Title: To investigate the different factors that affect gender pay gap within business
organization. A study on ASDA.
Background to Research Topic
In an organization, gender pay gap is considered as a crucial issue that directly
affect the performance of company. Along with this, the gender pay gap refers to the
difference among male and female as the gender wage gap. Manager of company have
analysis this inequality in a various methods, but the results all point to the same outcomes:
women regularly earn less than males, and the difference is even bigger with most women
and people of colour. Thus, it is significant for manager of company to promote equality at
working area and also provide equal wages to both male and female workers. This can be
assisting in motivating workers to give their best efforts and at the same time also encourage
them to build a positive relation with each other’s (Unicef, 2019). By this, company can
easily accomplish their targets and improve their productivity level at market place. Present
investigation is based on ASDA, is a famous British supermarket chain that operate their
business worldwide. The main focus of this company is to serve best quality services to its
customers in order to attain competitive edge in market place. In addition to this, company
also focus on promoting equality at working area so that the issue of gender pay gap can be
easily resolved. Promoting equality among all the workers may assist in improving employee
performance that directly contributes on enhancing positive brand image of company at
competitive market place.
Background to Research Organization
ASDA, is a British company which holds a supermarket chain. In the year around
1949 the company was founded by two people named Peter and Fred Asquith & Sir Noel
Stockdale. The company comes under the top supermarkets in United Kingdom, and because
of its appropriate services customers prefer to purchase goods from ASDA. ASDA’s
headquarter is situated in Leeds, England, UK. Currently, the company operates its business
in around 632 locations, majorly deals in grocery, general merchandise, financial services. As
per the stats published in the year 2019, the revenue was approximately £ 22,899.2 million.
However, currently, in 2021 ASDA was acquired by EG Group and TDR Capital in order to
improve the commercial relationship.

Research Rationale
The primary reason of undertaking research is to analyse different factors that affect
gender pay gap within business organization. Basically, current investigation provides vast
information about how gender pay affect employee performance at working area. Along with
this, investigation is also undertaking for researcher personal and professional purpose (Brell,
Dustmann and Preston, 2020). By undertaking present study researcher develop their skills
and knowledge that help investigator in undertaking future research activities along with
more authenticity. Apart from this, it may also assist investigator to improve their career
growth and provide them opportunities to attaining success in their professional purpose.
