INTRODUCTIONLeadership refers to the efficiency of organizations management to make fruitfuldecisions and encourage members to give their best performance. It can be regarded asimportant process through which top executives or managers of entity inspire the organizationalmembers to attain the strategic goals of business (Wei and Johnson, 2014). Leadership play aimportant role in facilitating change within organization and avoiding issues of change resistanceamong members. On the other hand, change management is a formal process of introducingchange in business, using a organized concept and employing knowledge and strategies. It isimportant process that help employees in accepting new processes, beliefs, techniques, systemand structure. Therefore, change process help in transforming the present way of working ofpeople to the craved way of doing things (Chapman, 2012). In this context, mangers use theirleadership ability to understand members that change is important for business as well asemployees. Therefore, leadership encourage individuals to accept challenges and foster newmodifications in working pattern, techniques etc. It further develop enthusiasm in entity duringthe period of challenges or hard changes. The organizational members are stimulated bymanagement of company to give their performance beyond their potential through exercisingvarious leadership style. Also, leaders use their skills in avoiding conflicts arising within variousteams, divisions or members. Broadly, there are three types of leadership style that can be used by management toinfluence change, autocratic, democratic and transformational. In autocratic leadership style, thedecisions are taken solely by manager without involvement of others. Therefore, changes areimposed upon members and they have to accept it. On the other hand, in democratic leadershipstyle, manger seek suggestions, opinion, feedback of members on various aspects and thereaftermake final decision (Leadership styles, 2016). Therefore, manger discuss the changes they arelikely to introduce in business and assure consent of members by encouraging and motivatingthem. Hence, members willingly contribute to the change process as they are part of decisionprocess and know the significance of such alteration in business and their career lives as well.Further, transformational leadership is a best style that can be used by management to facilitatechange. Therefore, it enable managers to set challenges and inspire members to accept thechanges. Therefore, the perception and needs of organizational members are redirected through3

transformational leadership style. Other than this, transactional leadership style can also beconsidered which help management in using rewards or punishments. Therefore, manger canmonitor the change management process and reward members who give their best performanceafter the modification process. However, there are certain traits that must be present within aleader so that he/she can effectively encourage employees (Bolman and Deal, 2014). Therefore,leader must have enthusiasm, confidence, emotional stability, conscientiousness, charisma,honesty, creativity and openness to experience new things and various other traits so that leadercan use them to encourage others. Change management is important and constant procedure of aligning a business with itsmarket. It also help company in responding more promptly and effectively than its rivals. Itfurther help in bridging the gap between present state and perceived one where business want toreach. Therefore, company can attain its strategical goals by introducing change when required.However, it has been identified by the studies conducted by Harvard business review in 2006that 76% of change initiative could not be attained due to high resistance from employees. Itother factors that prevent change are communication barriers, staff turnover during changeprocess etc (Paton and McCalman, 2008). Therefore, it can be stated that leadership power canbe used by management for reducing gap between management and employees. This further helpin strengthening communication process within company. Thereafter, leader can use itsstimulating power and exercise employee engagement within entity to induce competentmembers to stay within the enterprise. Most importantly, leadership can be used to influencemembers regarding change. Overall, it can be stated that leadership play a important role infacilitating change. In the present report, various aspects of change management and leadership will bestudied in the context of Ryanair Ltd. It is renowned company working in aviation industry since1985 headquartered in Ireland. It is regarded as low cost airline company that operate more than300 Boeing 737-800 next generation aircraft. The Ryanair have fleet size of 326 and provide itscost effective services in around 192 destinations (About Ryanair, 2016). The vision of companyis to become leading airline company of Europe that renders its air travel services at lowestpossible fares by doing continuous modifications in techniques and operating efficiencies.
