point of view so I think it is necessary to test the eligibility of the
candidates in the most effective way.

1.2 Impact of legal, ethical and regulatory considerations:
The employment is the most crucial process for any companies that are recruiting new
employees for different posts. It is to say that the employees with the proper eligibility must be
selected for the organization(Gitman, 2009). In general employment law rights of an employee
and employer is mentions and what they can expect from each other. Maternity leave is given to
a mother at the time of birth of her child and paternity leave is given to parents for family time.
Their are fixed rate at the time of maternity and paternity leave in law and recently some
important changes are made in it. It is made more flexible and at the same time it is getting more
complicated. Work on equality is done because earlier is considered that maternity leave is more
important than paternity leave but spending time with parents is also now considered important.
For new parents at the time of birth or adoption, they are entitled up to 50 week of leave out of
which 37 can be paid if they meet certain criteria. In EU law, a women who is pregnant has right
for health and safety after giving birth and parents will get time off if their children are young.
Impact of Employment legislation and laws: There are many impacts of the legislation and
laws of employment. The impacts can be classified in three stages in order to describe the actual
scenarios of impacts.
 Direct impact where the behaviour of the organization as well as the employees changes
because of the legal requirements of the organization. It is so because the employees and
the management department must work according to the requirements of the company in
order to achieve the organizational targets.
 Indirect impacts where the laws encourage the employees to make a new practice.

 Affinity impacts where there is no particular links between law and practice but these two
facts are moving in the parallel directions.
General employment law: This law actually prescribes the standards for overtime pay and the
wages that affect most public and private employment. It requires the employers to pay the
employees in the proper way and the overtime pay must be one-and-one-half-times of the regular
pay.
Different types of acts: There are different types of act in the recruitment process depending
upon the gender, the physical condition, racism and discrimination of the candidates. Many
countries face problem of race discrimination like in some people still have problem with Jewish
people. In Disability equality act, people with some disability has some benefits because of their
problem and they also has right to equality as someone cannot ignore or recruit them because of
their disability. Employment rights act stated that both employer and employee have some right
so both can give fair treatment to each other. Working time regulations fix the time that should
be given by an employee to their employer at the time of work and rates for overtime and extra
work. Gender act states that discrimination should not be done on the basis of gender as all are
considered equal. The company may require different types of employees for various posts. The
candidates therefore must be grouped depending on the condition of their health, ability,
mentality and choices. That is where the company will be able to recruit perfect candidates for
the posts of the company.
Ethical considerations in recruitment: The ethical consideration in the recruitment process is
the most crucial factor above them all. In this process the candidates are tested depending upon
their various characteristics. In this scenario many ethical consideration can be derived and they
are as follows,

 The candidates must be selected according to the profile of the job in order to prevent the
future inefficiency.
 The advertisements of the job must be placed in the perfect place in order to get more and
more feedback from the interested candidates.
 The position or thepostof the job must be clarified in the best way so that the candidates
get know about the job and after that they can approach.
 The candidates must be reviewed based on their merits. The organization needs proper
eligible candidates for the desired job. Through this process the management of the
company will be able to recruit the perfect employees for the perfect jobs.
1.3 Role of HR manager in the selection process:
The role of the HR manager in the selection process is simple form the organizational point
view. Bu the role is too tough as the HR is the one who will make the decision of selecting the
right employee for the right kind of job(Active Healthy Kids Canada's Position on Active Video
Games for Children and Youth, 2013). Depending on the decision of the HR the company may
find themselves sin the better position or in a problematic situation (Ring, 2014). The candidates
are also motivated by the HR while giving the interview.
My part in the selection process: I am one of the active members in the selection process and
being on e of the crucial part of the recruitment process I have to go through the criteria every
now and then in order to select the eligible candidates for the organization. I have decided to
choose the candidates based on three main things,
1. Application form: The process and the sense of humor of the candidates will be known after
seeing the way by which the candidates have filled up the form. It puts a large positive

impression upon the mind of the selector if the form is filled up in the most effective way.
According to me it says about the overall images of the candidates.
2. CV's, References: Secondly the candidates are asked to drop their CVs and after going through
the details the impression and the academic quality of the candidates are known. I personally will
go with this process in order to select a particular candidate in the organization. Moreover the
references of the existing employee of the company play a vital role in order to select candidate.
I can say that the candidate with a reference is always one step forward rather than the other
employees.
3. Interviews: Last but not the least; the interview process plays a vital role in the selection
process. I personally agree with the fact this is the most common process to select the eligible
employee in an organization. Every single detail of the candidates is known through the
interview process only.
In this field of selection process the halo effect is more than effective. The effect actually tells
about the tendency to use the global evaluation in order to make judgment about specific
personality. The personal quality of the people that has not been met yet, are known through the
halo effect. The quality and the ability of the candidates can be known through this effect. This
effect really helps in the process of interview and while selecting the candidates for the different
posts of the company.

2.1 Skills of Leadership:
There are many skills of a particular leader in the organization (Peshawaria, 2011). It is to be
said that the leaders are the ones that can help the organizational employees to achieve the goals.
Moreover, there are many skills of the leaders that must be taken under the matters of concern.
The skills are as follows,
Motivational Skill: This is the most important skill of the leader, and the leader can motivate the
employees of the organization in the most effective way (Coumbe-Lilley and Weidner, 2015).
This helps the employees to achieve the given goal. Moreover, the employees need motivation
when they are doing a particular job. The employees with proper guidance of the leaders find
themselves to be in the perfect situation. The employee satisfaction level is thus increased.
Leading capacity: This is the most useful skills of the leaders that help the organization and its
employee in the most effective way. The employees who are doing their work in the working
field need the guidance of some experience people. The leaders are the one who can give all the
supports to the employees by setting the perfect example of work for the employees.
Solving the troubles of the employees: The employees often face problems while working in
the organization. The problems are mainly solved by the employees in order to maintain the
perfect workflow in the organizational environment.
Derives the Outcomes: The outcomes from a particular job or work is mainly derived by the
leaders of the organization. It is to be said that the leaders play a vital role in the jobs of the

 Situational Leadership
This leadership style is based on organizational situations that leaders possess.
 Charismatic leadership
This type of leadership style motivates people to perform better at higher levels in the
organization..And also they need to be committed to the organization or to the cause.
 Transactional leadership
This process helps them to develop a way by which each and every department of
the organization manages their employees by providing rewards in situations when
their work is good and giving them punishments in situations their work is not good
 Leadership based on Behaviour
This type of leadership style is based on behaviour of leaders towards employees working
in the teams or working at lower level in the organization.
 Leadership based on Transformation
This type of leadership style is the style which helps in identifying the changes required
as well as creating a vision for the organizational changes that can occur randomly.

Visionary : The leaders must have the visionary skill that will to see the upcoming future
position of the organization easily. It will make things better for the leaders of the organization
and they will be able to maintain the flow of organizational work easily.
Adaptability: The leaders must have the capability to adapt the situation of the organization. It
means that there are different types of situations in the organization where they have to fit
themselves in order to deal with the flow of work .
Networking ability: It is the communication process that is being used by the leaders of the
organization and this process helps them to communicate with the employees of the company.
Creditability: It is the process which is being used to analyse the mentality of the leaders in the
situations when their teams perform better . In some situations they give credit to the team so as
to satisfy the team members but mostly they take the credit by the way of their leadership
quality.
Decision maker: It states all the major decisions that are being taken by leaders in order to
provide the team, a proper path for growth and development.

kept in mind by the leaders. It helps the leaders to achieve the organizational target easily.
Energy: It tells about the enthusiasm and interest of the leaders towards the situations of the
company and to work effectively and efficiently in the business environment.
Empathy:This is an important skill that helps the leaders to analyse and understand the situations
and problems of employees.
Open mindedness This is an important characteristic of the leaders that in the situation of
conflicts or misunderstandings among the employees the leader has to be open minded so that he
can take decision by listening to both the parties.
Strategy Formation ;- The strategy formation is an important element that takes place in the
organization based on the performance of employees and every leader forms the strategy based
on team performance.
People focused: The people in the team are being focused and evaluated on every level ranging
from working style to their problems.
The leaders of UPS must use the transformational leadership style in order to maintain the flow
of work in an organization on consistent basis. It can be said that all the above mentioned skills
are the important characteristics possessed by the leaders. It will help the organization to achieve
the goals in effective and efficient way.

2.2 Difference between leadership and management:
There are much difference between the leaders and the managers of the organization. It is to be
said that they belong to the different level of the organization. The difference among the leaders
and the managers are as follows,
 The managers have employees, and the leaders have followers, it means that the
managers of the organization have their employees to do jobs for the organization. It is to
be said that the managers want the work to be completed at any cost. They don't want to
hear any excuses from the employees. I the other hand the leaders have followers, it
means that the leaders show the path of work to the employees. It makes the employees
satisfied, and they believe that they have the proper guidance to complete any sorts of
work in the organization. It is the capability of the leader that makes the employees
follow them.
 Managers react to change whereas the leaders create the change in the organization. It
means that the managers are willing to complete the given work without bothering the
situation of the organization. According to the managers, if any changes are needed in
the organization then the changes must be done without any kids of excuses. The
employees find themselves in very weird situations. The leaders create the changes in
these kinds of cases. It means that the leaders of the organization are the ones who are
responsible for making all the necessary changes in the organizational environment. The
employees are satisfied, and the organizational goals are achieved easily.
 The managers give the direction to the employees, but the leaders create their team. It is
to be said that the managers give all kinds of direction theoretically, but the employees
have to choose the direction of work by themselves. It mainly happens when the

create teams to complete any particular task. It is to be clarified that the leaders help the

 The managers are the ones who try to be heroes after achieving the success it means that
credit goes to the managers of the organization only after the completion of a particular
task. The leaders, in this case, make the heroes. It means that the employees of the
organization are considered as the heroes if a particular task is completed. The credits are
given to the employees by the leaders of the organization.
 The managers of the organizations are always focused, but the leaders of the
organization share their focuses among the employees to make them effective in the field
of work. It puts a good effect on the outcomes of the organization.
 The managers have good ideas to do a particular task inside the organizational
environment. It means that the ideas are provided to the employees, but the way of
implication of the ideas is not provided. Sometimes the employees face difficult
situations to implement the ideas in the correct way. The leaders, in this case, grab the
ideas in the most effective way and implement the ideas in the best way. It helps the
employees to be tension free, and they can concentrate on their work. The employees are
satisfied in the most effective way, and the organizational target is achieved easily. The
implementation process and the way to approach the employees to follow the path make
the leaders more effective in the field of work.

growth and development . It is said that the platforms provided by the leaders and the managers
are different according to the point of view of the company. They have different roles to play as
far as the employees and the organizational targets are concerned. Leaders actually takes care of
the delivery and the process of delivery whereas the managers of the company take care of the
orders of the parcels. The employees are related to the leaders and the orders are related to the

managers is
The factors affecting leadership
Influence and power are the two main factors that affect leadership and it also affects the
organization in a positive way. The influencing capability of the leaders can influence the
employees of the organization in the most effective way. In the field of work it can motivate the
employee to work properly. It can be said that the influences provided the leaders can help the
employees in all positive ways. The power factor of leadership has two main aspects like
position and person. Position tells about the skill of the leaders where they specify the position of
the employees in the organizational environment. It can be said that this is very crucial in order
to set the limitation among the employees.
There are three level of leadership styles
 Operational leadership style is the style which mainly comes into play in different
operational situations of the company. It states about the operational activities of the
leaders in different kinds of situations.

 Team leader actually directs and controls a particular team in a particular scenario of the
organization. The leader of a team can be considered as a captain who can order or direct
the employees in different situations.
 Strategic leaders actually controls the organizational environment depending on different
strategies they form The strategic decision of the leaders affect the organization in all
positive ways so that the employees of the company can get all the benefits while
working in the organizational environment.
2.3 Comparing the leadership style in different situations of the organization:
There are many leadership styles that are needed to deal with the different situation of the
organization. For example, in situation 1 a new leader join a post where he has inexperienced
team which resist most of the decision he take and leader have very tight deadline to get the work
done. In this situation autocratic style will be appropriate because most of the decisions taken by
leader is ignored by employee so leader has to become rigid about his decisions and take actions
against those who do not follow his order. The team does not have much experience may be
because of that they are having trouble in understanding the orders and performing activities
according to it so instead of asking them what should be done, proper instruction should be given
to them so they do not use their own mind and follow orders. Work has to be done in short time
period so there is no time to teach them new things and for sometime autocratic leadership will
be best option. In same situation if transactional style is considered than those who are not
working according to instructions of leader than they will be punished and they also have to face
other consequences for underperformance. To motivate these kind of employees Mc Gregor,
theory X would be right approach because in case some employees start work according to

superior than they should be given reward as they are following orders but if still some workers
do not follow orders than punishment would be last option for them.
In situation 2 when a new leader join a post, he got experienced team which has good
reputation and performance but he does not have much time to complete the task that is given to
him. Democratic style would be better in this situation as most of employees know how to do
their work and they have good experience so they can be trusted with at the time of decision
making. They know how work is done so their views should be taken at the time of decision
making and at the same type this power can be given to them also so the whole process get
shorter because they do not have much time. In same situation if transactional style is considered
than rewards should be given to those workers who have performed better than expectation.
Most of employees will do their work but something extra should be given in reward to those
who perform better than others. To motivate these kind of workers Mc Gregor, theory Y would
be better option as they will be motivated when they get some extra incentives and they will feel
respected when leader will involve them in decision making. Most of the employee in this
situation seek respective instead of incentives so when their views are taken they will get
motivated and perform with their best ability.

3.1 Benefits of teamwork in an organization:
In the organization, the employees who can help their company to reach the goals of their work.
The employees work in a team to fulfil their work(Klee, 2012). The team work is important for
an organization to complete their goals. It have lots of benefits such as,
The knowledge and originality of fosters: each employees in an organization have their view
points, ideas or plans. The manager or the leader of the team gathered each idea of the workers

and tried to make a new plan which helps the company to get the high position. On the other
side, the teamwork creates a keenness to work hard for the employees that are not included in the
individual work list.
Builds conviction: the relationship between the partners or with the leaders should be very
strong. For this reason, they can share their ideas, knowledge with their leaders or partners.
Therefore, it decreases the disagreements. It also helps the workers to encourage one another and
help each other(Anderson, 2016). Along with this, it also beneficial for the organization to solve
any conflict situation. If their relationship is good, then they can solve all problems together.
The forces of blends balancing forces: in the teamwork of an organization the employees of
the team can notice the knowledge and abilities of other members. Therefore, it helps them to
increase their work level to make his or her image in the organization. According to with this, it
is also beneficial for the organization because they can get for plans to develop their business. ‘
Promotes a broad intellect of possession: in the organization, they recruit those employees
who are able for the particular post. But sometimes the employees faces some problems between
them in the organization such as commutation problems, cultural problems, etc. therefore, the
leader of the team have to solve their problems and also should maintain a good environment in
the workplace. If the employees can understand each other, then it creates faith between them.
The leader shows them their object, and they fulfil it together. According to with this, the faith
between them helps to do work in the workplace properly.
Encourages strong risk-taking: in the organization, to work in a team, it helps them to get
support from other members. When they work in a team properly, they can achieve a great

them for getting more success in future(Slovic, 2001).
The Belbin Team inventory is a kind of a behavioral test and can also be termed as the Belbin
Team Role Inventory. It was actually devised by Meredith Belbin to measure the preferences of
nine teams . The effectiveness of team working can be increased by following the series of
steps . Belbin Team Role. Belbin has adopted that that every member of a team must remain
active all the time and they must help each other in order to make the performance of the team
effective in the field.
3.2 Solutions to solve conflicts in team of an organization:
The leader of a team also works as a team member. But the team leader has various
responsibilities. When the head of the organization makes the team, then they also select a team
leader(Bagshaw, Lepp and Zorn, 2007). When a leader makes objects and also the process to
fulfil that, then it also needed for them to concentrate towards the process. Infect, the leader
should inform his or her team members about the work process, the deadline and have to give
exact information about the task.
The leader should communicate with his or her employees. The miscommunication makes a
complex situation in the workplace. This type of situation creates arguments between the leader
and employee. Therefore, as a component or team organizer, they should avoid that situation
which affects the environment in the organization. On the other side, personal problems of the
employees also effect on their performance. The leader has to look at those problems and also
see that these problems do not take place in the workplace. At first, it is requisite to save those
matters. The leaders must share their performance among the employees to achieve the

conflicts may occur and they are discussed as,
Task conflict: It is the distribution of task where the employee find themselves in weird situation
the conflict arises . It will happen only if the tasks are not divided properly among the
employees. The increasing responsibility or avoidance can make the employees dissatisfied and
that is where the conflict may occur.
Relationship conflict: Every organization looks for a perfect relationship among the employees
or between the employers and employees of the company. It can be said that the lack of proper
behavior inside the organizational environment can bring the relationship conflict inside the
organization.
There are five ways to control the conflicts. These options or ways are mainly defined by
Thomas and Klinnemann. In this case competing and collaborating can be used in order to avoid
the conflicts. United Parcel Service believes that proper competitions among the employees can
bring the conflicts to an end. At the end of the competition there will be reward for the best
employee. This will divert the minds of the employees from the conflicts and they will start
concentrating in their field of work. Moreover, collaborating work of different employees can
solve many problems inside the organization. It is the effectiveness of different employees that
will help employees to complete a given task and it will decrease the probability of occurrence of
conflict.

3.3 Strategy to improve the effectiveness of the team in organization:
The group efficiency can expand the position of the organization in the marketplace. For
achieving the goals, some phases like forming, working and shaping have to handle carefully.
The organization should give proper training to their employees. It is valuable in the
effectiveness of a team(Aubé and Rousseau, 2011). Along with this, the staffs should participate
regularly to complete their giving task. With it, the workers have to give attention to the plans of
the company, it encourages them very well in the workplace and also helps them to accomplish
the objectives of the association. Arguments can affect the performances and whole efficiency of
association. Therefore, they have to solve it carefully. The roles of every person's ion the
organization are important. Geographical factors and working environment are also required to
reach success. Otherwise administrative hierarchy, managerial culture, agreements are also
necessary to influence the effective of a team. There are various steps to enhance group

4.1 Factors involved in planning the monitoring and assessment of work performance:
The persons of the association should work with experienced people so that they have recruited
experienced people for the job. From experienced people, they got better recommendations.
Performance related pay is a way through which salary of an employee is decided according to
his performance and all the policy regarding this is prior agreed by employees so at the of salary
payment they do not face any issue. Those who perform better get better remuneration compare
to those who under perform. The features of monitoring tools are included in every assignment,
but every assignment carried some differences. It is necessary to have a distinguishing constraint
in each assignment. With this, the communication skills and progression skills also evaluate the
performance of each employee.
The employees have to complete all the tasks or job before time. It is a sign of a successful
organization. There are some things which has followed by the organization to develop them
