1COMPENSATION PACKAGE
Recently I have been appointed as the Vice president of the HR department of the reputed
organization of McKesson company. The company is one of the most leading medical suppliers
in the country. On my joining, the first need I was felt was of an assistant secretary who will be
responsible for the primary screening in the process of staffing. McKesson being one of the
reputed companies attract a pool of applicant every week. The duty of the assistant to the
secretary to HR will be to primarily screen the applicants and chose the most suitable one for the
interview. It is primarily the duty of the assistant to HR to make the applicant interested about
the company. Thus, one of the major man specifications for the post is that of good
communication skills. Since it is the duty of the HR assistant to screen the candidates, primary
knowledge about staffing is a must. Thus, when I was told to create a compensation and benefit
plans for appointing a new member for the designation, which is also new, I had to consider the
job description of the post. It is to be understood that the assistant to the HR is reqired to have
some of the competencies in the verbal as well as written communication. Thus, the job will
require at least a high school graduate or diploma holder. The candidate is required to have
knowledge in calendaring skills and orientation skills as he should be the one who will be
responsible for scheduling the programs and the primary orientation and on boarding of the
newly joined employees.
Considering the factor, the fixed pay that was designed for the post was of $42,00 per
annum. This was done keeping in mind the pay structure of the other organizations from the
same company. This competitive structure will help McKesson t attract a large pool of applicants
and retaining them (Feraro-Banta & Al Shaikh, 2017).. The retention plan also includes the
inclusion of the incentive and the benefits structure for the employees.
