learned from Part A and Part B.
What are the current competencies of the team? What competencies
do they require for their position?
The following are the current competencies of the team at MacVille:
1. Strong communication skills: The employees of the MacVille have
strong communication skills. This is evident from the feedbacks of the
customers which report that the sales staff members are knowledge
and cooperative with the former. These feedbacks point out to the
strong communication skills of the employees of MacVille.
2. Interdepartmental collaboration: The case study clearly reveals
that the employees of the company exhibited strong
interdepartmental collaboration. This is evident from the
collaboration between Maria and Gino.
The following are the main competencies which the employees of
MacVille need to develop:
1. Meeting deadlines on time: The employees must meet deadlines
on time. For example, Maria should prepare the invoices on time.
2. Innovation: The employees of MacVille should work in innovative
ways to employ their skills.
Create an action plan to close the gap within required timelines. What
program would you use?

How would you present the training strategy? What type of program
or software would you use?
The training strategy would be presented before the management
and employees in a meeting. The software which would be used to
provide the training session would the Microsoft PowerPoint
How will you ensure the strategy stays on track? What monitoring
activities will you use? How will you measure success?
The supervisors would prepare delay report of specific employees to
ensure they meet their deadlines. The daily delay report would be
used to monitor that employees do not miss deadlines. The
successes in achieving deadlines miss reduction would be tracked
from the delay report and would be appreciated.

Review the scenario below
Schedule a time with your trainer to conduct a role-play. Your
trainer will assign or play the role of Maria in the scenario.

You are Maria’s supervisor.
o She has exhausted all sick leave and you suspect this is due to
poor time management and organisational skills.
o Plan a meeting with Maria to discuss workplace learning
opportunities with her.
o Prepare to discuss Maria’s skills and performance.
o Your discussion will be centred on the tasks she performs, her
organisational and time management skills and what you can do
to facilitate improvement of those skills.
o discuss potential learning opportunities and outline how you can
help provide those opportunities to Maria. Opportunities can be
in the form of training, networking, mentoring or coaching.
o You will need to ensure Maria is in agreement and realises the
benefit of those opportunities to her development.
o Discuss options with Maria to provide her with learning
opportunities.
o Ensure you negotiate agreement on timeframes and learning
goals.
During the role-play, your assessor will be assessing:
a. how you engage with Maria (for example, using questioning and
listening skills to determine the type of learning Maria requires,
and how you build a rapport to reach agreement with Maria)
b. how you overcome resistance to training with persistence and
interpersonal skills
c. the conclusions you draw from your conversation and a clear
explanation of how you will help the learning opportunities as
her supervisor
d. the planning processes you will use to ensure success (for
example, how you will implement and monitor learning and
evaluate its success in collaboration with Maria; your ability to
negotiate timeframes for action).
