INTRODUCTION
Balance reading programs uses research based elements of comprehension, vocabulary
and fluency which further includes the instruction in the combination of all small group, its main
elements are reading, writing, speaking and listening. Therefore, report is also based upon the
plan of early years- foundation to Year 2 which consist of three units of work that look outward
from the natural world to extend an engagement with English Literacy through literature and
language. The report is divided into two project. In project 1, the report will describe the year
level, the scope of a language, cultural diversity and the range of students reading the
achievement as per Australian Curriculum. Further, the present study will analyse and annotated
the lesson plan in relation to the element of a balance reading program.
In project 2, report will define the balance reading program by using different examples
of the element. Further it critically evaluated and discuss the selected lesson plan by providing
the definition of balance literacy program.
MAIN BODY
PROJECT 1
1. Student Comprehension
The intention is to provide the students with new knowledge and help them with gaining
new growth and development in the specific field. The year-level of selected students is year 2.
The teaching components of the program is English literacy through English literature. The
students will be taught with basic and advance English. Along with it, the students will be made
to learn new things such as critical thinking in English, phrasing, clauses etc,. All of these things
will be taught in the form of Arts.
Multi-modal Texts
Below prepared are the 5 multi-modal texts for the students:
A picture book will be provided to the students which is going to include attractive text
and good photographs.
A web page, in which students will be provided with elements such as oral language,
sound effects, written language.
Live teaching of the literature in which students will be made to learn with the help of
linguistics

Audio CD's will be provided to the students, which are going to include options where
different tracks and audios of literature would be provided to the students.
Gestural approach will be used as a multi-modal to provide students with gestures and
help him to learn and develop new knowledge.
2. Describing the class
Early years – foundation to year 2, is consisted of unit of works that also look outwards
from the natural world to an engagement with the English Literacy through literature and
language. In this, there are various learning areas such that Geography, science and mathematics.
I am studying as an MBA student and the scope of language as per the Australian
Curriculum is such that there is a wide scope of learning languages in addition to English that
extends student's literacy aggregation and their capacity in order to communicate. Further, it also
strengthen as the student's in order to understand the nature of languages, culture and the process
of communication as well. For this particular lesson plan, I chooses character language such that
this language are those, whose writing system is either syllabic, ideographic and may be the
combination of a syllabus which further involve different reading process as the unit itself
consist of reading. This language also help to learn new script as well (Asselin, 2018). Apart
from this, I used Roman Alphabet Language well it is so because these are those languages
whose writing system or being visually recorded is Roman Alphabet and whose reading demand
of the learners are also similar to the English as well.
Apart from this, the range of students who reading the achievement as per the Australian
Curriculum is such that the foundation stage of this learning plan is to focus on the main
curriculum areas such that English, Mathematics, Science and geography. Therefore, these areas
have all standard at foundation and even at the time of early years of schooling, only scroll may
choose to structure teaching and some learning programs that is around the Victorian Early Years
Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF).
3.Analyzing the plan
The main key element of the balance reading program is instruction in writing, speaking
and reading and In the same way, these elements are also used in the present earning plan as
well. Such that the plan of Early years- foundation to Year 2 is as mentioned below:

Pattern: this is the foundation year English Curriculum course in which it is the unit of
work that particularly examine the pattern in literature as well as language. It will also provide
the suggestion for some follow up activities that investigating the pattern in the mathematics and
creative arts as well (Rupley, Logan & Nichols, 2019). From this pattern, the student will easily
read and view the variety of multi modal texts which further includes the print based texts and an
online video and some artwork. The focus on the literature and literacy also encompasses the
learning how to use predicting as a inclusion strategy and further it also examines the structure
of the sentence as well. In addition to this, this also comparing the informative and imaginative
text and then exploring the purpose of each type of text as well.
This unit Is designed from sequence 1 to sequence 12 and the unit of work is uses rich
children's literature as its foundation and further designed to explore as well as investigate the
pattern in literature with language. Apart from this, students will experience modeled and guided
the reading of stories from different authors and even students also compare the factual and
fictional books who contain the similar theme as well. The unit main focus is to reading and
writing the section using some action verbs that will help students to raise their skills of reading
and writing. Apart from this, it will also help in learning to use of onset and rime of the words as
a word attack strategy at the time of reading and spelling strategy at the time of writing.
Reading the landscape: This unit basically allows the students to develop their
understanding of the key element of a sentence by investigating the whole geographical world
around them. Not only this, it also asses the need of a reader and then give them opportunities in
order to increase their geographical awareness using this narrative text (Pressley, 2015). For this
student will also use online materiel and some advance technologies that help to building their
environment, in this way, they will also become familiar with many features if the local
environment and start noticing the similarities as well as differences between it.
The unit is basically comprising the 12 learning sequences that is designed to be taught.
Using this unit, will help to determine the need of a reader and also achieve the students work
through some critical and creative thinking activities which will further see them compare and
contrast a series of an environment. Therefore, the students will keep engaging themselves with
the range of informative, narrative and digital texts which further provide help in order to gain
better understanding of the local as well as distant places.

Investigating egg In stories and science: this unit develops the theme of eggs In both
English and Science. Through this unit, the students will also use everyday language and specific
vocabulary in order to discuss their observation and some understanding of the life cycle. Further
it also creates text that further includes the entire explanation of the life cycle that is based upon
their observation. The students who read the unit will also participate in the group and class in
order to make findings (Blair-Larsen & Williams, 2019). Moreover, this will help to compare the
text on similar themes both imaginative and informative. Thus, it help to analyses the needs of a
reader in which they listen to and read text which are a complex of narrative and information
report that further identify the text structure and language features as well.
This is also designed around with 12 sequences which are further vary in duration. The
student in this unit will also compare the text on similar themes using both imaginative and
informative that further identify the similarities and difference in the text structure and some
language features. Through this unit, the students will easily determine the learning needs and
they will also overcome the issue of their speaking and learning.
In order to meet the needs of all student in a diverse classroom, teachers in the inclusive
schools should be consider how they work together in order to improve the reading, writing and
listening skills of the students. Therefore, there are diverse range of learning needs of the reader
in a classroom such as they can easily understand, raise their learning and speaking skills as well.
PROJECT 2
4. Explaining the meaning of balanced reading program then describing the examples expected
As need to be understand the structure of phonics instruction in reading, programs grows,
that helps to develop the balanced reading program more pervasive and intellectual. Balanced
reading program can more integrates the whole practices from both whole language and code
emphasis approaches (Abrami and et.al., 2016). Reading is the complex process which takes
several years to learn and the more advanced aspects of reading such as analysis of synthesis of
ideas, take several years more.
Readers has come up with different skills of learning they belong to multiplicity of
backgrounds, with divergent levels of knowledge, verbal skills, motivation and reasoning
abilities. Such as the present balanced program which based on the English language the extends
the ability of students in communication process. It helps students to understand the different
language, culture and the process of communication as well (Lopatovska and et.al., 2016). This

learning process has been based on the new developing areas and brings the new research for the
students to learn more into detailed manner. In the contrast, apparently the every knowledges is
filtered from teachers which makes the process more effective and leading generating task. Apart
from that, it helps to bring the different opportunity which makes the process more generating
and leading development task. Apparently, some balanced instructional approaches are based on
misunderstandings about reading developments. As a consequence they are both poorly
conceived and ineffective (Bailey, Arciuli and Stancliffe, 2017). There are given some elements
that helps to more understand the meaning of balance reading program.
Lesson Plan
Objective
The objective of the lesson is to teach the students with new knowledge of English
language. It is important for the students to develop and gain better skills and gain new
knowledge.
Overview
The lesson will teach the students with basic English language and the advancements and
growth of the English language.
Timeline
The time period of the project is 2 weeks. Each class will cover 2 topics and will be of 30
minutes.
Interaction Patterns
The interaction patterns used here will be linguistics, audio and visual programs and
knowledge based learning.
Assessing progress
To assess the progress of the students, important strategies will be used. Students will be
provided with tests in order to understand their performance.
Word Study
This is the study of alphabetical system which consists area of phonics such as letters,
sounds and relationship and another is morphemic analysis which means using word parts to

denote meaning. In other words, Word Study basically involves both encoding and decoding
process of the symbols. So that, helps student to direct understand the meaning of the literature.
Interactive Read Aloud
This also involves and describe the balance reading program by the teacher in loud voice
in front of the students. It helps to determine the actual results by asking the questions to the
students related to that session. It helps to analyse the working criteria or goals to develop the
effective learning growth for the students. It analysed the work goals and develop the situational
analysis to deep understand the reading material and task by the students.
Shared Reading
Shared reading is the another example of element of balance reading program where
either enlarged the print is utilized or all students have the text to share the reading strategies and
skills that the students need to learn (Cecil, Gipe and Marcy, 2017). In this process teaching
models has used reading strategies that should be learned by the students.
Strategy Groups
This groups also known as guidance reading groups where teacher guide some students
who needed to work on a specific strategy or that has a similar reading level. In this process each
student has their own copy of reading goals which discover their reading goals and build up the
leading generating goals. It discovers the process learning goals which develops the better
understanding between the all other groups and goals. In this element teacher uses this explicity
reach and to make student understand learning.
Independent Reading Readers workshops
Independent reading is a time when students reach text at their independent reading level
to practice reading strategies develop and automatically. In this process student individual put
efforts to get the good results as in to develop the fluency and automatically (Chambers, Cheung
and Slavin, 2016). The teacher confers with students one on one, prompts the use of the
strategies, discusses various aspects of the text and learns about the student as a reader.
Independent Reading Conference

It helps to develop the most enlarging and develops the best output returns in order to
build up the best outcome results in order to build up the new emerging trend results. In this
learning goals where the people learn one to one with students to teach the student to learn more
enlarging and developing. This system done by through conferences, videos where the people or
student itself learn things accordingly. It helps to develop the deep understanding band learn in
an frequent manner according to the needs and wants.
From the basis of above example or elements of balance learning plans would help
student to learn more enlarging and effective in order to start-up the new effective. Besides, this
literacy programme also become more productive and effective with the help of some potential
strategies such as Phonemic Awareness which is the ability to hear that a spoken word is made
up the potential growth services (Lombardi and Behrman, 2016). It brings the new working
effective services in order to build up the new learning goals and brings the new management
programs. Phonemic Awareness is the ability to hear that a spoken word is made up of a series of
discrete sounds.
Phonic instruction can also very helpful in developing the best develop results in order to
build-up the leading goals and techniques to modernise the better development task. Phonic
instruction specially based on some letter and letter pattern through which student get to
understand the particular situation and goals. This process helps student to learn or decode the k
language into more proper manner. It helps to take the best developing results for the student
learning process. Vocabulary is the another most efficient and popular kind of structure task to
build the more understanding between the literacy plans that helps to develop the leading
development goals to build up the new challenging task.
It is very necessary and influencing structural task which mentioned the working goals
into more effective. It is the responsibility of the teacher and student to get undress the concept
of the plan in order to learn the importance (Lopatovska and et.al., 2016). Overall, elements
enable the learning targets in order to develop the research goals in order to meet out the results
and growth for the growing target performances. Overall study helps to understand the theory to
overcome the issues related to their speaking and learning process.
5. Critically evaluate the lesson plan and definition of a “balanced literacy program”

Balanced literacy program:-
Balance literacy is come as a response to the heavy phonics based instruction and the
extreme teaching of all languages. The literacy skills are learned by teaching in context of
writing and reading(Williams,2017). It is a program that is used for research based elements.
These elements are vocabulary, comprehension, phonemic awareness, phonics and fluency etc. it
also includes the instruction that is the combination of the small group, whole group and 1:1
instruction in writing, reading, listening and speaking with each elements of the research based
element. The read aloud, shared reading, guided reading, shared writing, interactive writing and
writing workshop are the components of balanced literacy approach. The purpose of the balanced
literacy is to find better balance by mixing two extremes but in present it comes out with more
than the finding such as good blend between the phonics based instruction and whole language.
Balance literacy is mainly balanced the three components. These components are teacher models,
teacher supports learners when the student practice it and learners work independently. In
balanced literacy program, the important aspect is how the teacher teach the students rather than
what the teacher teaches(Lombardi & Behrman,2016).
Positive aspects:-
It helps to students to understand the nature of languages, culture and the process of
communication as well that enhance the learning experience of the students. Students learns
many things from the lesson plan such as writing system in syllabic and ideographic, different
reading process and new script. This lesson plan covers all standard at foundation and even at the
time of early years of schooling. It provides particular examination of the pattern of literature as
well as language(Williams,2017).
It compares the informative and imaginative text that build the better understanding of
the each text. It examines the structure of the sentence that reduces the mistakes provide better
results. Students enhances their experience by reading of modeled and guided from different
authors and the students also compare the factual and fictional books and build the understanding
and knowledge.
The unit is used some action verbs that helps to enhancing the ability and skills of writing
and reading of the students. It also helps in learning to use of onset and rime of the words as a
word attack strategy at the time of reading and spelling strategy at the time of writing. It

enhances the opportunities of increase the geographical awareness using the narrative text. The
students use online material and some advance technologies for better understanding and
enhance the learning experience about the environment(Graham & et.al.,2018).
It helps to enhance the learning abilities of the students by engaging with the range of
informative, narrative and digital texts that helps to build better understanding of the local and
distant places. It provides awareness and help in reading and speaking. The lesson helps to
increase the critical thinking of the students. With the help of unit, the students easily determine
the learning needs and they are also able to overcome the issues related to their speaking and
learning. There are diverse range of learning needs of the reader in a classroom such as they can
easily understand, raise their learning and speaking skills as well.
Negative aspects:-
It covers only the scope of language as per the Australian Curriculum whereas there are a
wide scope of learning languages is available. They only uses Roman Alphabet Language of
writing system. These shows lack knowledge of other languages of written system like bitstram
charter, arimo etc. They only focuses on one curriculum areas that covers English, Mathematics,
Science and geography(Chambers, Slavin & Cheung, 2015).
There is restricted that only scholar may choose to structure teaching and some learning
programs means students have no right to choose to learn programs. It only focuses on literature
and literacy also encompasses the learning that do not cover all the aspects that may be not give
an effective result. The work of the unit is only used by rich children's literature means that unit
do not work for all type of children.
The unit only focuses on reading and writing skills. They do not focus listening and
speaking skills of the students. It only develops the understanding of the key element of a
sentence. They do not develop the in-depth understanding of the whole geographical world
around them.
6. Findings and conclusion.
From the above analysis, it is founded that Balance reading program is a useful element
for reading, writing and speaking to the students and teachers. The report is divided in two
projects on the bases of plan of early years- foundation to Year 2. The project 1 is described
9

about classes and study of MBA student. It is also founded that the scope of language as per the
Australian Curriculum only. They do not involve all languages. It also analysis the plan of the
balance reading program that described the pattern of the literature as well as languages. It
provided suggestions about the pattern of the plan such as follows up activities that investigating
the pattern in the mathematics and creative arts. The unit is designed from sequence 1 to
sequence 12 that covers rich children's literature as well as investigate the pattern in literature
with language. Further, It is founded that with the help of units student can develop the
understanding of the key elements of the sentence and also assess the need of the reader. This
lesson comprised 12 learning sequences that is designed to be taught. The students who read the
unit they are eligible to participate in the group and class in order to make findings of the
litterateurs.
From the above study it has been summarized that balance literacy program play an
important role in order to plan of early years- foundation to Year 2. The report is defined in
project 1 about the scope of a language, cultural diversity and the range of students reading the
achievement as per Australian Curriculum. It is also defined the project 2 about the balance
reading program by using different examples of the element. Further it is evaluated the selected
lesson plan by providing the definition of balance literacy program (Chambers, Slavin &
Cheung, 2015).
CONCLUSION
As per the above scenario it has been discussed about the balanced reading program and
explained the importance of literature in the development process. The present study has
concluded the importance of English literature and their importance in term students. Present
report described the case plan which is of 2 years which based on three units that looked outward
from the natural world to extend an engagement with English literacy through literature and
language. Further study also explained the meaning of balance reading programs. Further, in this
study also explained about the different elements that helps make strong balanced literacy
programs such as shared reading, ready aloud, guided readding etc. this helped to deep
understand the importance of English literacy. Further, in this task analysed critically about the
lesson plan and definition of a balanced literacy program. That they explained that, this plan
