CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION(500) Brief and overview of research Globalisation refers to a procedure of trading commodities of a company across national boundaries. It provides various ways through which organisations can easily expand their businesses at international market and gain advantages to earn competence. But it creates intense competition as well that assist firms to develop effective strategies, before moving business at global platform(Agnew, 2017). In context with retail industry, globalisation of businesses has enhance the customers demands more as they expect to get highly efficient services. Therefore, due to globalisation, such demand of customers raise more high competition that pressurise retailers to deliver products and services in best manner. The present research is going to make an investigation on positive impact of globalisation on retailers. For this purpose, TESCO has been chosen that deals in retail sectors and operate business in many countries. It is a multinational retailer which deals in general merchandise and having its headquarter in UK. It deals in several product categories like Books, electronics, clothing, toys, furniture, financial services etc. TESCO has expanded its business over several geographical regions throughout world and as a result of which it get economical, cultural and several other benefits through its globalised operations(Amin, 2014). This is because, TESCO focuses more toward customer satisfaction and fulfilling their demand, as a result of which company become able to mark its success globally and get economical as well as expansion related benefit throughout its efforts. This has made TESCO a third largest retailer around the world. Research Aim ''To outline positive economic, cultural and ethical impact of globalisation on TESCO's business operations. Rationale of research The main aim behind conducting investigation over “To outline positive economic, cultural and ethical impact of globalisation on TESCO's business operations.” is that it help in determining the benefits that company get after its global expansion. In addition to this it also help in determining several issues as well as challenges that company face at global market and ways through which it overcome and mark its success globally. Apart from this it also help researchers in enhancing theirskills and knowledge about the concept of globalisation and several tools and techniques which are basically used to conduct investigations effectively. This will further support in performing future investigations effectively(Benyon and Dunkerley, 2014). Despite of this data gathered throughout the investigation can also used for educational purpose that help in enhancing the knowledge of students regrading the ways in which business operate at global level by taking real life example. Activities and timeline This section consists of an overview regarding the number of activities that are to be undertaken throughout the investigation along with the time required by them to cover all these activities as per given period of research accomplishment(Crane and Matten, 2016). The main reason behind using this is to develop a theoretical base for current investigation so that I can further expand over established fact and determining the nature of investigation.

Globalisation is consider as manifest within the growth and development of world trade as proportion of output. It is basically concern with the concept of business expansion over several geographical regions in order to increase market share, customer base and availing several opportunities present at global market that help in achieving competitive advantage throughout the world(Papastergiadis, 2018). This help in enhancing the quality of services offered by companies as globalisation of business also leads to integration of culture as well as practices adopted by companies to cater the need of customer over several geographical area. This in turn help in improving the operations of a particular company that entered into new market getting involve within the culture of that particular area. In addition to this expansion of business help a company to gain economical, cultural and social benefit which further contribute toward enhancing the profitability of business at global market. Apart from all these benefits there are several challenges which an organisation has to face while internationalising its business operations such as economical, legal, cultural differences etc. that may affect business operations. Positive economic impact of globalisation on retail business operations As per the view point ofEnloe, 2016, globalisation help in improving the performance as well as market approach of an organisation which in turn help in providing economical benefit to company. There are severalways through which an organisation get economical benefit throughout the world as globalisation support a company in availing several opportunities present at global level which in turn help in growth as well as development of organisation. TESCO is well known international brand which operates its supermarket chain throughout the world that help it a lot in expanding its business and achieving greater success as well as economical benefit throughout the world(Ritzer and Dean, 2015). With global expansion, TESCO become able to enhancing its brand image throughout the world that help in enhancing its economical base as people prefer to purchase items from a trustable and reliable place. The high quality services it offers and goodwill company maintain helps a lot in its expansion at
global market. In addition to this, global expansion also increased the capital of the company as through internationalisation it become able to enhance its customer base and market which in turn increase the sales as well as profitability(Hirst, Thompson and Bromley, 2015). With the help of this global expansion TESCO also become able to attract large number of investors throughout the world that help it in providing a greater economical benefit for operating its business effectively. According to the view point ofEriksen, 2014,globalisation bring up several challenges in front of an organisation while it enter in to a new market which not affect the operations but also influence its brand image and profitability at large. TESCO also faced several issues throughout its business expansion in term of economical, ethical and cultural perspective as each country is different in term of its factors. This is because there is a cultural difference at several geographical region which affect the operations performed by company as with the changes in culture the need and expectation of customers also get change which affect the profitability of business(Hawkesworth, 2018). On the other side cultural difference also have an huge influence over the working style of employees which affect the overall performance of company. Apart from this, a company has to face economic issues while entering into overseas market. This is because for performing operations in another country TESCO has to pay off several tariffs and other taxes related to trade. CHAPTER 3: RESEARCH METHODOLOGY 3.1 Research Approach Research methodology is consider as one of the most essential part of an organisation which work toward explaining several toolsand technique that areused throughout the investigation in order to collect, evaluate and interpret the information(af Wåhlberg, 2017). This help in presenting the gathered information in more effective manner which further contribute toward exerting the conclusion more appropriately. Quantitative method is used to gather statical information to represent the accurate fact or figure regarding particular reason behind an occurrence of event. For conducting this investigation, qualitative method will be used. Research Approach:-It is defined as assumptions that are used to collect and analyse data which further support in forming hypothesis to address problem. The research approaches are of two type named as deductive and inductive. In deductive approach hypothesis are basically created as per existing theory over which research strategy get formulated. On other side inductive approach focuses over creating new theory which get emerged through collected information. For this investigation inductive approach will be used as it relay over qualitative data.
Research Design:-It is one of the most essential part of investigation which support in directing the conduction of research actions in appropriate manner. Research designs are of three types descriptive, exploratory and experimental design(Brannen, 2017). This report is performed over descriptive research design because it is one of the most essential tools of qualitative research which provide a descriptive analysis over particular study. Research Philosophy:-It is refers to a concept that provide knowledge regarding the sources through which information will be gathered and manage in systematic manner. These are of three types such as positivism, pragmatist and interpretivism. In order conduct this research, interpretivism philosophy will be used which help in enhancing subjective knowledge about current topic. Time horizon:-This section represent the time required for completion of research activities in effective manner with the help of tool named as Gantt chart. Itis one of the most popular method that illustrates a project schedule(Flick, 2015).The task which are need to performed are mentioned on vertical axis and time intervals on horizontal axis. Each activity is represented by the bar, the length of bar reflects the start date, duration and end date of the activity. 3.2 Methodology Sampling:It refers to selecting a sample size from population . There are two methods of selecting sampling i.e. probabilistic and non probabilistic(Kumar, 2019). In order to conduct present investigation, random sampling method from non probabilistic method is used and sample size of 25 employees has been taken. Data analysis:-While conducting research, there is requirement of some information which makes research authentic and reliable. Data analysis is the method of investigation, gathering and collection of data in appropriate manner. Data analysis is important because interpretationwill be done on this basis. In this research, thematic approach is used for data analysis(Ledford and Gast, 2018). Thematic approach refers to the way in which brief information is provided about questions. This helps reader to understand what is asked and they are able to understand concept of whole question. Ethical consideration:While conducting investigation, ethical consideration is very important and personal and confidential information must not be be present infront of
others. It must try to present the information which is accurate and should not manipulate the information to make researcher more attractive. It should be both time as well as cost effective. Research budget:In order to conduct research properly and effectively there is a requirement of some of the sources such as internet, computer so that information is gathered in an effective manner. For this research, estimated budget is kept at£650. CHAPTER 4: DATA INTERPRETATION 4.1 Data collection It is the process of collecting data and drawing meaningful conclusion. There are two methods of collecting the data namely Primary and secondary data(Litosseliti, 2018). Primary data refers to the information which is fresh and new and is collected for the first time. The main focus of retail player toward globalisation is that it benefited them with expansion of business, economical profit, brining new innovation etc. Apart from this it has been found that majority of people are aware about the concept of globalisation and its impact over retail industry alongside the benefit which it provides. But apart from all this, there are certain challenges which a retailer has to face at global market such as Changing demand of customers, Managing supply chain management and Intense competition. Hence, in order to overcome this issue must perform proper planning for supply chain, adhere to international law and perform ethical practices to creative its positive image in marketplace. 5.2 Recommendation There are number of challenges that TESCO have to face while entering into global market and in order to overcome this following recommendation can be take: It can perform a deep study over the cultural practices and customer expectation toward retailer regarding the potential country this help in forming up strategies that support in dealing with issues present in new market. It may focuses toward integrating the culture of new country with organisational practices by hiring employees from the country to which it is entering. TESCO must deeply study the political as well as legal environment of country to which it want to enter for avoiding risk of operations.
CHAPTER 6: PERSONAL REFLECTION STATEMENT(200) 6.1 Research methods used in project For conducting this investigation I had used both primary as well as secondary data collection method. Here, for primary I have used questionnaire and take review from 25 employees and on other side for secondary data I have used literature review. Apart from this to collect information in detailed manner I have used qualitative data collection method. In addition to this for representing this information I have used interpretivism philosophy. 6.2 Research methods that could be used In order to conduct this investigation I have used questionnaire as a tool sue to lack of time and budget. But for an alternative purpose interview can also be used to gather primary information which help in getting data in more detailed manner as it involve open ended questions. 6.3 Area of further research Throughout this investigation I become able to enhance my skills and knowledge which help in performing investigation in more effective manner. In future when I again get chance to perform research over this I would be able to conduct it more effectively by making appropriate utilisation of my knowledge regarding tools & techniques of research.
