Welcome to your Student Assessment Workbook for BSBINN601 Lead and Manage Organisational Change.
This Student Assessment Guide will give you the opportunity to show your skills in determining strategic
change requirements and opportunities; and to develop, implement and evaluate change management strategies.
This will be achieved through producing and implementing a Change Management Plan and a Communications
Plan within a simulated business environment, FitLife.
This assessment is based on the following simulation:
Simulation: Lead and Manage Organisational Change
You will complete a number of tasks in developing a change process, implementing and critically evaluating its
outcomes. These tasks will be based on your role of Business Change Management Officer (BCMO) in a simulation
for FitLife, an organisation that is a chain of fitness and health clubs in Australia.
To do this case study, you will require to complete a number of tasks referring to the following resources:
Risk Management Policy
and Procedures
Recruitment and Selection
Policy and Procedures
Internal Communications
Policy and Procedures
FitLife’s policy and procedures related to risk management.
FitLife’s policy and procedures related to recruiting and selecting new staff members.
FitLife’s internal communications policy and procedures when engaging in internal
communication practices amongst staff members.
Meeting Code of Conduct Organisational set of rules to conduct effective meetings with internal and external
stakeholders.
FitLife Strategic Review A strategic analysis which provides a snapshot of the internal and
external environment including a summary of the trends and opportunities in the
health and
fitness segment.
Remember, you do not type your answers in this Student Assessment Guide, but use the Student
Assessment Workbook which is a separate document. This document is simply a guide to explain what you are
required to do, and by doing so, this will assist you to perform at your best.
Please note that your responses for this assessment can (where appropriate) use dot point format. Please refer to
the example provided to you in your Student Assessment Guide.
Note that to be deemed competent for this unit, you must achieve a satisfactory outcome for all of the assessment
tasks. This includes meeting the following conditions:
you must complete all of the tasks outlined in this Student Assessment Guide document to the standard
indicated in the performance requirements; these are listed under each of the tasks
you will then submit your completed workbook to your assessor electronically
you must perform the above two points within the given timeframes by your Assessor.

Assessment Event: FitLife
Simulation
In this assessment you will undertake a number of tasks associated with developing a change process, implementing
and critically evaluating its outcomes for a health and fitness organisation, FitLife, in accordance to the strategic
review the company has recently conducted through an external marketing agency named Statistica Australian
Marketing Research Agency (SAMRA).
The focus is on producing and evaluating a Change Management Plan that is based on the following actions:
identifying change issues
developing a change management plan
consulting with relevant stakeholders
developing and implementing a communication plan
monitoring and adjusting change management activities in accordance to outcomes achieved.
Task 1: Identify Change

1.1 Identify strategic change needs through an analysis of organisational
objectives

Strategic change is required in an organization when the organization goes through several problems and incurs losses and thus they
need a change in their approach to rectify their mistakes and to bring bout new changes within the company. Strategic change means
to change the strategies, objectives and goals of a company. All the objectives, goals and the visions of the company undergo a
change. For example if two or more companies sell the same products and they want to stay ahead of the other companies they will
have to adopt some new techniques and new ways to do so. There are several models of introducing change in a company, the
Kotter’s change model help the companies to go through a certain procedure to achieve certain changes. The steps of introducing
organizational changes are as follows:
Establishing the fact that change is required in the company and making the people of the company understand that how
much the change is important.
Making a group of supporters and who will understand the need to make changes and will also help others to co ordinate
with each other to reach that goal.
Developing new goals and strategies to take the company to new heights, the new strategies and goals will help the
organization to flourish in the future.
Communicating with the employees properly so that they are able to understand the new rules and visions of the
organization.
Encouraging the employees to make the changes possible within the organization.
The changes which are required to be introduced in the organization are as follows:
The introduction of technologically advanced gym equipment is required to make the organization successful.
A new mobile app is also required to be launched so that more people can get involved with the organization.
