INTRODUCTIONA planned event of any occasion at a place of the event sectors in the hospitality industryare known as conferences. They basically conduct meetings, conferences or exhibition that alsoconsists of banqueting and catering. The division is mostly between two groups known asbanqueting and conferences. When the provided space is for business purpose are known asconferences events(Davis and Pantelidis, 2018). Whereas, the customers who celebrate anyfestival or occasion at the place are banquet events. As a manager of a catering company the“Service on a Plate”, our company provide catering services for various events, conferences andbanqueting. This report covers banqueting and conferencing research of the hospitality sector.Further it will show its sizing and scope in the UK and how it is important for growing anddevelopment of the hospitality industry, also factors that are influencing its development. Andlastly it will cover the performance and various techniques used by conferences. TASK 11.1 The size and scope of the conference and banqueting industry in the UK Conference events are conducted for the purpose of businesses or for training and theyconcentrate on technology and training equipments. People or attendees attending theseconferences are from outer general area and here accommodation demand is more as comparedto banqueting. Banqueting events are for celebrating occasions and enjoyments and are focusedon food and drinks. The industry of events is basically an industry which is spread globally, where events areheld every day. Many cities are conducting conference and celebrating events on a large scalethat attract many domestic and international delegations. Many benefits such as employment,tourism, promotion and economic growth are provided by conducting these events. Venueswhere these events can be held include restaurants, functional rooms, church halls, conferencehalls and community centre(Berners, 2018). As a manager of a catering company Service on aPlate, they provide catering services for various events, conferences and banqueting. Recently,many efforts have been made to determine the size and scope of the conference and banquetingindustry. The Meta analytic research identified that these banqueting and conference eventsmainly deal with business meetings, festivity, trade fairs, outdoor events etc. 1

Following are the growing of the UK events, is up to 24,000 with the manpower of up to540'000 workers. Further, the scope of banqueting determines to fulfil and deliver betterservices, which focus more on celebration, bringing a group of people together for a particularevent. These events scope is to provide various benefits and advantages for destinations. Themarket has been estimated to be 18.8 billion Euros to UK economy, which also includes thespendings of money at various occasions. There are about approximately 6,660 conferences andbanqueting venues in UK that work with the entire major hotels such as Hilton, Marriott, etc. andthere are approximately 9.002,053 meeting rooms across UK(Rahimi, 2017). 1.2 Analyse the factors affecting its developmentThe different factors, which are responsible for events of banqueting and conferencesectors includes service facility, competition, food, technology and entertainment etc. and areknown as internal factors. Factors affecting the development of conference and banqueting in hospitality industry are:- Political factors: - this factor has a direct striking on conference and banquetingbusiness. It is very essential to maintain a healthy relation with these political leaders forbusiness goodwill. The instability of political factors may lead to unorganizedconferences. Public will have anxiety to attend conferences and there will be increase inthe price of essential products required for it Economic factors: - Gross Domestic Product rate and the condition of the economy ishighly influencing factor to heighten any business in a country.
