INTRODUCTION
In health care centre it is necessary to reduce clinical waste so that environment is protected.
This require proper and effective planning and management. For that management and
leadership theories are applied. Through that manager and leader play significant role in it. They
manage and handle all types of health care services (Abdo, Hamza and Al-Fadhli, 2019).
However, with change in situation it is essential to apply different leadership or management
concept. Usually, classical management theory is applied in order to implement change. By using
those styles it becomes easy to maintain quality of health care services as well.
This essay will describe about various types of leadership and management theories which
can be applied manage clinical waste. Moreover, it will be explained about several management
concept as well.

Critical discussion of leadership and management theories required to ensure the successful
implementation of clinical waste management
Clinical waste refers to the type of waste that is generated in health care. It includes
different types of waste such as needles, chemical waste, syringe, etc. this waste can highly
impact on environment. Moreover, waste has to be disposed in such a way that environment is
least impacted. Thus, it requires to separate waste and dispose it accordingly. It has been
analysed that as waste is generated from various departments it has to be properly managed. In
that it requires proper leadership and management (Al Razib, Hasan and Mondal, 2017). The
manager and leader develop plan and policies in which guidelines are mentioned. These
guidelines provide direction to staff on how to manage waste in proper way so that it can be
reduced. Furthermore, leader applies various leadership styles. On contrary manager apply
management concepts in it.
Alongside, waste management can be applied by bringing change. Thus, leadership style
enables in implementing change in effective way. As said by Ali, Ijaz and Randhawa, 2017,
there are different management concept that can be applied in it. The concepts bring change in
some areas of management. Hence, on basis of that decision are taken by management and
planning is done. So, theories are described as below: (Types of Management styles, 2019)
Classical management – the concept of this management is that employee can be trained to work
together. Here, efficient decisions are taken by top management regarding forming of policies
