INTRODUCTIONEmotional intelligence can be described as an ability where the person is able tounderstand the emotions that they are feeling and the emotions of others as well. These peoplethen use this knowledge so as to manage their expression of emotion so that it does not become aroadblock in their life (Bar-On, 2010). It is believed that those people who are having high levelof EI are having better understanding about the physical, social and mental impact that negativeimpact have on themselves. These people are able to understand the feeling of others point ofview in an easy manner. This assignment will discuss the competencies of EI in detail which areSelf awareness, Self management, Social awareness and Social skills. TASK 1 – Self AwarenessPART 11.Brief description of the eventSelf can be defined as a situation where a person is aware about the feelings that they arehaving along with their attributes and qualities. In this basically three types of skills are noticedwhich are:Emotional Self AwarenessAccurate Self Assessment Self CertaintyOne situation that happened in my life where I was able to feel so many emotions at thesame time was when my parents decided to get divorced. I consider this as the most memorableevent of my life as my life completely changed after event. I was literally shattered after listeningthis news as my dream of having a happy family broke down. Also, I was feeling so disgustedthat about the fact that I became so busy in my life that I didn't notice the fact that my parents arenot happy in their life. There were so many people who were present on this day and they all were feeing thesame what I was feeling. Nobody wanted this to happen but none could manage to change theirdecision. It was a very emotional moment for my whole family. I was thinking that I will not beable to live with both of them now. 1

2.Application of Gibbs Reflecting Cycle in the reflection providedGibbs reflecting cycle is a model that was designed by professor Graham Gibbs throughwhich he was trying to help people learn from the situations that they may face again in their lifeespecially when it doesn't go well at the first time (Batool, 2013).Source: Gibbs Reflective cycle, 2018If Gibbs reflecting cycle will be applied on my situation then the following things will bedetermined :-2Illustration 1: Gibbs Reflective cycle

a. Description of feelingBefore that I was really happy as I was not aware about what was going in my house andwhat my mother and father are facing in their personal lives. So, I was very normal but on thenext day when I heard that they were getting divorced, in was literally broken and could not dayanything. That feeling was very bad and I was just crying all day. I was having mixed feelings when this situation came into my life as I was feelingsaddened, fear and angry as well. I was literally feeling that all this happened because of me. Iwas very angry about the fact that my parents did not think of me when they took this decisionand fear was that regarding the situation that I will be living with either my mother or my father.When this activity was taking place, all the close family members were present in myhouse and were telling my parents to reconsider their decision as it will have a very bad impacton my life as well as their life. They all were trying to convince my mother by telling her that shewill not be able to live alone or her will be destroyed after this. They were also suggesting thatafter this divorce session, with whom I will live and later on it was decided that I will live withmy mother.b. Reflection on the answersI was having a hope that all this get better soon and my parents will live together againvery soon. It had become fantasy situation for me now. But my mother was very sure about herdecision and was not ready to change it.I was fine with the fact that now they both will live happily but at the same time I washorrified with the fact that I will have to live with one of them only. But my feelings did notchanged their decision. I believe that the way I reacted was very normal and any other child would have reactedin the same way as I was reacting. c. Reflection on how emotions are controlledI controlled my emotions by thinking about my parent's happiness . I thought that myparents should be happy and for that if I have to sacrifice my happiness then I will do it. I alsodecided that no matter if I have to live with my mother but I will still be in contact with myfather. 3
