INTRODUCTION
Leadership style is generally the ways which the leaders use to direct and motivate people
as well as implementing the plans and solutions to a problem. For the effective leadership, one
should have the required traits which will eventually help the subordinates to work with greater
productivity. This report addresses the different leadership styles adopted by the leader, skills
along with the traits which are required in successful leader, self assessment on the type of leader
and its relation to contemporary approaches of leadership, strength as well as weakness of the
leader.

Leadership styles
Leadership style is basically the approach which focuses on providing the right direction,
implementing the plans and thus motivating the people. I use participative leadership style where
I takes into account my subordinate as well as other people views and opinions while making the
decision and solving any problem. Participative leadership style helps me to assess the
knowledge as well as the abilities of people to innovate and thus assist me applying the best
ideas which will bring success in the organization like when I was working in an organization,
the sale of newly launched product declined on a sudden thus I called on a meeting and asked
everyone to give their ideas and suggestions for boosting up the sales and revenue. Thus I
requested everyone to equally participate and offer their innovative ideas (Conger, 2015). This
style eventually helped me gaining the confidence of my subordinates and motivating them on a
great level that ultimately increased their productivity. This has made me aware of the fact that
the opinions from all around brings out the some innovation in the company and made me realize
that engaging the subordinates in each and every problem whether it is big or small generate a
sense of self valuation inside them which eventually decreases the organization turnover.

Honesty
No matter how complex the situation is, I always tries to stick to my values and makes a
commitment to be transparent to all the people. If I make any mistake regarding the work done
by me, then I take full responsibility of to resolve it. I remain committed to my ethics for the
work and remain honest to my team as well.

mistake. Learning the new things gives me a sense of happiness and increases my knowledge
apart from helping me to overcome my mistake. I have the willingness to learn even the minor
things which are outside my area of interest (Antonakis and Day, 2017). This enthusiasm helps
me to solve the problems by considering each and every alternative like when I was under a team
where the project given was outside my subject, then I made the commitment to myself that I
have to learn every aspect of this project no matter what. This eventually helped me grab the
knowledge of various dimensions of that subject.
Skills
Motivation
The most important skill which I have & believe is significant is motivating my team

management. I am able to establish a constant and steady flow of interaction between me and my
team member (Robertson, 2016). Besides this, I believe in active listening which ultimately

sense of self valued within them and also present a great bulk of alternative in front of me
(Rosenbach, 2018). During the peak sales, When my team members was unable to make heavy
sales and meet the sales target, I called for a short meeting where I encouraged my team to give
their individual reason for low sales and also encouraged them to give ideas for increasing it.
This eventually created a pool of suggestions which provided the members with various ways to
enhance their productivity. This relates to the participative as well as democratic leadership style
where the leader makes decision after taking opinions from their personnels. Leaders in both the
scenarios seeks for the mutual benefit which helps themselves as well as others.

As a leader I have so many weaknesses which affect my working condition in the
company. Weakness of the leader stops them to work in optimum level. Some of my weakness as
a leader are.
Time management:As a leader I cannot manage my time according to my work in the company
so time management is my biggest weakness. Many times company faces problems due to some
time issues that I cannot manage my work. Time management is very important in any business
to achieve the specific objective and that is my biggest weaknesses.
Decision making:Lack of proper decision-making is sometimes creates problems between the
employees of the company and also affect in the working condition of the company. As a leader I
have to face lots of problems due to bad decision-making skills of mine.
Conflicts management:In any company it is a duty of the leader to solve the conflicts between
the employees of the company and I lose in this management because I cannot face the fights in
the organization between the workers.
Analytical skills:As a leader I do not have the ability to collect and measure the information and
solve problems related to the work in the company and decision-making of the company. It will
affect the success and growth of the company.

connection with the employees and it disconnects the employees in the future (Mendenhall and

challenge for me because a proper and efficient team leads to the success and achieve objectives
of the company (Komives, 2016). I will take the action to give proper training to team member
so that they could work to achieve the profits. In the company I change the things which are not
going useful for the company productivity and are not useful for the team members.
Environmental obstacles: I face lots of environmental factors which affect my styles of
working as a leader like technology, cultural, economic, political, organizational factors,
characteristics of the staff. To overcome these environmental factors I'll make several actions for
proper and efficiency in performing the leadership roles. The cultural factors show the rules,
regulations, customs, tradition of the company. Social factors relates to the culture of the
customer and market (Martin and et.al., 2017). I can design the products and services according
to the market and customer to overcome the factors. Technology factors is affects because there
is rapid change in the technology. The action I'll take is the research and development to create
the innovation and ideas for making these factors easy.
