INTRODUCTION
Learning is one of the most important and core parts of child’s growth and development.
It is extremely important to assess strengths of child, areas to be developed for understanding
ways in which a child can be made to learn new things or changes (Pieng & Okamoto, 2020).
This assessment is based upon a dramatized parent interview between Melissa Kemp & Chloe
Judd about a child Noah who is required different kinds of training for moving from kindergarten
to school and one of those is toilet training. In this assessment critique of dramatized parent
interview will be done and development of child centred assessment will be done.
MAIN BODY
Critique of dramatized parent interviews
The description of the child
Description of Noah throughout the interview had focused upon him being a creative,
social intelligent, fair child. He is an extremely confident child and loves to plan ahead and
organize himself. He loves exploring new things and always finds new things to play with. As
per the interviewee he is an extremely creative child and loves to dramatize like plays with
imaginary zombies etc. Discussion in interview further helped in identifying that Noah loves
reading books and loves to borrow new books for reading but is a but slow in his toilet training.
He is still required to learn a lot of things in terms of his toilet training. For this, Melissa did
suggest about educators providing education about toilet training, hygiene practices.
Strength based authentic assessment – philosophy and tools
During the interview it was clearly that they interviewer (Melissa) did gather all kinds of
qualitative data about current toilet training of Noah. For toilet training of Noah she was focusing
upon using strength based training and assessment method. She was trying to gather current
situation about toilet training of Noah by exploring his weaknesses, strengths. During this
interview Melissa was trying to gather likes, dislikes, strengths and weaknesses of Noah and was
further trying to give suggestions on ways in which they can help his mother in providing toilet
training to Noah such as getting educators for providing knowledge about use of toilet thought
the day.
Knowledge of the whole child, including emerging development/interests
On the basis of assessment, it was identified that Noah was a bit slow in learning thigs
about toilet training as compared to other students or children. In the interview following needs
