INTRODUCTION
Leadership is known as the skill and capability of an individual to influence others in
order to achieve targeted goals.(What is Leadership?. 2019) It is the duty of leader to guide its
subordinates for achieving the goals and objectives in a systematic and desirable manner.
Internal and external environment of business can be controlled and managed by using
appropriate leadership and management style(Bates and Robb, 2016). The organisation chosen
for this report is Jaguar Land Rover which is a British multinational luxury car manufacturer.
This file will majorly cover overview and history of Jaguar, leadership and management style for
completing the task in appropriate manner. Recommendation will also be provided so that
organisation can improve its performance and productivity.
MAIN BODY
History, summary and rationale of the selected business.
Jaguar Land Rover designs and manufactures and develops luxurious cars for their
potential customers. Major motive of the organisation is to provide better services to its
customers. The organisation was established in Blackpool, United Kingdom in 1922. Subsidiary
organisations of Jaguar Land Rover are TATA Motors, British Motor Holdings, British Leyland,
etc. There are approximately 40000 employee's working with Jaguar all over the world. Ralf
Speth was appointed as the CEO of the organisation in 2010(JAGUAR LAND ROVER
AUTOMOTIVE PLC. 2018). Jaguar is not only successful in satisfying the need of its customers
in domestic market market but has also performed well in international market. Management of
the organisation is currently planning to launch hybrid and electric vehicles. This will help the
organisation in increasing the sale and profitability within prescribed period of time. Jaguar is
currently one of the top organisation who is manufacturing large number of vehicles in UK. Due
to this organisation is also successful in giving tough competition to its competitors. Plans and
strategies in Jaguar is made according to the current need of its employee's.
The major motive behind selecting this organisation is Jaguar mainly focuses on
increasing the motivation level of its customers and employee's. Plans and strategies are made as
per the demand of potential customers(Biedenbach, 2012). Organisation was successful in
increasing its market share in the international and domestic market within limited period of
time. Auto-mobile is one of the fastest growing sector so by researching in this sector new

information and trend can be easily known. With the help of this research knowledge and skills
of the individual can be easily enhanced and increased. Since the organisation is a leading brand
so its management can easily analyse the need and preference of customers.

Jaguar is one of the biggest auto-mobile organisation which majorly focuses on using
new and innovative techniques for increasing and enhancing the satisfaction level of its
customers. Organisation also aims at providing better services to its employee's so that there are
able to give their best output. With the help of this employee's of Jaguar are motivated to
perform the assigned task in the most desirable manner(Bucchiarone and et. al., 2012).
Leadership style used by Jaguar Land Rover
Every organisation requires appropriate leadership style so that future goals and target
can be achieved in a efficient manner. It is the duty of leader to motive and guides its employee's
so that overall performance of the organisation is increased. With the help of proper leadership
style market share and profitability of Jaguar can be easily increased. Management of Jaguar
aims at using and implementing Democratic leadership style. This style aims at involving the
employee's in the decision making process. This means views and suggestions of employee's for
expanding the business are taken into consideration. Democratic leadership style leads to
increase in motivation level of the individuals(Crane and et. al., 2019). This is because Jaguar
forms and implement strategies keeping in mind the suggestion of its valuable employee's. By
using this leadership style Jaguar also aims at reducing wastage of time and resources of the
organisation. This is because by using this style each and every activity can be easily performed
and goals can be achieved. Equal importance is given to employee's in Jaguar this leads to
enhancement of motivation level and growth of the individuals.
After implementing this democratic style chances of disputes and problems among
employee's can be easily reduced. This is because every individual will be involved in the
decision making process(Dumas and et. al., 2013). So employee's will not feel neglected and
demotivated. Better plans and strategies will be implemented for satisfying the need and demand
of it customers. This is because employee's will put more effort in completing the task in
efficient manner. Better and positive relationship can also be formed among superior and
subordinates of Jaguar. This is because equal opportunities will be given to them within the
organisation(Gierej, 2017).

Management style used by Jaguar Land Rover
Management also plays a very important role in increasing the growth and sustainability
of the organisation. This is because with the help of management every activity can be planned
and organised in a systematic and desirable manner. This includes planning, organising, directing
and controlling activities in order to achieve targeted goals. Management of Jaguar aims at
implementing democratic leadership style for formulating better plans and policies. In this
management style workforce of Jaguar are allowed to get involved in deciding future plans and
actions. Employee's of the organisation are required to suggest logical and reliable ideas for
increasing the business(Gill, 2011). Management of the organisation provides better
opportunities to every employee so that their individual goals are achieved. After gathering
appropriate information from the employee's decision is taken according current need of the
market. By implementing this style skills and capability of the employee's are also increased.
This is because they get new chances to grow in the organisation within limited period of time.
Democratic management style also help the management of Jaguar in improving its
communication process. This is because vital information in the organisation will be transferred
in a systematic and coordinated manner(Giltinane, 2013). Chances of mismanagement and
duplication of work will be reduced because employee's will know how they are supposed to
perform a particular task. Complex task of the organisation can be completed in proper manner
by implementing and using new techniques and strategies. The ideas and suggestions of the
employee's are analysed so that final decision can be taken for the future. It is not necessary that
every idea and views of the employee's is taken into consideration by the management of Jaguar.
This is because decisions are generally taken on the basis of current need and scenario of the
market.

It is very much essential for the organisation to implement appropriate strategies for
reducing chances of risk and error in the internal and external market. These strategies not only
benefits the employer but also helps its employee's in achieving their individual goals within
limited period of time(Gonin, Palazzo and Hoffrage, 2012). The major strategies which are used
by the management of Jaguar Land Rover are discussed below-
Decision making- In context of business it essential for the management of organisation
to make proper decisions so for the future course of action. As making appropriate decisions

performance of the organisation can be easily improved and enhanced. Decision in Jaguar are
taken for the achievement of long and short term goals. Before implementing any decision
proper information is collected from various sources so that better results can be drawn out.
Decisions are also taken on the basis of current and past scenario of the market.
Motivation and rewards- It is quite essential for the company to motivate its employee's
in a systematic and desirable manner(Merugu and et. al., 2013). There are various methods
which cane be used to motivating and encouraging the employee's to perform better. In Jaguar
Land Rover employee's are motivated on regular basis so that they can give their best output.
Rewards and appraisal are also given to them for better work done. This directly lead to
completion of assigned task and reduction in employee's turnover.
Group and team- If appropriate teams and groups are formed in the organisation than
chances of duplication of work can be easily reduced. This is because with the help of effective
teams work can be coordinated and delegated in better manner. Complex and difficult situations
can be overcome easily by the efficient team members of Jaguar Land Rover. Teams and groups
also helps in taking logical decisions for the future course of action. As with the help of teams
market share and sustainability of the organisation can be increased and improved in a efficient
manner(Northouse, 2017).

decisions for the future course of action. In this style advice of each and every individual will be
taken into consideration. This will lead to increase in skills, knowledge and capability of the
employee's. Involving employee's in the decision making process will lead to increase in

introduce a new vehicle than views and ideas of the employee's can be taken into consideration
by the management. As by doing this better plans and polices can be made for increasing the sale
of new vehicle. Employee's will suggest better ways to top management of Jaguar for sustaining
in the market. Democratic leadership and management style will also lead to achievement of
competitive advantage in the market(Teece, 2010). Top management of Jaguar can also focus on

them so that they are able to contribute in the growth and success of Jaguar Land Rover.
Employee's will be become more responsible and loyal towards the organisation and their work.
This is because their preferences and suggestions will be taken into consideration by the top
management of Jaguar. Better relationship among the superior and subordinate can be made by
implementing democratic leadership style(Verba, 2015). This is because superior of the
organisation will be able to solve the disputes and conflicts of its subordinates in the best
possible manner. This can directly lead to achievement of long and short term goals in the
effective and most desirable manner. Tough competition can also be given to the competitors of
Jaguar Land Rover.
RECOMMENDATION
From the above given report it can be recommended that major changes in the leadership
style can be done according to the current situation in the organisation. By doing this employee's
will be satisfied and their performance will be automatically increased. Chances of uncertainty
and risk in the internal and external environment of the organisation can also be easily overcome
by skilled and motivated employee's of Jaguar. Rapid decisions can be taken by involving
experienced individuals of the organisation. By this recommendation the management of Jaguar
will be able to sustain in the market for longer period of time. Organisation will also be able to
achieve its desired goals and target in the best possible manner.
CONCLUSION
From the above given report it has been concluded that management and leadership style
is very much essential for every organisation. As with the help of these theories goals and target
can be achieved within limited period of time. Democratic leadership style helps the
management of organisation in considering the need and views of individuals. This can lead to
