Journal Entry 2 Reflection on the Interview 3
Employability Skills 2 During the interview, I was asked to explain about an instance that I had to complete a task under a tight deadline during my attachment periods. The interviewing panel was very particular on the question, demanding to know when, why and how I managed the situation. I explained to the panel that a fellow attachee left days before a task of his was due. He was expected to prepare liabilities and assets reports for the first quarter of the former organization. I continued to explain how I was asked to take over the task of preparing the liabilities and assets report, with only three days to learn and complete the task. I had to constitute a task force of five fellow attachee, assigned responsibilities and we were able to complete the assignment with a day to spare. I am convinced that a successful interview calls for skill, careful observation, advanced planning, and luck. I was also surprised at the speed the time was passing during the interview, which left the feeling that I had barely engaged the interviewing panel. I realized that precise responses are preferable because they allow for more exchanges, particularly in brief interviews. Interviewers have a limited chance to acquaint themselves with the interviewee especially those handling many candidates(Rogers, 2011). Therefore, elaborate and lengthy responses will make them tune you out(Charsley, 2014). The most essential lesson I learned during the interview, is the need to be flexible. Every member in the panel required me to emphasize different aspects of my training and experience with respect to the field of Human resources management work. The Menzies Sinclair a London, based Company should hire me for owing to the following example; I managed to beat a deadline of three days with a day to spare in my former company as an attachee in the HRM department this is after an employee left a task that was due in three days. I was assigned the task and formed a task force, delegated work and completed in good time. 4

Employability Skills 2 Journal entry-3 There are several things which I have learned about myself in this module such as my own competency, skills and management program. In this module, I learned that drawbacks and issues I have in this particular job. I have professional qualification in HRM courses and hiring process alongside my degree in business management to make me the most preferred candidate for this job in Reuben Sinclair a London, based Company. This is because the two are closely related. It taught me how to get job, how to work and how transactions are recorded, summarized and presented. Therefore, I would enroll for the particular course in order to acquire the relevant knowledge and skills in the field of human resources management(Lees, 2013). The STAR method refers to a structured way of responding to interview questions which are behaviorally oriented by discussing the particular situation, task, action, and result of the situation being described(Yurchenko, 2017).Reflecting on the interview process and the application of the STAR model will enable me to assess how well I performed and identify the presenting shortcomings. It will be based on the STAR model which captures the objectives relating to the threethemes:knowingmyself;knowingmysector;letthemknow(Bernstein,2015).I discovered that I have a weakness in expressing myself properly, particularly in an interview setting. For instance, I felt so nervous during my previous interview. However, I learned that I have a good command over language following a compliment from two of the five interviewers. Sometimes I encountered difficulties in mastering accounting skills such as the use of business management software. I realized the need to improve on this skill as well as presentation skills HRM practice. References 5
