INTRODUCTION
Employee relation is defined as company's effort for managing relationship among
manager and workers. The organisation having good employee relations helps in providing equal
treatment to all staff which leads to achievement of goal and objectives along with loyalty
towards company (Anitha, 2014). Every organisation should maintain good and strong
relationship with their staff that leads to high productivity. The given assignment is based on
Chez Bruce restaurant which was founded in 1995 at London, England. It is a modern French
dining, fine wines with decorated space for customers. The report covers values and importance
of employee relations along with employment laws which will be followed for effective working
and fulfilment of duties and responsibilities. The analysis of stakeholder and their impact on
employee relationship is also discussed.

P1 Value and importance of employee relations
Employee Relations as a Principles
In order to maintain employee relations in an organisation, there are some principles
which needs to be followed. These principles are made by HR manager in order to provide
security and safety to working staff. The principle can be related with dignity and respect where
all subordinates are treated equal. Similarly, other principle is related with honest and
straightforward in which employee relation should be conducted on basis on this way.
Employee Relations as a Concept
Employee relations is defined as relationship between employer and workers for
managing all activities in an organisation (Carter and et. al., 2013). It is very important to treat
all employees equally and provide them benefits for running business successfully. When good
relationship is created with staff then it helps in resolving problems arise at Chez Bruce. HR
strategies are formulated for effective employees relations. The staff are given high value as they
are stakeholder of business. They are the most important assets of any organisation who helps in
achieving final goal and objectives.
Value of positive employee relations
The positive relationship with employee's helps in creating value for them which provide
various benefits to organisation. This impact business in positive manner and assist in fulfilment

Bruce are as follows:
Productivity- If employee are provided with good working environment and treated well
then they can increase productivity of organisation. Chez Bruce focus more on creating good
relation with their staff so that they can provide good service to customers which enhance value
and goodwill of restaurant.
Conflict Reduction- When employees are provided with effective environment and
treated equally then disputes within workplace reduces (Conway and et. al., 2016). It helps Chez
Bruce employees to focus on work rather than issues and problems. Also, it improves employee
relation within organisation.
Impact of negative employee relations
When organisation is unable to maintain good relations with their staff then it creates
negative impact on business. This happens in enterprise because of behaviour of manager,
problems are not heard by authority and unequal treatment to staff. The impact of negative
employee relations are described below:
Lack of training- This creates negative impact on employees and their performance. This
leads to decrease in productivity which resulted in bad relationship with organisation. This

Office politics effect business in various ways such as decreasing overall productivity by
employees due to conflict. Politics creates negative environment at workplace which spoils
relationship with individuals. The office politics effect and demotivate employees for giving
their best performance.
P2 Fundamentals of employment law
Employment laws are made for welfare of employees working in an organisation that
should be followed by each and every company for smooth running of their entity. These laws
are made by government in order to protect staff from unsafe work conditions, labour practices.
The employment laws and regulation make contract, terms and conditions impose to employee
regarding job (Forth and et. al., 2013). The different laws followed by ChezBruce restaurant to
provide safe working environment to subordinates are described below:
Equality Act, 2010- It is act of parliament of United Kingdom which protects
discrimination, harassment of employees working in an organisation. This act protect workers
from nine protected characteristics such as disability, marriage and civil partnership, race, age,
gender reassignment, pregnancy and maternity, religious, sex and sexual orientation. Chez Bruce
has implemented this law for ensuring about safe environment to all individual working in
organisation. Under this law, all the regulation, rights of employee and employees are
mentioned, in case if any discrimination occurs within restaurant then strict action should be
taken by manager in case of future avoidance. This act helps in maintaining good relationship
with employees as equality help them to perform better.
Employment Rights Act, 1996- This act contain written contract which should be
provided to employees when they start their jobs. The document should contain terms and
conditions of employment contract and their rights which should be provided to staff within two
months of their working. Chez Bruce restaurant implement such lJohns model of reflectionaws
that provide appointment letter within 15 days of joining. Such letter make them clear about their
rights, salary, working conditions and others. This laws helps in maintaining employee relations

Health and Safety Act, 1974- This act explains authority and structure for regulation,
enforcement and encouragement related with health and safety of workers (Gill and Meyer,

premises. Chez Bruce restaurant keep health and safety of workers at first priority. They should
provide equipped equipment to staff for preparing food and dishes. In order to ensure health of
employees, Chez Bruce provide regular health check up to their staff. This also helps in creating
effective relationship with work force. This act helps in maintaining hygiene for their customer
so that no health issues arise. All safety and health hygiene should be made aware to staff for
proper working in organisation. If complaints of employees are solved related with health and
safety then it creates good employee relations.
National Minimum Wage Act, 1998- This act develop minimum wages across United
Kingdom that was implemented from 1st April, 2018 as £7.83 to workers having aged above 25,
£7.38 to aged from 21 to 24 and £5.90 to aged 18 to 20 (Greenhaus, Peng and Allen, 2012). It is
paid on hour basis to employees. Chez Bruce implement such act in organisation to pay fair
wages to the workers. This avoid discrimination of salary at restaurant and paid as per their
capability. The employees should be paid minimum wages for creating relationship.

to invest in business which helps to increase capital of both organisation as well as human.

collection of expectations of occupation relationship from formal and employment contract. It is

secondary stakeholders indirectly affect outcomes and decision of organisation. They can be
creditors, community groups, government agencies, customers, labour unions and suppliers.

stakeholder are as follows:
Primary Stakeholders of Chez Bruce
These stakeholders are very important for organisation in order to achieve goal and
objectives (Welch, 2012). In order to run business smoothly, participation is must without which
organisation cannot exist. The examples of such stakeholders are as follows:
Managers/ Staff- The manager of organisation formulates policies, plan and ensure that
employees are following it or not. The activities formulated by such people results in success or
