ABSTRACT
The present investigation is concerned with Importance of employee motivation on
organizational performance. Employee motivation is necessary in enhancing the organisation
performance. The aim of current research is to analyse the importance of employee motivation
on organizational performance. There has been survey method considered with quantitative
research method. Using this method is helpful in determine importance of employee motivation
and different ways to motivating staff members within an organisation. Present research is based
on the primary research. In this, questionnaire has been developed to answer research questions
in detailed manner. For analyse the collected data, there has been thematic analysis method
considered in which themes, tables and graphs are created with proper interpretations in detailed
manner. It helps in provide the reliable and valid research outcomes. Findings stated that there is
a positive relation between the employee motivation and organisational performance. Enhancing
the motivation level of employee is helpful in enhance their performance level and sustain them
at workplace for longer time period. This helps in enhance the productivity and reputation of
company. In this investigation, discussion has been based on the literature review that meet with
the research objectives.

CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background to research topic
Motivation can be thought as willingness to expend the energy to attain reward or
objectives. It inspires person for putting in efforts towards achieving organizational objectives.
Employee motivation is explained as commitment, energy level and creativity that staff member
brings to company on daily basis. Motivated staff members are necessary to success of company
as they are productive at workplace. The employee motivation is energy and desire that makes
the people interest continually as well as committed to job (AbdiMohamud, Ibrahim and
Hussein, 2017). It is important for an organization because it makes the improvement in
performance level of staff members and productive. Motivated employees are stay focused and
work productively to meet with the set objectives and obtain rewards they seek. It helps in
enhanced work quality and also productivity that can minimize the company cost. In the present
working environment, company need the motivated staff members and this is the responsibility
of a company to make such kind of policies which can improve performance level of employees.
Company should know strategies to motivate staff members or judge behaviors, emotions and
feelings. In order to motivate the staff members at workplace, it is necessary for company to
understand they how motivation works. Company find out the various ways to motivate
employees for an instance performance appraisal, provide positive working environment, clear
communication and others. Employee motivation helps in improve the performance level of
organization as all staff members can able to work effectively and focus on attaining the set
objectives within given period of time. There is a positive relationship among the employee
motivation and organizational performance. Factors like recognition and empowerment enhance
the employee motivation. If recognition and empowerment of staff members is enhanced, then
their motivation for doing work will have improved and also make improvement in performance
level of staff members (Aguenza and Som, 2018).
1.2 Background to research organization
ASDA is British supermarket chain and headquarter is in Leeds, England. This firm was
founded in year 1949 when Asquith family merged retail business with Associated Dairies
company of the Yorkshire. ASDA offers the financial services and mobile phone provider that

uses EE network. Other than this, ASDA firm provides the general merchandise products, foods
and clothing’s. It became second largest chain in United Kingdom next with Tesco organization.
The main focus of ASDA organization is to provide the high quality of services so that their
needs can be satisfied. This company conducted the focus groups in order to find out what
matters to employee. ASDA used feedback in order to develop the colleague pledges of the
respect, opportunities and fairness at the workplace. This company conducts the training
programs for its staff members to improve the performance level of staff members and lead to
change in the specific skills, behavior and attitudes. If the employee performance will be better
than this will help in enhancing the organizational performance and its productivity level at
marketplace (Aithal and Kumar, 2016).
1.3 Research rationale
The present investigation is related to analyse the importance of employee motivation on
organizational performance. Employee motivation is related to level of commitment and energy
that workers of an organisation. Conducting the present investigation help an investigator in the
personal and professional context. In the personal context, the understanding of a learner
regarding employee motivation and organisation functions in detailed manner. This helps a
learner to get the knowledge regarding the related concepts in detailed manner. In the
professional context, researcher can be aware about getting the information regarding the
employee motivation. In this present business environment, employee motivation is one of the
main factor. It directly impacts on organisational performance (Al Khajeh, 2018). Conducting
the present investigation is helpful for learner to find out the ways to motivate staff members and
the factors affecting on the employee motivation within an organisation.

Selecting research question is necessary component of qualitative and quantitative investigation.
The research question takes beyond simple facts regarding importance of employee motivation

organizational performance.” A study on ASDA.

2.1 Introduction of literature review
Literature review analyses and discusses the published information in specific subject area.
This is more than summary of sources, this has organizational pattern that combines synthesis
and summary both. It provides solid background for conducting an investigation. The main
purpose of literature review is to gain the understanding of existing investigation to specific
subject area (Beltrán-Martín and Bou-Llusar, 2018). Conducting literature review is helpful in
develop knowledge in area. The literature review is basically conducted on analyses the
importance of employee motivation on organizational performance. To collect the information in
literature review, there has been secondary method of data collection considered. Information has
been collected by using the different sources for an instance articles, scholars, journals and
others.

On the basis of John Dudovskiy (2021) it has been stated that employee motivation is
explained as the commitment and enthusiasm that a staff member brings to a company on daily
basis. This is all about engage employee feels in the tandem to objectives of an organization. The
motivation is dynamic organizational behavior that received high attention from the management
thinkers in all over the world. Main objective of an organization is to enhance the productivity
level and reputation of an organization. The motivation enhances trust of staff members within
an organization. Staff members feel more appreciated and work with increased enthusiasm that
leads to better loyalty as well as productivity. This has been stated that motivated staff member is
productive for company. Attention is necessary from organizational management in order to see
that staff members of company remains motivated. Management that attain success in this
assures better performance of business (Bhatti and et. al., 2016). The motivation of staff
members is at all the level is necessary function of the management. The employee motivation
leads to safe and healthy practices within an organization. Staff members concentrate on job
more, put efforts and do not waste time in the non- productive activities. They enjoy job and get
happiness feeling as well as satisfaction while working on job. It results into more attention of
staff members towards work that leads to make improvement in output and work quality. The
