Background of Research
Gender equality is concerned with treating men and female staff equally. In an
organization, gender equality is related to attain the equal opportunities and the outcomes for the
each gender. Its main aim is to attain the equal outcomes for the male and female employees.
Equality assures that every employee has access similar opportunities as well as the fair
treatment. ASDA is supermarket retailer in Leeds. This was founded in year 1949 when
supermarket owing through Asquith family that merged with Associated Dairies Company of
Yorkshire. During a lengthy court dispute for fair pay, which could result during retailers
receiving additional £ 8 billion compensation, ASDA’s grocery workers secured a big victory.
The appeal Court has ruled on the decreased wages of female workers at the ASDA Store and the
high pay of male warehouse employees (Assari and Moghani Lankarani, 2018). ASDA reported
that it charges 12.5 percent less for its female workforce than for its male average staff,
attributing the gender gap to the elderly. Retailers estimated that mid-sized difference in salary
between both men and women working in 2017 was 8.9%, better than national average in 18.4%.
Rationale of Research
Present research report is based on determine importance of gender equality Strategies
and their influence on minimizing employee turnover rate. This research is mainly conduct to
know about the effective strategies is company find out to ensuring that gender equality and
workplace because it is helps in minimizing the employee turnover rate of an organization. This
is mainly conduct the investigation from personal and professional contexts. In the personal
context, investigator wants to enhance its knowledge about the gender equality find out the
issues which arising in implementing the strategies of gender equality to reducing the employee
turnover rate (Axelrad and James, 2016). Other than this, the professional context behind
conducting the present investigation is to enhance the analytical as well as the research skills to

performing an investigation in future. Other than this, researcher can able to find out the
effective ways and strategies to conducting the investigation in a systematic manner.
Aim
To identify the importance of gender equality strategies and their impact in reducing high
employee turnover. A study on ASDA.

LITERATURE REVIEW
It is an important form of scholarly text. This involves the existing awareness of
empirical findings and also the methodological as well as theoretical contribution to a specific
topic. However, it provides an overview of a previous study on a subject. It includes books,
documents and several other related sources. The method of gathering in-depth knowledge is a
literature review from various sources such as publications, books, articles, etc. Various authors
offer their views on the subject which allows researchers to gather detailed information.
Identifying differences in the previous research is the main purpose of this section (Biglio, 2020).
Strategies for improving gender equality in context to workplace

As per opinion of Arvind Rongala (2020) Gender equity is recognized as the fundamental
consideration for the success and development of every company in today's diverse corporate
environment. For order to build an equitable and competitive economy, everyone must have an
equal chance of succeeding. There are some strategies used through organization to improve the
gender equality:
Remove gender pay gap- It will only exist is there is positive culture is promoted in
company. New culture of the transparency which also challenges a firm to explore pay gap
between men and women and prevents candidates from asking what they received for their latest
jobs. Each job should then have a paying bracket detailing the remuneration for the function.
Buffer is an excellent example of a company which supports transparency within the
organization and it is a social media management platform.
Considering Leadership Roles equally- It is not correctly believed to be suitable just for
men in leadership positions and women for the protection of positions. The foundation of gender
discrimination in the workplace is such stereotypes. Individuals with appropriate qualities
deserve a leadership role. One perfect way to encourage gender equality is to give candidates
suitable leadership positions, regardless of their gender (Cherry, 2019). With proper recognition
of women in the leadership roles, gender equity in the workforce is strengthened unwittingly, as
more women are working throughout. Furthermore, the large number of leading women should
raise the proportion of women who join due to job opportunities.
Make work/life balance a priority for employees-While investigations have shown that
gender pay gap for the young women is increasing, it has become wider between working
mothers because they are actually paid for their leisure time. The shortage of available childcare
resources is a significant obstacle that currently prevents women from achieving the top of their
careers. Organizations must consider offering to pay for childcare and elderly care, and ensure
that they do not over vend how familiar they are to job seekers if such resources are not
accessible, because this may contribute to disappointment and early departures from the
business.
Strict Policies against Harassment- A strict anti-labor policy like sexual harassment,
sexism, bullying and more is of utmost importance. Company should recognize that they

discipline such crimes strictly. Out of four women are mentally or physically assaulted at
workplace on average. This is duty of the manager to take an early look at these problems to
avoid women being abused. In these cases employers will act as quickly as possible to ensure the
responsible party is disciplined and take the appropriate steps to support the victim in every way
possible (Dipboye, 2016).
Impact of gender equality on employee turnover
As per opinion of Zubair Hassan and Sumaiya Shafiq (2020) the consistency of their
organization's communication environment will affect gender equality. In particular, fair
representation of men and women is required to be preferred and the perception of the internal
world to be improved. Therefore, equal treatment of both genders is expected to result in a
positive environment of communication, although any gender inequalities result to a negative
environment. In addition, the relationship among gender equity perceived and the
communication environment is expected to affect intention to turnover. In addition to this,
gender equality is helpful in reducing the employee turnover rate of an organization. A gender
diversity-enhancing organization can help employee retention and reduce significant costs by
restrict the marketing expense, interview time and administrative work, dismissal pay, new
employee onboard costs etc. Employee turnover is mainly related to number of the employees
which leave form and also replaced through new staff members. Measuring the employee
turnover rate can helpful to managers which want to evaluate the reasons for turnover for also
estimate cost to require for the budget purposes. Developing the positive working environment
and providing the equal opportunities to all the staff members is helpful in sustaining the
employees and also reducing the employee turnover rate. In this, there is no need to company to
hire the new staff members and spend the cost on the providing training to the new employees.
This helps the company to reduce the Recruitment process and training cost to new staff
members in an organization. In order to motivate the staff members there is a need to company to
give better career opportunities as well as give responsibilities to women staff equal to the men.
This helps enhance motivational level and also they can able to focus on performing their job
activities for achieving the set aim and objective through the top management.
The average difference among all the respective women and men working through ASDA
is 7.6 percent. It lowers the overall number of full or part-time employees by 1.3% as compared
