PURPOSE OF THE RESEARCHIn modern era, recruitment and selection play very important role in success oforganization. Further every company strives to hire highly skilled and productive humanresources so that its goal and objectives can be achieved easily. The purpose of this study will beto determine the role of recruitment and selection in succession planing of companies. Theprocess of hiring best candidate for the vacant position in organization is termed as successionplanning (Durst and Wilhelm, 2012). The competition among businesses in every sector hasbecome so intense that it is not so easy for them to gain competitive advantage over other marketplayers. The main reason behind selecting this topic is that it will help in determine the role andsignificance of recruitment and selection in organization. It has been also observed thatsuccession planning is a systematic approach using which potential successors are developed in acompany based on their strengths. This assist in increasing overall productivity and effectivenessof an organization.Other than this, the practices of succession planning helps in identification anddevelopment of talent pool in order to meet the future needs of businesses (Succession planningand management guide, 2008). This results in enhancing the core competencies of companiesand thus, provide them with competitive advantage. It has been observed that recruitment andselection plays a very important role in succession planning. In addition to this, successionplanning can be deified as the process in which companies train and develop people withinorganizations to fill their key positions. Therefore, this topic will help in understanding thevarious aspects of succession planning within organizations. In modern era, the main problem isthat some of the companies are not aware about the value of human resources. Further they arealso unaware regarding the role and importance of succession planning in organization. Thus,this study will help in getting aware both the above stated topics.
