INTRODUCTIONWithin a business enterprise, the administration plays a very deep and crucial role in theexecution of the operations and thus will lead the organisation. It helps to enhance theeffectiveness of business operations and other effective operations which will help in suitablerise in carrying out of different functions related to organisation and its stakeholders. For thepresent report, Marks and Spencer is been selected. It is a UK based retail enterprise.The report will cover the appraisal needs, techniques and private environment to carry outappraisals. Beside this, the performance review measures and helps in accessing thedevelopmental needs and training needs with advantages and disadvantages of learning anddevelopment measures. Also, the organisational learning and developmental policies are beenanalysed with need of individual learning and development opportunities.MAIN BODY1.1 The purpose of performance reviews and appraisalsThe performance reviews and appraisals are been an effective tool to manage the properassessment of the performance and thus will help in improving the managements understandingof the potential and skill sets of the organisation. The management of selected organisation willlook after the proper assessment of the attributes and qualities that is been possessed by anindividual within the selected retail firm (Khedher, 2015). Besides this, it we will also induce ahealthy competition within an enterprise and will encourage their employee's to give their bestwithin an enterprise. Some major purposes of performance reviews measures are:It helps the management of the organisation to identify the potential skills and operationsand thus will help in their suitable appraisal. It will also help in identifying the training needs of an individual or a team and takesuitable measures within M&S that helps in improving the efficiency of their work force.The performance review will also assist the management to identify the best employee towork over a project and handle the assigned responsibilities with high level of efficiency.Other than this, the organisation will also look after the appraisal measures as a responseto the performance evaluation measures and thus, it will impact the operations within the firm.Some major purposes of appraisal measures by the enterprise are:It will motivate the employee's or work force to work with more dedication andefficiency.1

As it is a very crucial activity, it is required to be handles withimmense effectiveness and manage the suitability of appraisals or rewards measures that areundertaken within the firm. Hence, to look after this, the management of the organisation will seethrough various measures or techniques that will help in proper assessment of the appraisalmeasures. Some major techniques that are followed within organisation are:Gathering basic information: This will involve the assessment of the details related toan individual or a team. It includes the information about the roles and responsibilities,code of conduct and behavioural aspects of an individual within the firm.Review overall performance of the firm: This step is been carried out within anorganisation which includes the complete assessment and evaluation of the effectivenessof performing roles and responsibilities that are been assigned to an individual by themanagement of the firm (Hershcovis and et.al., 2018). This makes the foundation ofappraisal of an employee within the business enterprise.Listing the accomplishments: Along with the basic job and responsibilities that are beenperformed within the organisation, the additional achievements and accomplishments thatare been gained by an individual employee over a course of time are been analyzed thatacts as the positive attribute for appraisal process.Identifying areas of development: this stage includes the evaluation of the training orimprovement requirements of an individual.
