INTRODUCTIONConference and banquet management is an execution of an event for a particularpurpose either for family function or for professional conference. This mainly constitutesformulation of plan, organizing, recruitment of the right personnel, leading, monitoring andcontrolling all the activities which helps in proper execution of the plan. This study will highlight, the size and scope of the hospitality industry in the UnitedKingdom. It will also critically evaluate the various factors which influence the developmentand growth of the hospitality industry. It will also include, key operational issues in theConference and banquet management. This study will also evaluate the quality andperformance review tools which are used in the hospitality industry. Furthermore, it will alsoevaluate the food service and production system. It will furthermore, comprehend theergonomic consideration for conference and banquet management. LO 11.1 Size and scope of the hospitality industry. Hospitality industry is one of the third largest industry who is generating high revenueand profits and helps in economic growth of the UK. Hospitality industry has very wide scope in the future and will focus on delivering the best services to the customers. The hospitality industry is categorized into two groups which mainly comprises of banqueting andmanagement sector (Gruenfeldova, Domijan, and Walsh, 2019). Conference event mainly provide services for meeting, official events, formal events and professional seminars, etc. Onthe contrary, banquet facility mainly focuses on providing effective services for the family function and various other informal parties and celebrations. The scope of the hospitality industry is very wide and industry will continue to grow in the future. The hospitality industry is one of the largest industry and has huge growth in term of employment prospects. The hospitality industry key sectors mainly constitutes restaurants, pubs, bars, hotel, club, food service sector, banquet and event management sector, etc. In the year 2018, hospitality industry accounted for 3.2 million job in UK through direct employment and around 28. Million jobs indirectly. Furthermore, the hospitality industry has generated approximately £72 billion of GVA directly and £ 86 billion indirectly for the economy of UK. The hospitality industry is growing and steadily growing at the rate of 6% from the past 5 years and has net worth of around £ 100 billion in the year 2018 (UK HOSPITALITY SECTOR
