1. What is the presentation? How would you prepare yourself for a good presentation?
A presentation is an act of conveying information to a target audience it can bedemonstration,
lecture or a speech intended at educating, motivating, informing the audience, and it can also be
an introduction of a new product or idea.
When preparing for a presentation, it is important to remember that impression is essential
during the performance and keep in mind that one can never have a second chance to make the
first impression; therefore, you must give it your best(Van and Becker 2016). Here are some
steps to consider while preparing for a presentation;
Analyze your audience, when making for the performance one must clearly be aware of what
kind of the audience to expect, this will help you gather some information regarding your
audience such as, their interests, background, age diversity and other factors, which will help
you, prepare a quality presentation and aid in topic selection.
Topic selection, depending on what kind of the audience one has it possible now to select a topic,
which will fit the audience's interest. A relevant issue is easy to present since both the speaker
and the audience will enjoy the presentation and feel part of it.
Define the presentation's objectives; after selecting your topic, it is time now to state the
presentation's objectives (De, Valcke, and Roozen 2012). These objectives should clearly outline
what you want your audience to learn from your performance, and the desired outcome should
guide that. The goals will help you focus on the main topic of the presentation during your
research.
Preparation of the content of the presentations, at this stage the presentation objectives will be of
help to the present as they prepare the material, the content should contain three parts, the
introduction, body and the conclusion (Burgoon, Guerrero, and Floyd 2016). Make sure that the

opening is captivating to capture the audience attention, the body should be detailed and well
researched, prepare a conclusion that acts as a summary of the presentation, but it should leave
room for the audience wanting to know more.
Lastly, after getting all the necessary information it is essential that the presenter practices the
presentation before delivering the actual presentation, this can help one gain confidence and
make the necessary adjustments and changes if any are required.
2. How would you make an excellent and useful PowerPoint presentation?
For a presentation to be excellent and useful, it must be appealing to the audience, if the audience
gets bored during the presentation they lose interest and their concentration is lower hence they
do not get as much information as intended(Guo 2013). For presentation to be effective, you
should consider elements such as length, proper communication, use of appealing and
appropriate graphics, using appropriate charts,
3. How to identify information collection methods that will support review and
feedback of presentations?
Getting general, casual criticism from the presentation group
Following up with and examining responses with a group of onlookers individuals
Giving out email address and request recommendations on the most proficient method to
move forward
Monitoring reactions all through the presentation
Issuing a primary survey either same day or following day for a group of onlooker's
individuals to finish (Van, et al. 2017).

5. Describe the principles of effective communication.
In every presentation, communication is among the factors that affect the effectiveness of a
presentation, good communication results in an excellent presentation while bad communication
occurs in an ineffective presentation. Communication takes place in two forms verbal and non-
verbal communication, in verbal communication refers to the utterance of words while non-
verbal communications relate to the use of body language to convey a message. Here are some
principles to be applied to ensure effective communication during your presentation.
First, ensure Audience engagement, during a presentation always ensure that the audience
is actively participating, this helps in preventing boredom among the audience, and they will be
attentive during your presentation, one can ask questions, or give them a chance to contribute to
the topic. Secondly, use of proper body language, some people have a better understanding when
a point is described using some gestures or express satisfied facial expression to describe certain
emotions, body language enhances understanding among the audience, this is one way of
applying non-verbal communication.
Thirdly ensure clarity and simplicity in your presentation, using simple, precise language
and being clear and direct to the point during a performance is necessary, while addressing an
audience the speaker should avoid the use of jargon and complicated expiation. The audience
will enjoy and be part of a presentation where the speaker is direct to the point this is because
they can easily understand the message being conveyed through the presentation (Alwi, & Sidhu
2013). Lastly but not least, time, this is very important to ensure the effectiveness of

communication, when preparing for a presentation for instance at a workplace it is necessary to
consider time because the urgency of the message is essential, that is presenting or delivering a
message when it is likely to yield more benefit.
6. What could be the aids and materials available to support presentations? Explain
briefly.
For a presentation to be effective, one has to use some supporting materials, which are
appropriate to their topic. Use of sample items or real items helps the audience to remember the
explanation for a longer time than when the speaker explains without a diagram. Some of the
issues include but not limited to models, printed materials, photos and drawings, charts, manila
papers, whiteboards, electronic media, pens/markers. Each of these items will help the present in
creating a visual image in the eyes of the audience hence enhancing their understanding
(Živković, 2014).
For instance, photos, diagrams and other drawings could help the speaker be in a position
to clearly explaining the function of a given item; this is because they can point at the diagram
each of the part and gives its capacity hence the audience understands. The whiteboard and the
marker pens are used to write down some points; this could be necessary for anyone in the
audience taking notes. Electronic media could include laptops, which facilitates the presentation
by letting the crowd have a view of the speaker’s notes (Zarnetske, and Zarnetske 2015). Printed
media such as brochures, handout and notes will help because the audience will have their copies
hence they can follow what the speaker is saying and they can also carry them home this will
help them not forget the presentation.
