INTRODUCTION In this report, there are a brief description about the hospitality industry in UK. This industry is the key of each sector. It provides many services like light refreshments, food, accommodation, house keeping and many more things (Neirotti, Raguseo and Paolucci, 2016). In other words it refers as hotels, restaurants, bar or such businesses that provides short time period lodging with or without food. In this report firstly conclude the scale, scope and diversity of the hospitality industry. Further, it contains the roles, responsibilities and qualification requirements forhospitalitystaff.ItcompleteswithAnimpactanalysisforthepredictedtrendsand developments. TASK 1 1.1Analysis the current scale, scope and diversity of the hospitality industry. Hospitality industry is a vast sector that provides products as well as services of food, accommodation, entertainment and many more. This industry provides support various sectors and it includes restaurants and hotels (Mejia, Phelan and Aday, 2015). It is giving various types of services like drink, food, security and housekeeping. In this segment, there are businesses like travel,education,corporatehospitality,retail,healthcare,localauthority,government provisions, concert and sports events and leisure venues. Size – The size of this industry can be understood as it contributes to 6.5 trillion Dollars. In the UK, its share is 11% in their GDP. There are above 130000 restaurants and cafes in UK. In food sector,therearemorethan25000jobsgeneratedeveryyear.Inhotels150000andin accommodation field 25000 jobs generates. Ownership types – In hospitality industry, major types of ownership are as follows: 1.Contract– In this sector, the main ownership is based on contract basis. In this contract, there are two and more than two parties (Fong and et.al., 2016). They come into an agreement which can be financial and non-financial in terms of business. 2.Partnership– In the partnership, there are two or more than two individuals or entities come into a contract. This contract's main purpose is trade and all activities are related to money, labour and skills. 3.Leasing –In leasing, ownership depends on money that is paid to the main owner by the person who wants to use that owner's property. 1
4.Franchising– In this type of ownership, the name is used by other person and for this purpose, he pay some amount of money or kind to that person. M2 : In the UK’s hospitality industry, there is a well-known famous that is Marriott Hotel. It is a five star hotel which provides luxury services. It was found by Alice and J. Willard Marriott in the year 1927. It has more than 4000 hotels across the world (Ruetzler and et.al., 2014). It provides various types of services like social events, meetings and packages. In its company's products it included the Hotels and Resorts that are generates revenue is 23 billion dollar and net income is approx. 1.37 billion dollars. 2

1.2 discussion about the organizational structure of Marriott Hotel. In organisational structure, there are different types of posts which are earlier defined and on that, there is a person posted on that positions. The organisational structure of hotel Marriott consists of a general manager and in this, there is an assistant manager or executive assistant manager (Wang and Tsai, 2014). Those managers control the organization and increase growth. In Hotel Marriott there are a unique organizational structure. In its structural dimensions, there are five types of structures that are Formalization, Specialization, Centralization, Personal Ratio and Hierarchy of Authority. 1.3 The role of hospitality related organizations and professional bodies. In this context, the research is about the role of organizations which relates to hospitality industry in UK. This industry is very vast and growing industry. of people are working in it. There are various number of the organizations related to hospitality industry and it increases year by year (Sonmez and et.al., 2016). The main objectives of these firms are same such as designing, implementing and monitoring the public policies and designing the strategies within the tourism and hospitality industry. In these objectives, it is included the co-ordination between vertically and horizontally at the different levels of the industry. It organizes different type of funding policies and benefit services. In types of such organizations, the industry is categorised as government and non-governmental organizations, social and environmental organizations, state sponsored economic agencies. The important role of these organizations is recognised as sub national, trans territorial and super national lines because it is changing nature of industry. Role of different businesses in hospitality industry :there are many organizations which run and operates in this sector. Here, discussion about some major businesses : Hotel and Accommodation –it is a business sector which provides many services like stay, food, house keeping etc. (Kim, Choi and Li, 2016). It needs to check the operations that provide a quality experience to the customers during their staying period. Food Service –it is an essential position and its main objective is to satisfy the customers. So for this purpose the food service manager need a training program and required skilled and disciplined employees for this food service management. Travel Agents –they have a wide range of responsibilities like plan their customer's trips, entertaining them and organise their transportation in perfect manner. TASK 2 2.1 Analysis of the staffing requirements of different hospitality businesses. Staffing is known as the process of acquiring, retaining and deploying of the proper quality and quantity of the manpower. Its main purpose is to create the positive impact on the effectiveness and satisfaction of the company. This industry is a labour oriented business and it has many job roles in a wide range of sectors (Stansbie, Nash and Chang, 2016). There are many issues regarding the staffing within industry. The main issue is to provide the best possible personal services. According to the world Travel and Tourism Council, it estimates that there are many positions in this sector. There are also big opportunities for youth, women and semi-skilled 4
people. In the UK, there are approximately 7% of the manpower are works in this hospitality industry. It means every 14 working person in UK is employed in this industry. In this industry, jobs are raising condition and it is an opportunity because of shortage in labour and skills that are important for this purpose (Kim, Choi and Li, 2016). There are number of ageing people who travel and it is increasing. The major features of the job roles in this industry are given as below: ď‚·There are no aspirations for company's employee because majority of job opportunities are not permanent. ď‚·This sector is denied by the young people and women. ď‚·People preferred comforts in terms of their special life conditions and in this sector most of the job roles are flexible in working hours and arrangements. ď‚·This sector is low qualified sector and low rate in majority of seasonal job. ď‚·It has a rigid structure that occupational with traditions in terms of job roles and services. ď‚·This industry relies on a big percentage of workers (Neirotti, Raguseo and Paolucci, 2016). Although, this is growing industry but there are few demerits of the different job roles. For example there are low wages provides to the man power in most of the positions, working hours will be increase like anti social, job roles can be stressful which putting emotional pressures on the employees and they also face a range of health and safety issues within the organization. 2.2 Discussion about the roles, responsibilities and qualification requirements for hospitality staff. The job of the staff member and employees of the hospitality industry is very complex and it has wide range of duties and responsibilities. The main thing is they have proper experiences in this field. They also have qualifications like : ď‚·They are able to complete their work within an agreed time period. ď‚·They work multitask and prioritise effectively (Mejia, Phelan and Aday, 2015). ď‚·They should be able to guide all employees which works under them and give them a positive direction when they deal with customers. ď‚·All staff members understand the needs of the organization in their daily work. ď‚·They show their commitment to organizational policy and standards. 5

the server issue for the expansion of this industry. The manpower of this sector is shrinking so it is the most significant issue and it faced by all over the world. In managerial issues, the major challenge which is being faced by the organizations is developing better profile of the customers. This profile is most important for the success of the service business. It increases the communication activities of that particular organization in this sector. This issue is comes because the diverse nature of the customers. In these days the hotels and organizations try to provide customized and excellent guest services to their customers. As far as the legislative conflicts are describes, for this sector most of them are directed towards the preservation of the environment that are affected through the routine activities of this industry. For this purpose the industry tend to take up so many resources like electricity, water etc. There are many legislative issues which have been applied by the national governments for securingtheseresources.Sotherearemanydifficultiesandchallengesfortherecent developments which affect this industry. 3.2 The current image of the hospitality industry. In this industry there are included food, leisure, beverages and accommodation services for all type of organization. For these services it contains restaurants, hotels, bars. This industry is very optimistic and it expects a better and brighter trend. There are economic landscape is progressing so there will be a change in the new trend that people will now intend to interested in value of travel. There are a big emphasis on content marketing, its main objective is to reach a wider audience. This is the ultimate way to get the word out except the traditional advertising. This industry is grown up by interactive social media platforms, news letters, webinars, e books, engaging blogs and many more things. It will enable to reach brand in minimum time. In addition, now days people give more priorities to direct booking and make their transactions threw online because of fresh contents, frequents, trouble free transaction modes. This will help in imperative to stay ahead of the competition. TASK 4 4.1 Presenting the justified predictions for potential trends and developments in hospitality. In the whole world this industry is one of the most important because it generates billions of dollars and also gives many jobs to their related employees. This industry is very large and it 7
directly and indirectly employs staff in various professions including air travel industry, hotel industry, tourism and other industries. This sector majorly relies on presence of leisure and disposable income of its clients so there are many services in this sector are enjoyed during the leisure time period. This sector is an essential because it is revenue earner in various economies especially those which rely on travel and tourism as a main important source of income of that government. It is very sensitive industry and it depends on political and economic stability of different economies and destinations. There are drastic revenue losses if there are political and economic instability by such economies. So it is important to discuss about this sector in relation to present threats and available opportunities toward future trends. Both are utilized in ascertaining these trends. The implications of such trends in this industry is a short term decline and this allows a long term growth of the industry. This industry has declined recently because there are an adverse effect of financial crunch. In UK there are many interventions 4.2 An impact analysis for the predicted trends and developments. In respect of future trends there are most considerable things are customer service and better facility to them towards the hotel sector of the hospitality industry.
