1. Through observation of children’s activities the educators gain insight into the
children’s thinking, understanding as well as gain knowledge about child skills which
helps the educator to work on the children’s in their weak areas.

Sensorimotor (0 to 2 years)- During this stage the toddlers and infant acquire knowledge
through sensory or manipulating objects. The indicator includes reflexes, senses as well as
motor responses. It includes that the children's start exploring the difference between
themselves and their surrounding.
Preoperational (2 to 7 years)- The four indicators of this stages of child development are ego
centrism, centration, conservation as well as symbolic representation. In this stage the
children's start engaging in symbolic play as well as start learning to handle symbols.
