INTRODUCTIONAn information system is defined as a software which is used to manage and analyse dataof a company in a better way. It is a branch of computers and science and individuals which isinvolved in interpreting the information and relevant data. Thus, the IT system of an organisationis mostly involved in planning, organising and monitoring the IT transactions and infrastructure.Additionally, IT is one of the branch of academic studies which is consist of gathering requireddata and network which is needed to operate IT functions in the company. This report willdiscuss about Panoptic consultancy which is a medium scale IT company that is going to helpMarriott UK to organise and manage their IT systems (Valacich and Schneider, 2015). MarriottUK is a hotel company that deals in providing accommodation services, food and beverageservices, etc. The respective hotel is facing issue in operating data from one division to another.Hence, a lot of time gets wasted in copying and updating the resources. Hence, Panopticconsultancy will help in managing this issue. Addition to this, the report will also help in havinga better understanding about use of IT system in the respective organisation. Similarly, there arevarious methods by which IT helps in managing customer relationship, data management, etc.which will be studies in this respective report. Addition to this, there are various software whichcan be used by the organisation in order to overcome their issue to data sharing which is furtherdiscussed in the file.TASK 1Demonstrate understanding of the role of different IT systems in support of organisationalobjectives.In an organisation, information technology division plays a vital role in planning,operating and regulating infrastructure of a particular organisation. It facilitates with employeesof company and execute their roles and duties in correct mode. This is help the organisation inmaintaining security concerns of data and other necessary elements of data. There are variousmethod in which information technologies function for achieving its objectives. Theses aredetermined below:Planning: Planning is very important aspect for every organisation in order to achievegoals of an organisation. Information technology is responsible for planning strategies whichhelps in achieving goals and objectives of company. The IT mangers of Marriott, helps in
providing better quality of services to their potential customer. Thus it responsibilities of ITdivision to plan user friendly software and customer facilitates that help them to maintain greatcustomer loyalty. Moreover, IT division of respective company help in managing function suchas outsourcing management and additional capacity from external sources. Some of the softwarewhich are most commonly used by the organisation are Microsoft project, Planner, Smartsheet,etc. which helps in making certain strategies plans and daily operations of the company.Networking: Information technology help in developing network which help ineffective communication and collaboration in an organisation\. It help IT manager to useadequate tool which help to maintain effective flow of organisation both in internal and externalworkplace. It also help managers of Marriott, to provide a efficient plant from to its employeesand staff for developing effective mode of communication without and disturbance in theirworking criteria (Eason, 2014). Moreover, it also help managers to to maintain other factor suchas supply chain management, its customers and stakeholders for their organisation. Uptime,Cisco IOS, etc. are the most commonly used software which assist in networking activities of thecompany.Data management: Data management helps mangers to operate data of an organisationsuch as employees, staff and other aspects of organisation. It also help managers to maintainother data which effective help performing function of organisation. Information technology helpmanager of Marriott to maintain sales record, customer record as well as current and pasttransaction of company. From this data record managers effectively provides clear view of theircurrent and day to day transaction. Moreover, it also help employees and staff in achieving goalsand objectives of an organisation in a correct manner. Some of the IT system software used fordata management are SAS, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Access, etc.Security: Safety and security are essential for a customer. It also help an organisation insecuring data and information by practising security connection which are lined with differentdivision and function of an organisation. The IT managers of Marriott has implemented varioussecurity for their customer and minimising risk of their organisation, in order to maintaincustomer loyalty and retention.
